By the way, while I was looking for picture of the real thing, I came upon those two.

At first I thought it was the same family of vehicle, but I must be wrong.

Yet the story behind will maybe ring a bell to some of you.

It was July 1995, and I was about to leave Sarajevo to go back to France after a five month deployment. Situation was tense, and the airport was closed, with every flight canceled, as militias were targeting aircrafts on final, so we had to leave Bosnia by road to Croatia, where we could take a flight to France via Split airport.

This was done in three sequences, first leaving Sarajevo under armour (in a VAB), to get to a point about 30km away on the road to Croatia, where we could spend the night. Then early the next day second sequence to Split with a truck convoy, and third sequence the day after from Split to Paris in a FAF DC-8.

At the same time, a  NATO Quick Reaction Force was entering Bosnia via the same road to deploy around Sarajevo, to bring the Serbs back to the negociations.

To help in their deployment, radio relay were established all along the road by the British Army, and one of them was set up right on the spot where we were to spend the night.

This is how I spent my last night in Bosnia, drinking tea in the Warrior (?) with the Brits!

I believe that there was also some single malt at some point, but I can't be afirmative....

    So, what are those vehicles????

Top is a 432 ….with racal mast and bottom is warrior recovery veh .

  2. Finally finished the meng models Husky ..I wanted to complete something different and after finding a few online pictures of the vehicle with a mine roller off I went the project stalled due to lack of information on the roller but after some shall I say interaction with Pearson engineering they came up trumps….

so here it is .mengs kit has been heavily modified to create the spec of the vehicle at the time …BV storage locker was opened a new radio table full radio fit along with boomerang..The roller is scratch built and each wheel has an independent suspension unit which works [no idea why on a static model ] a fun and frustrating build at times but I’m pleased .

the vehicle is depicted on base in the lashkar valley prior to another deployment..spacer.png

  3. Good day all ..An upcoming build for those interested..The L118 light gun has been a want for many modellers over the past few years …an early one was produced by Hinchcliffe in white metal. Basic and soft detail wise recently an American chap has produced one as a print ..but now we have another version on the cards ..this is the only one that’s. Got the APS system fitted ….This is a test build to see how it goes ,the model will be available for those via a sty file to download and print themselves but won’t be available until I’ve been able to prove the print and sort out any issues that should arise ..

anyway a few shots of the parts ..

  4. Greetings one and all ..as usual it’s been a while ..the vehicle is nearly done with photos sent to Pearsons …due to the fragile nature the vehicle needs a base it’s all very well putting it on a bit of wood but I like to set a scene and as always a figure to add a sense of scale .

Nice one I have seen these,is there any building to be done or is it all cast?
For gods sake anyone dont  get these mixed up with Dragon Badger and order from him😳

    Indeed that would be awful..

nice looking Sultan for me I still struggle that you have the print lines if and that particular bit irritates me..tempted but still holding off on getting something from them ..

  6. Bit of an update .. first of all I needed a stretcher for the side of the vehicle..most if not all model stretchers are solid plastic however the ones used in Afghan were the mesh folding ones ..so after a bot of pondering I raided the gift box supply’s ..and would you believe it some posh mesh ribbon same width as the afore mentioned..and set to work ..

spacer.pngspacer.pngand a few teaser shots …working on a suitable base as well and the whole thing together is a tad fragile..

enjoy and thanks for looking in ..
