  1. Thanks for the replies guys. I do already have a larger dremel which I love but it’s not great for fine /detail work. I did however see the dremel stylo+ in B&Q earlier today which looks quite neat. It runs slower than my dremel and is much smaller so I would imagine is a lot more controllable.
  2. Recently watched a video on youtube and saw for the first time a wowstick. Looks impressive. but its over £60 and so wanted peoples experiences and whether there is anything of comparison on the market please? Thanks
  3. I’m new to panel line enhancement and going to give it a go on my next model. Any recommendations on what to buy to use as a scribe to depen them please?
  4. Thanks all for the replies. Still not made a decision. My main worry is quality control if you believe the reviews, especially with the cheap ones. Even paying £80 doesn’t seem to being any guarantee it will last although the four e’s mixer seems to be ok at that price.
  5. Anyone got any experience of the small vortex paint mixers or even the nail varnish shakers that are available please. I’m thinking of getting one to make shaking my acrylic pots a little easier. thanks.
  6. So I ended up buying an HP-CS so will see what it’s like and if I notice a difference to the cheaper models I currently have. Got it for £140 so I felt it compared quite favourably compared to others at that price.
  7. Thanks for the help everyone. Popped into tesco over the weekend and picked up a packet of swamped plastic shot glasses but also bought 4 glass shot glasses to see if I can avoid using too much single use plastics.
  8. Thanks for all your replies guys. I originally wanted to go down the throw away route but now wondering whether a few stainless-steel cups might be better all round so will have a look for some. RobL / RJP are the Swantex glasses totally smooth inside without anything to catch the stirrer? Thanks
  9. HI all. I am looking for some small (25ml ish) mixing cups so that I can mix outside of the airbrush cup. However, those I have tried so far all have small notches inside making it difficult to mix easily. Can anyone recommend me a source of cups that have a flat bottom and no notches of any sort. Thanks
  10. From what I see the Mr Hobby / Gunze airbrushes have what I call a traditional nozzle arrangement rather than the Iwata floating design. Does that make a difference to anything? Thanks
  11. Thanks all for responses. Ngantek, I think you have helped, just for mentioning it cleans easy.
  12. I have spent some time learning airbrushing this year on very cheap airbrushes because at the time I wanted to at least try before I spent a lot of money. I am now ready to upgrade to one that will give me better results (finer, less splatter, better atomising etc) and current thoughts are to get an Iwata HP-CS. However, I thought I would see whether there are alternatives I should consider in the similar price range please. I have a reasonable compressor, will mainly continue to spray acrylics and will be on scale modelling as well as warhammer miniatures and some drawing. Thoughts please. Thanks
  13. Just wondered what the protocol is for primer please. Obviously for main outside of models I airbrush primer before anything else but should I also use it for things such as cockpit parts and other visible interiors? Intention is to use my Vallejo primer through an airbrush but will brush is its only small parts. Thanks
  14. Thanks all. White Tack now ordered. 👍
  15. About to order some bluetac that I can use for masking and also holding small parts whilst painting and am sure I read somewhere that some brands are better than others due to oil and residues being left behind. Is there much truth behind this? Thanks
  16. Hi All. Recently joined since coming back to model building. Did it as a kid which I think is pretty standard for many of us at mid life but only standard model builds (cars, tanks, planes etc) with standard finishing. Since then hobbies have changed a few times, currently mixing up restoring old RC cars, building and flying RC planes, collecting and painting Warhammer miniatures and I've started to learn airbrushing (models and art). With the availability of online tutorials and forums like this I am hoping to develop much further than 30 years ago.
