  1. This is my entry to the group build. I tried and failed with another group build in the past so hopefully this time it will go better I'll be able to finish. The one I am going for is the Manx Air Races one to comply with the theme of the group build. Looks like this plane won the race in 1937. Apparently this is the B variant according to the instructions and this is what Wikipedia says about this variant. "Bf 108B Revised version, built from late 1935. The prototype had a Siemens-Halske Sh 14A radial, but production machines used the 240 PS (237 hp, 177 kW) Argus As 10C or the 270 PS (266 hp, 199 kW) Argus As 10E. A quadrant-shaped rather than rectangular rear window, tailwheel replacing skid, revision of shape of empennnage and removal of tailplane upper bracing." This is the weekend edition with no extras so hopefully will be an easy build. The whole idea really is finishing the build as I have not finished a model for years now. 😅
  2. Thank you all, really encouraging comments. 👍 Can't wait to progress and share more.
  3. I have the same kit waiting to be built. This thread will be a great reference for my build. 👍 I was thinking about the same thing for painting the rest of the engine. It won't be visible after all.
  4. A bit of a progress this weekend. Still making models only at weekend which is major blocker for a steady progress. Should start doing more on weekdays. Right, coming back to the model... Surprise! The build started with the cockpit. Although cockpit looks convincing to the naked eye, the pics are nothing to be proud of. I understand why people shift towards using the decal and photoetch options more and more to build the cockpits. I also don't like the photoetch seat belts and harnesses, I think this should come part of the molded seat especially in case of resin. Photoetch seatbelts are a lot of work and yes, I am lazy. Next is the engine bits, some intake parts and closing the fuselage...
  5. I think quite a few of those would fit into this. Others can comment better but most obvious ones for me are the F-104G and Lightning F.1/2
  6. Looking forward to see the progress on this one. Please also let us know your thoughts on the kit as you go along.
  7. Thank you, great reference pictures. Interesting colour indeed. Maybe one of the following? https://www.hmhobbies.co.uk/mrp-a071-emerald-green-ral-6001-aqua-17ml.html https://www.hmhobbies.co.uk/mrp-a039-rlm25-hellgrun-aqua-17ml.html https://www.hmhobbies.co.uk/mrp-312-colore-9-verde-also-verde-mimetico-1936-italian-af-1916-1943-30ml.html https://www.hmhobbies.co.uk/mrp-229-wwii-us-interior-dark-dull-green-30ml.html Or I can just use the wheel green.
  8. Thank you for the picture. Looks like simpler paint scheme than the Russian ones as well. 👍 The green on the radome and top of the tail looks interesting. Do you think it is the same as the camo green? Or is it same green Russians use on the wheels. I have MRP-32 from Mr.Paint which I guess I should be able to use. Haha, what are the chances, I ordered a set of these decals last night before seeing this post. 🤣
  9. Here is my entry to the group build. Fingers crossed for a good result as this is a quite complicated kit for my skill level. 🤞 I am planning to finish the model in Syrian Air Force markings but it will probably just the markings as I don't really care about the accuracy much and have no idea if Syria used this Mig-23 variant or not.
  10. Thank you @Jasonb13 I think I decided what model to make for this GB and hopefully it will be within the rules. Even the box claims this is an interceptor with secondary capability of ground attack so fingers crossed.
  11. Hi All, I would like to join to this group build as well if possible. This will be my first group build and indeed first post on britmodeller so please be gentle. Few questions: - Do I need to do anything else to join the GB other than this post and opening a topic for my build? - Would different variants of interceptors acceptable? (i.e. two seater training version of an F-104 like TF-104G?) Same question for multi role aircraft? i.e. Mig-29 with a2a payload? - Can we choose the subject any time between the start of the GB and starting the build topic? Thank you.
