  1. The Komatsu light armored vehicle (Japanese: 軽装甲機動車; (kei-sōkō-kidōsha) is a Japanese military vehicle first produced in 2002. Currently used exclusively by the Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF), it has seen use in the Iraq War. It is built by Komatsu Ltd. Defense Systems Division in Komatsu, Ishikawa, Japan. Komatsu's factory designator for the vehicle is KU50W. The exterior resembles the Panhard VBL, used by the French army, but the LAV has 4 doors and a large cabin for carrying soldiers. The LAV can also be transported by air in vehicles like the CH-47J and the C-130H. Hope you like it.
  2. Started my build. Normal life has got in the way, so progress slow. Tiny model, hard to believe it's 1/35. Same scale Archer Anti tank Gun alongside. Bit of a mere fitting the antenna, Four different versions provided and picked the wrong one to start with! Some tidying up to do. The suspension is not yet fixed, as I'll remove it when priming everything.

I'll probably go for the Armour School Regiment option, complete with machine gun and rear equipment racks.
  4. I've, at least, opened the box and glanced at the instructions. Might need to order some more paint though.
  5. French FT-17 tank by Meng 1/35 'Le TIGRE' with additional figures, motorcycle and my first diorama. Hand brushed using Vallejo paints, with 'Le Tigre' decals kindly donated by fellow modeller Jb65rams. Really enjoyed taking part, and thanks for the encouragement.
  6. On the home straight now. Tank painted and ready for decals and a bit of weathering. I've outlined the camo with a black line since taking these pictures.
  7. Progress on the diorama. Machine gun, sandbags and broken fences also added. Had to paste a cardboard base underneath to stop any flexing and added a wooden trim around the edges to finish it off. Figures, motorcycle and tank to follow.
  8. Progress report. PE parts for the WW1 French Peugeot 1917 Motorcycle arrived and now built. Ordered them from a firm in Australia, BNA Model World, on 6th August and they arrived on 31st. Quicker than expected. Figures now 99% finished, and diorama started (my first effort). The MC was great to build and really detailed. MC with some mud weathering, and stand alone machine gun with ammo boxes and magazine belt Tank crewman, Commander and Despatch rider Diorama base started. Will add tank, motorcycle, figures, stand alone machine gun, sandbags and some broken fences.
  9. Progress pictures. Main body and running gear assembled, with first coat of paint. Figures nearly finished, but need to re-do the eyes (again!). Waiting for the PE parts for the motorbike. Could only find them from and Australian supplier, so they are somewhere on the high seas at the moment. Hope they are worth the wait. Diorama base has arrived, so will work on that next - a first for me.
