  1. I recall one air show display way back in the day and it would have been either Prestwick or Leuchars, I forget which. While it wasn’t hugging the deck I vividly remember a fast pass when the Buccaneer came from the right dropping altitude as it came down to the start of the crowd line. He was tramping so much that he seemed not to be making any noise until he was almost past us when it got noisy. Gave a few folks a fright and I did wonder if he was in a spot of bother at the debrief. Spectacular though.
  2. Due to the communication issues with written text I’m not sure if that suggestion is serious or tongue in cheek. It is though a good one either way Simon. Decades ago I saw coffee tables with glass centres with large ship models inside and always wondered about doing something similar I recall HK B-17 could be wall mounted. I wonder if such a mounting could be devised to put it (or any Lanc or similar model) in a wall mounted glass display cabinet with a mirror background rather like a 3d picture?
  3. I’m not a ship modeller but I do marvel at the encyclopaedic knowledge of @Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies and can recommend trying his paints which will be 100% right. Have a look at his section under traders on here
  4. On the matter of artwork it’s fair to say that back in the early 60’s there was a far greater amount of artistic license or perhaps ignorance when it came to box tops. In fairness there was not the mountain of information available that we have today thanks substantially to the internet effect. My data was either from a collection of Airfix magazines, a couple of good books and the local library. So given the lack of resources I am going to give those artists a pass. They produced some inspirational pictures for my 11 year old self and many happy hours. A small part of me is still desperate to paint a Mustang in red paint

I just found this. Really sorry to hear about the big bump in the road but they are pretty slick doing this stuff these days. Do as the doc orders and get better soon. We are all rooting for you Frank
  6. Crikey - thats a worry. Right everyone - extra hand washing when Martian is about as the last thing we could cope with is a nasty bout of Martian Norovirus. Stuff would be everywhere all 360 degrees at once too. Doesnt bear thinking about.
  7. I would have offered to check out our washing machine with a test run of one sock and one bra but the main fuse box needs a visit from the electrician and the house a rewire after I tried to follow @Pete in Lincs advice about copper wire being used for rigging etc. Mrs T managed to beat the flames out on my clothes and hair. A bit too enthusiastically if you ask me but very effective and nothing that won’t heal quickly once they take the plaster off
  8. When you do wear socks how many pairs to get fully attired and do you have trouble finding matching pairs like I do when Mrs T washes them? I swear that five pairs go into the washing machine and seven odd socks come out. Could it be that there is a worm hole or breach of the space time continuum inside the Bosch - not to be confused with Boche as in Zeppelin crew?
  9. Should have read the full sentence there first before trying but got a tad excited and got ahead of myself
  10. Simon do not despair. Stopping a venture such as this at this stage is much easier said than done. Getting it stopped temporarily pending a full court hearing not so difficult but without taking up a boring lengthy dissertation I can see many hurdles getting it stopped. I would suggest adopting a wait and see position. More information as to where the boxed kits were would not go amiss
  11. Two I have picked up and find useful Robert Peczkowski does a good 2 volume set "Early Versions" and "Late Versions" They are weak on history but strong on developments change notes, photos plans and profiles. So very much with the modeller in mind. I am doing an early P-38 so have Vol1 to hand. Vol 2 is in storage On history the Crowood Publication by Jerry Scutts is typical Crowood and usually available at reasonable cost. The Osprey publications have some useful stuff too but I think they focus on later versions more from what I see.
  12. That is so very nice. I was a young teenager when she was cancelled and like the cancellation of the Miles supersonic project the immediate action directive was to destroy jigs etc to ensure it was killed off. Your model is a lovely what just might have been but for…………..
  13. All sounds like the horror stories my Dad told about having the privilege of firing the Boyes anti tank rifle. He said if not done right a broken collar bone could result
  14. Courtesy of tonight’s Lisa Tarbuck radio show “I’m a bit concerned about the caravan in the back garden. it wasn’t there yesterday” Also courtesy of the several storms these past few days with wind gusting 80 mph plus
  15. that’s how I did it before and got the whole thing. Cutting and pasting the link seems to cause the problem. Something new every day
  16. That’s odd Selwyn. You are quite right when I try it on my mobile phone just now I got the same experience but I have looked at it online with the desk top earlier today and on an earlier topic a few weeks ago when this topic came up before and it accessed in full no problem both times Thats weird
  17. I think you might find this article interesting https://www.key.aero/article/f-4juk-phantoms-vietnam-vets-raf-service
  18. I can’t see Ireland acquiring modern combat aircraft anytime far less anytime soon for purely economic reasons. Irelands military personnel are rightly thought of highly but hardware does not come cheap. New Zealand and other countries in the same geopolitical situation have similar problems It is in their interests and that of their larger neighbour to work out some understanding and solution that may well involve the nationals of the smaller nation getting training with the neighbour while maintaining etc is also done there while a degree of utilisation of facilities in the smaller country is given to the bigger neighbour. In other words a mutually satisfactory back scratching set up. Of course you still have history and politics to overcome to make it work.
  19. Its not changed much in 700 odd years ! Lovely figure painting - very envious of your skills. I stopped painting pilots decades ago as they all came out looking like Minions.
  20. tbh no one other than an owner would notice the speaker issue and even then only as an afterthought once they had seen the great job on the Rostyle wheels.
  21. Ian on my 78 plate rubber bumper the speaker was in the passenger footwell and wedge shaped. I’m out and about but think I have a cockpit photo at home taken for insurance purposes many years ago if it would help anyone in a build I kept her pristine and was interested that she is still about and notified as off the road this winter
  22. There are also suitable aftermarket decals for a Tallboy Lanc from Kits World. Ask my bank manager how I know all this but not Mrs T please I always think the roundel colours are a bit "off" or am I wrong?
  23. Fancy Simon? https://www.scalemates.com/kits/iconicair-combined-lancaster-tallboy-and-bulged-bomb-bay-doors--1324379
