  1. You. Are. FREAKY! I said to Lorna yesterday, "I need to finish the Victor"!..... 😳
  2. Thanks for your glowing comments, I need to get back into this. Times have changed here, unfortunately been made redundant, so i'm filling my days job hunting and online course-ing. Nothing further has been done as yet, but after a couple more interviews I'll be in a better state of mind to crack on! 😉
  3. hi Guys, do you know if these are available in 1/72 scale? don't know what they're called, so don't know what to look for, we just called it the Giraffe! cheers for your help. Gaz.
  4. To be fair, I was certain yours was a bigger one. That's tiny! Even more impressed now.....
  5. What amazes me, in your new HD images above you can see a couple of scratches on the back of the front mudguard. And even that enhances the realism! The only thing I can see that stops it being the real thing is the top of the carb doesn't have a throttle cable. But please don't take that as a criticism, only an observation. Unfortunately in my job I have to try to see 0.1mm errors by eye, so I'm used to looking at details. This is without doubt the most amazing model I have seen, and is almost indistinguishable from the real thing. Bravo sir, Bravo! P. S. I'm doing a Victor, and it is nowhere near this standard! Seeing details doesn't mean I can do the details! 🤣 🤣 🤣
  6. Exactly. You know it's a good model if you can't tell its a model! This. Is. Amazing.
  7. I'm beginning to get the look I saw in my head. And the ejection seats are coming along...
  8. Done a few details today.... Realised the cockpit firebottle was missing, so made one out of a toothpick. Instructions say I need to add 25g under the cockpit, I've seen others say they've added 32g, so I superglue an assortment of steel washers underneath. A, achieved 30g added, B, stays well within the required areas,... ... and C, makes a perfect stand for the cockpit! 🤣 🤣 And believe I've done enough to start final assembly of the cockpit. Pilot seats are now in progress..... Night all. 😉
  9. I'm hoping. Once it's all together you'll only be able to see it through the cockpit door anyway! 🤣🤣
  10. I've noticed that there are no details in the cockpit on the ceiling and no detail kit parts so I'm trying to make it "resemble" the cockpit: So the details I've done by hand don't look amazing..... But once the rest of the cockpit is in I'm really pleased with the look.
  11. Went further with the model box. Outlined the tools, then painted the background black. Then added retention for the diamond files..... Then had to do the bottom section too, moved stuff about, put sticky backed rubber sheet in the base to quieten things down, added padding to keep all the paints in place, painted the areas between black. Then decided the top needed tidying up. Sanded down and varnished the muddy wood (it was a tackle box) but the old stains still show through..... So silver carbon fablon was added with some aircraft bookmarks and squadron crests (though I'm still waiting to find a 33sqn sticker in the right size). Now, I was quite pleased with it. Until speaking (messaging) with Alex B, who planted the seed that the rest of the outside needed to be tidied in a similar fashion...... So off came the latches and on went more silver carbon, then latches back on. This meant edge's were wanting to peel, so a corner edging of 1" clear tape was added and now it IS finished! Definitely!
  12. Hi, has anyone used this before? Would it be beneficial for me? How do you use it? Thanks in advance. 😉
  13. I've redone my modelling box. It was looking messy where I had changed some tools and it no longer held everything in place when flipped over. Now it does both again. 🙂
  14. Thank you. I've always had an eye for detail (think I might be a bit OCD?) and only do it for me, if that makes sense? I know it's there, so I detail it, whether it will be seen afterwards or not... I'm only making one model, and this Aircraft is the most special to my history. I think I will need to make the canopy and refuel boom fit perfectly, so it can be removed for me to look in, if I ever decide to. 😉
  15. Just a couple if cockpit details fitted tonight. 🙂 The other side of the nav bench: Details by the throttles: And finally assembled the dash, just a couple of details on the release handle for the centre console to do: Night time! 😁
  16. I think that's exactly what I wanted it to look like. Now need to start painting the pilot seats up before the rear seats go in....... In fact, looking at it, I need to touch up the edge of the bench! But it's getting there. This will be my first full model build since I left school in 1988! As long as I get it finished..... 🤣 🤣
  17. So I have been pondering what to do with the nav wall. The eduard kit is supremely detailed, really nice, but flat. They expect you to sand or cut all the moulded details on the wall flat, then bond on the details. Personally, I'm a firm believer of details being 3D. And I've been trying to figure out how to combine them...... I've settled on flatting some details, cutting up the sheet and bonding some on. Not attempted this before, no idea if it'll work and might just've wrecked both trying it. But by jove I think I've done it and achieved what I was after! Just some touching up in between and we're there. 😉 Oh, and need to figure out what I'll do with the radar screen. Forgot that, but just seen it. 😂
  18. Yeah that's worked OK actually. Started off with this: Started off with the heat gun on 180°, but that didn't seem to do anything. Upped the temp to 210°, fan on lowest speed and it softened it just right. After 2 gentle heat cycles I end up with this: Much better and manageable.
  19. I shall experiment with a heat gun, then quenching in cold water, first and see if I can improve it any. I caset my heat gun anywhere between 50>650° so it should be fine........
  20. Any ideas how to straighten the wing? Do I over compensate slightly for it to spring back? Or bond it straight? What's typical experience? ? ? Cheers for the help. Gaz.
  21. Assembled the cockpit dashboard. Yep, that's much more detailed than I could paint! 😂😂 Don't know what to do with the nav wall, the details on the kit are massively different to the kit, I'll need to look into which is more accurate to the K2. If it's the kit, I'll have to mix'n'match the instrument details. And the wingtip is a letdown, it's all bent, as you can see on the leading edge. I'll have to try to straighten it out while bonding the other half to it...
  22. Watching builds like this progress helps me to understand what an amateur I am! 🤣😂 Nice build sir, keep it up. 😉 👍🏻
  23. That's better! I wasn't happy with the periscope I had made because I wasn't happy with the periscope in the kit, so I've now made a proper one I am happy with out of pieces of toothpick (cut lengthways into 4), superglue and some brass off cut squares from the eduard detail kit. And now I am happy with it. The previous version, thankfully, got knocked off by accident, meaning I had to make another for the stock "stub". It was playing on my mind,...... now it's not! 😉
