  1. Hi Matt, I hadn't realised you were on here. It's looking good so far. I can't see any major fit problems from that shot. Andy
  2. Hi all, This is going to be a sloooooow build so bare with me! I'm not renowned for finishing kits but hopefully this time..... I'm finally ready to start work on my first project for years. I've got two Revell 1/32 Tornado GR1 kits to be built in Granby and Telic configurations. Along with the kits I have the flightpath flap/slat set, the leading edges and glove seals from the paragon flap/slat set, the flightpath detail/GR4 conversion set, two pairs of paragon seats, a blackbox cockpit, some bits from brooksy (soon) and some mastercasters figures. Many thanks to everyone on here who has helped out with reference photos so far! The current plan is for a GR1 with 8 1000lb bombs (taken from the two kits on scratchbuilt twin stores carriers) decaled as Nikki, mounted on a stand in a popup loft manoeuvre, flying with wings back and mastercasters crew. The GR4 will be loaded with alarm (from flighpath), concrete paveway (kit) and a tiald (flightpath), on the deck with flaps down, probe out etc. I'm toying with using the blackbox pit, but I’m currently producing a custom etched fret with a complete cockpit along with correct GR4 side panels, new undercarriage bays and a few extra bits. Below are a few shots of the fantastic mastercasters crew after a few modifications (they look a little rough at the minute) sat on paragon seats stripped of their belts, all undercoated with halfords finest. Before: (courtesy of the mastercaster site) After: in the BB cockpit tub. Thanks for looking, watch this space! Andy
  3. In addition, the last jet in your first post (P), is that carrying some american CBUs? I've never seen a shot of Tornado carrying those before. When was this load flown as I didn't think the Tornados got involved in any CAS type missions? Andy
  4. Interesting, so you'd say that most if not all of the initial 1000lb'er sorties were only flown with 4 bombs not 8? Where did I get the idea that they flew with 8 operationally, perhaps I recall reading it in Tornado Down. I'll have to check and see. Andy
  5. Hi all, In my continued reference hunt for my current project I have a few questions about the I hope one of the experts out there will be able to help with. The following shot shows a GR4 with what looks like a SkyShadow pod without the side lobes. Does anyone know what this is? I don't think its a camera pod as it still has the radiation warning stickers near the front (which probably rules out a ballast pod too) I did read there was a project to replace SkyShadow, could this be the new pod? http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Pa...next_id=1015621 Also, I'm toying with the idea of doing a GR1 in a granby scheme, but loaded with 8 x 1000lb dumb bombs. I seem to remember this was a valid load out at the start of the war, but I can't find many (any) shots online showing jets in this config. Has anyone seen any? Also does anyone have any reference for the double ejector racks for the 1000lb bombs as these will need scratch building. One more, during granby, how far into the conflict did the jets get their nose art, and were mission markings applied daily or in a batch? I know there must be someone out there that can help (Merv) Thanks Andy
  6. Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. (also glad to hear the templates are actually good too) Andy
  7. Hi I've found some really good looking scribing templates by Lion Roar and Voyager, but the only UK source I have found is http://www.modelsforsale.com and they are sold out. Does anyone else know of a stockist? Thanks Andy
  8. Hmmm, it looks like you need to be registered to see the photos. Sorry about that. (still worth a look if you fancy registering) Andy
  9. First off, sorry if this is not acceptable, but while searching for reference for my Tornado is discovered a build on a German modelling site that is truly remarkable. Some of the detail this builder has put in is astonishing. I thought some of you tornado fans might like a look. Beware, after seeing this I might not bother with mine! http://www.flugzeugforum.de/forum/showthread.php?t=44994 Once again, sorry if this is not allowed. Andy
  10. Hi all, I'm looking for a source for 1/32 scale BOL launcher rails as used on the Tornado F3 / Harrier. Does anyone know if the RAF rail (BOL304 I think) is the same as the LAU-138 as used by the USAF? Cutting Edge used to produce these in 1/32 but seem to have stopped now. Has anyone seen any drawing of the british rails so I could scratch a few if there is no off the shelf option. Thanks, Andy
  11. I'd recommend http://www.fasttrackmodels.co.uk/ Quick service and some of the cheapest prices I've seen. I've just order around 25 pots from there. Andy
