  1. Thank you gentlemen for your replies, I shall now make the effort to purchase the model and think of a suitable diorama
  2. Hi all, Being doing some research on a future kit build and have come across a stale mate in the research books................. So here's the question, hopefully someone here will be able to answer it with 100%............. The Bell / Iroquois UH-1N helicopter.............was it used by the USAF AND the Marines.............. As my research seem to show mostly UH-!D used by the USAF and UH-1C used by the marines............. But have found a photo that shows a UH-1N in Marines markings but the caption says USAF All help gratefully recieved
  3. What only 3 in the stash....... ..............I've got 6 in my stash with the opton to converrt 1/32 into a 'G' to make it 7 Mind you that is from a total of 26 spooks sat in the cupboard
  4. Hi Andy, A man with taste........... Try these for some details http://www.scalespot.com/onthebench/f4g/f4g_build.htm http://hsfeatures.com/f4gda_2.htm http://modellingmadness.com/reviews/mod/jacksonf4g.htm I have a good supply of ref: material if you need any other help Hope this helps
  5. Hi Steve, Lets see if I've got this right........... Buy the RF-4b kit and use the wings from my F-4c kit......... RF-4b is a Naval version so also use the plyons from that kit, with my 'c' resin cockpit This will give me a early version RF-4c Buy the RF-4e kit, then use the cans & stabs from the F-4c to produce a latter version, but not use the F-4c wings ? I have enough data & pictures to produce a good RF-4c office using the resin kit & the F-4c & a.n.other kit
  6. Hi Steve, Thanks for that info........ I've been going over my ref: books again..... I have found details about the flat & curved nose designs But I'm still wondering if I can use a Hase 1/48 RF-4b ie this one https://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=HAPT031 or a RF-4e like this one https://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=HAPT030 Afterall I only need the nose section from the cockpit forwards to graft onto a F-4c......... The rest of the kit would go into the spares box Any other help you can give I'd be most grateful for
  7. Hi all, One of the Phantoms in my stash is set aside to make a RF-4c, However having spent last night reading and looking at the pictures in all my ref books, It seems that I have dropped a clanker........... So the question is........ Can I use a F-4c model (Hase 1/48), and convert it to a RF-4c, If so where do the two differ ? Or do I need to buy a RF-4e or a RF-4b to get the right nose shape or would it be possible to cut the Rf nose of the e or b and fit it to a c I have the Aires F-4c resin cockpit to go in it. + the Aires RF-b/c electronic bay (camera bay) to fit And I thought Weasels (f-4g) were a nightmare........... I look forward to your replys

  10. Hi Mike, Yes, it's a kit. 1/220th scale, produced by a Japanese company called DOYUSHA. Bought it about 5 years ago at Warley rail show @ the NEC...............It was expensive then........ I too have been there with "certain gentlmen from Hereford" (and no I am not one of them), while doing a weekend 'playaway' with our US friends Am planning on taking the wife there one day. As per my signature.......All planes are on hold at present, hence digging this one out from the stash.... Now the only question is................ Do I leave it in "summer" or do I cover it in snow for "winter" ?? PS: The only reason its here in "Figures" is.. (1) practicing uploading photos & (2) there is no "other build" options
  11. Hi all, The present "On The Bench" kit, Had to post it here as there is not a option for 'other' builds Forgot to say.............Any comments welcome............. :-D
  12. Hi Chelsea, What a bummer, The same night, just after Julien put his post/picture up I ordered a bottle of the "Chevy Engine Red" from www.RCprocenter.com Ho hum................ :shithappens:

  15. This is doing my head in............. FS 16440 turns out now to be a light gull grey...............!!! FS 12197 is international Red/Orange http://www.colorserver.net/showcolor.asp?fs=12197 FS 28913 is a US Hi-Viz http://www.colorserver.net/showcolor.asp?fs=28913 FS 28915 is a US Hi-Viz http://www.colorserver.net/showcolor.asp?fs=28915 Model master list this http://www.phoenix-model.com/paint_charts/Testors_MM_FS.pdf Bottom of the 3ed column Or it could be this http://www.megahobby.com/index.asp?PageAct...amp;ProdID=3298 Use the drop down menu and look for 4682 that should give you the paint Now starting to pull my hair out ( what little I've got left)
  16. Any idea what the FS code is please? I can find a FS 16440 on a "Testors" paint list Is this the one ? I await your reply with interest
  17. Hi all, I putting together a C17a Globemaster, but with a slight twist............see here. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27552 I now need to acquire the red or is dark orange paint for the stripes........... As this is a quick "what-if" build, I have done next to nil research on the colours........ So can someone confirm if the red that is used by USCG is a "Dayglo" red or dark orange.... and what paint by which manufacturer is a good match I will use any type of paint (as long as it is air brushable). Vallejo, Tamiya, Revell, Xtracrylics, or the new Humbrol range of acrylics A paint name or code would be smashing
  18. Well the C17a USCG is well advanced now........... Decals have arrived from David, The C-130v kit has been ordered from "Down Under" all parts have been cleaned up and tonight were primed, The cockpit is painted, albeit with a slight USCG twist, Various 'other' 1/144th kits have been raided for bits & pieces As soon as the "Hawkeye Models" kit arrives from Aus...........I'll get cracking I reckon time wise is 4 weeks Photos to follow soon Meanwhile the phantoms on the bench have taken a back seat
  19. Mass & David, Many thanks for the replys............. The box is open and parts are now joining each other......... Mass, some good links there........... David you have "post"
  20. (In a Micheal Caine voice) Here lads, I've got an idea............. I just been sent a Revell 1/144th Globemaster from a friend in Germany, (what a nice fellow) As "most" people will be building it OOB and doing it a USAF, RAF, Aussie or Canadian, I've a had a brain storm................ US Coast Guard, long range search & rescue.......... After all you could carry a fair a mount of gear on board, even a speed boat Then there are all the antennas, radar housings, camera housings, Would look nice in white with day/glo orange markings Just need to track down some "coast guard" markings to suit a 1/144th, anyone got any ideas where I shuld look Any comments or ideas welcome
  21. Darius, I have to agree with Emlra, the lightweight only ever had vertical split type sliding front windows I know as I lived in various types while working for Queen & country I was so happy when the 90's came out and our unit started to issue them out. For any type of Land Rover, be it a toy or model, try this place.... http://www.landcraft4x4.co.uk/models/index_frames.html
  22. Rob, Try this........... http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22493 Hope this helps
  23. Grey B, I have read somewhere that the Aires cans are not the right size. (thats the problem with the net, you follow one link after another and lose track of where you read something) Well thats it then, Just got to order the D-mold set and track down the Eduard Big set Resin seats.......................I wonder if Mr Verlinden has some
  24. Hi all, I've posted this here as I cannot find a suitable area to post it in. If a MOD or ADMIN thinks it needs moving then please be my guest........ Right then, I have been told by the wife that the mother-in-law has bought me the Tamiya F-4e in 1/32 scale I have done some internet research and know of the following issues........ 1) Bodywork has a load of BDR that need sanding off..... 2) The exhaust cans are too small 3) Air intakes are c**p due to the way the kit goes together Are there any other points that I should know about ? I have just bought a Revell F-4e as I have read somewhere that the exhaust cans are the correct size Is there any other parts from the Revell kit that are good to use on the tamiya kit ? I have found that Relish Models sell 'DMold modelworks seamless intakes to replace the kit ones And any ideas as to which after-market items to buy ? Which of the Eduard etch kits are worth buying http://www.eduard.cz/./products/card.php?i...mp;page_start=5 All thoughts, tips / hints will be most gratefully received
