HMS Hood Trumpeter 1/200 wooden deck
Rich75 replied to Rumbuoy's topic in General Maritime modelling chat
Not sure if I can recommend but I have used an Artwox deck on my KGV in 1/350 it looks pretty good and I know other people have used them as well, if you went the Pontos route then you could get it in a rather extensive detail up set...also maybe try a post in WW2 maritime ? Hth -

tamiya acrylic thinner is alcohol based for instance...in case you might already have some to try as well
-
Isopropyl alcohol you can dilute it with water as well to weaken slightly

I read recently that it was recommended with earlier 3d printed and resin models and parts to let them sit in daylight to help with curing the resins before painting them. I think if you're getting paint lifting it would be most likely be the resins coming to the surface. Your paintwork and masking are spot on ππ» I use UV curing paints in my work from time to time and there's enough UV in daylight to cure the paint. I wonder if IPA would help as a surface cleaner? Or is that a no-no for resin?

Those are the things that are always in the back of my mind when we make these models

Very nice Not sure the lifeboat would be of much use if that puffer was caught in an air raid

Happy to help if I can but to echo what @Bertie McBoatface said, a decent book for reference is really quite helpful, I found this quite useful, from a historical point of view and enough technical to get you by For photographic references the IWM website has beautiful pictures of the entire class, btw the tamiya kit has the weapons pretty much as described in the last pic I posted (July 1944) which was from this book, hth

This might be helpful to start off with, Hth

I'll dig out one of my books and post some info for you

The kit comes in the late 1944 fit out, pretty much everything is depicted in the box weapons and radar wise but being a 70's kit it's pretty basic. The micromasters parts are pretty amazing so are black cats but if you want to add all the radars, scuttles, funnel tops railings etc, you'll still have to get some PE parts, mk1 design do a royal navy radar set for instance, which has some parts i have not seen in other sets, I would recommend reading up on the ship first to get an idea of the full specs, there's a lot to replace! Look forward to seeing it underway

Really like that cracking job! and agree with the others, the rigging issue may be accidental but looks spot on, nice ππ»

The single mounts are 20mm oerlikons the quad mounts are 40mm bofors and the dual turrets are 5 inch 38's. Nice start, she has many guns!
