Thank you for the kind words John, it was a nice ending to the display for the team to line up and salute. They did it a number of times, not only to satisfy us but also the Boscombe resident photographer and their own team photographer too! Not evident in the image is that the national flag unfurls as the canopy opens which I think is a really nice touch.

I saw their display for the first time on Saturday at RIAT and was very impressed indeed. Not only a long display but also innovative too with the piece de resistance for me being the creation of the national flag by two of the team. The only thing that I have seen that comes close is the six pointed star created by the JASDF's Blue Impulse which is one of my favourite teams. Like you, I heard nothing but approval from the people around me and well deserved it was too. I don't know about the assists but perhaps somebody on BM might know?

yes Mrs T loved the creation of their national flag and the other parts of their display. I thought someone has said “now how do you improve on the Red Arrows?”  Laurels to be looked at methinks but the Reds need more support from HMG or at least to have a more appreciative view of what they do.

  2. Smashing photos there.  Really nice and good to see the pilots line up especially as we saw them display at RIAT yesterday.  A very tight and dynamic routine and extended in time.  The general consensus among people we spoke to was that their display was head and shoulders above the display of the other teams.  That's not to knock the others but just to express appreciation of the Korean pilots.  I wonder if the aircraft they use assists in the display design given that its not wholly a trainer type and possibly outperforms the types used by say the Red Arrows and the Frecci?

The beach at Kalives on the south side of Souda Bay is a great place for watching aircraft operating from the military side of Chania Airport. Spent many happy hours there with the kids splashing in the warm water and late model two seater F-16s with all the lumps and bumps powering overhead …

Great tip. Might suggest a day out to Mrs T and put the blame on you :D

There’s a large number of Lakenheath F-15s and F-35s at Chania at the moment.

    Yep. Back again today

  4. Not quite over the house but……. On holidays in Crete and had F-16’s over the hotel high so only seeing plan view. Just regular all morning. Then this afternoon there were another five in a loose formation over Rethymno and given the height and peering between two high rises in the way I think it was maybe a mixed formation of F-16’s and at least one F-35. Could have been an F-15 too?  I think some exercise is taking place. Maybe they could be asked return to base at a lower flight level :D

I'm a bit tied up at the moment.

And we have not heard from him again in 22 hours. Should we be worried???

    And “tied up”. ??

    Alongside a quay or jetty?

Some strange assignation with a lady who has a strong personality?

Acquired many items of gentleman’s neck wear?

struggling with over demanding boss at work?

The membership needs to know. What is going down in Lincs?

  7. Sadly gone and missed. The spitfire clip was brilliant and to be fair Ray Hanna would have scared the poop stuff out of me too yet he did make fun out of it. Sad to think so many of these guys have gone

  8. Well they certainly started in my existence as a pre 10-11 as toys to supplement tanks and soldiers. Sometime around age 11 I wanted to know more about them and by 12 they stopped being things in my hand scooting over a play battlefield and models of things I wanted to know more about. Then I didn’t want battle damage from diving onto a Panther tank to shoot it up in my mind. So the transition would have been around age 11.

At least that’s what grown up me admits to myself anyway. Whether in some dark recess of the mind an 11 year old is still fighting the air battles of yesteryear who knows

But I clicked on the link and there was a photo of a large box and my front door. So I galloped down the hall and it was true!!

    Simon

clearly Borders Models should be required to carry a health warning on the box and advertising

No galloping at our age please

Likely to end badly with a hip replacement you know. I find that a fast stroll is risky enough these days.  :D

Once upon a time there was a new modelling club in Belfast. I don't know if still exists. But their whole aim was to build models to win awards and medals. They once had a good membership. An ex-my club member was drawn to them and left my club, because 'we don't focus on competitions'

Anyway, this friend had over the years picked up numerous Gold, Silver, Bronze, Commendations awards at SMW, the Scots Nationals and the Ireland IPMS.

He was chucked out of this club because he had not won an award in about one year.

He never got a refund on his membership fee, which was very high and which he had just paid.

He claimed that he thought they were joking but when he turned up for the next club meeting two bully boys literally threw him out

    Snobbery in the extreme?

    Was instantly reminded of ………..

I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER.

or some other variation of what is quoted as saying :D

  11. I suppose it comes with most human activities at times. I confess I haven’t seen it that often if at all in this hobby but then I’m not a club member and don’t do competitions.
I know it would get stood on here by the Mods thankfully which is what makes this a nice place to be at

Just to check is this the 1/32 lanc kit that the experts said that if anyone bought one then Peter Jackson’s lawyers would personally visit each and every buyer in the night and steal all their after eight mints and replace the wrappers in the box/and or arrest the buyer, lock him in chokey and force him to break rocks in an orange jumpsuit in the Arizona sun?

or was that a totally different 1/32 that was ‘never going to be released cos’

    Just checking

    TT

Even if they did it wouldn’t worry me.   I laugh in the face of such threats

Now just the thought of Mrs T spotting a box  that size being delivered results in a change of undies. Now that’s what I call a threat.
