  1. Well luckily she took me away for the weekend for my birthday so no silent mode yet I tried some pre-shading with a mask I 3d printed (you can see it at the bottom of the stand) and a 1st coat Might have been too cold in garage last night, the paint has gone a little rough???

  3. The primer has shown my filling isn't the best, but thats why we do it (I've declared a modelling emergency at home, the wife knows she wont see me in the evenings now, I wonder if I can finish in time? 🤪)
  4. So it put up a major fight but I've got it together. The filler will now have to make an appearance as the fit wasn't good (I think it was still slightly warped?) Sorry forgot to mention the flight suit colour was a mix of Tamiya metallic grey & silver with some clear green, then dusted with some very thinned Mr Color metallic gold

  7. Good news, a much better arm has been found in all the flash 🤪 (its not even marked in the instructions) But has anyone got any ideas how I would recreate this colour? The only figures I've ever painted are 1/72 pilots

  10. I've built the original kit (which is the only reason I knew about this error) From looking at this photo I was lead to believe even the original didn't have the correct pylon. This was my stab at it

  12. Well I think the family thought I was having a heart attack when I saw this approaching from behind, I can't tell for for sure, but I think thats a 1 of 6 XJ220S (I only know this as I was planning on trying to convert one)

We have a hands down winner (don't worry they weren't in that long) Thanks to @81-er for the Dettol tip (and then it appeared on the Modelling Weekly youtube channel too) The paint just came off in sheets Next time, I'm going to remember to put put clingfilm over it, my garage stunk! 😄 Right hopefully can get on with it now

  17. Hi all Sorry I've had a bit of a google but not found anything, which means its not a thing or my google foo is low. So just wondering if anyone had any top tips for doing carpet interiors and leather seats/dash at 1/43 scale? (I'm guessing walnut dash would be pushing my luck?) Cheers Lee
  18. Sorry late to the party So good news and bad news. Good news, rewatching Battlestar (with the wife 😱) 1/2 thru season 3 atm. Bad news, well you'll see I did order some tiny OLED screens for a DRADIS display but they all arrived smashed and I don't think I could have done that justice anyhow. So sprue shot And now the bad new, I really should check these things when they turn up, but have to hide them too quickly. The owners description of "new" meant someone had started to hand paint bits 😩 So first job will be learning how to get that off (just an IPA bath????)

Interesting, so https://logos-world.net/orange-logo/ say that orange is hex #ff6600 and plugging that into https://www.spotmodel.com/color_finder.php?settings=[24,100,50,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1] Comes out with Fluorescent Orange As I doubt I'll ever see the real thing, these maybe close enough. Thanks for the lens tips, I'll give that a try
  20. Ok I've a crazy idea that I've no idea if I can pull off, but I'd love to convert a 1/24 XJ220 into one of the Opal fruit TWR XJ220S. This one So I've found out what the wheels are (BBS type LM) and I've managed to grab a decent 3d model from some game site to rebuild the front end/spoiler But what I struggling with is the colour? A number of sites say "Outrageous Orange". I've tried the colour matcher website and well Tamiya TS-56 "Brilliant Orange" seems to be close, but not quite? Anyone got any ideas? Cheers Lee Ps Also any ideas how to make the clear lenses, I may have bitten off more than I can chew here
  21. So this was my first 1st time trying to print/paint something this big. The sanding and filling wasn't as bad as I thought. I knew I'd never get the paneling right and I tried to do some weathering on a test piece and it just looked wrong and I ran out of time as this was for a friend's birthday (fun and games getting it to the pub ) Getting all the electronics in for the remote control light up globe was an amazing squeeze, next time I'll remember to add room for all the wires not just the circuit boards. There are also a couple of other mistakes, /cough decal placement, but at least I know how to print my own now Thanks for watching WIP here 3D model here
  22. Well its not perfect but I ran out of time and skill, great learning curve thou. I'll get some better shots together for a RFI. (and I can finally clean/sort my desk, what a mess! 🙀)
  23. Base getting its lead fill (boy its gonna need it!) And painted (needs a few touch ups)
