  1. Thanks Homer! Thank you Echen, yeah it's certainly the biggest tank in 1/48th I've done! Thank you, I really enjoyed the whole process in particular the weathering with oil paints. 😉 Thank you Longbow, the Jagdtiger was the heaviest armoured fighting vehicle in operation in the second world war so even in 1/48th scale it is a quite big size model! Thank you John, I had lots of fun on this one! 😀
  2. First model of 2021!. Jagdtiger, Tamiya 1/48th. Almost all weathering was done by using Oil Paints and the OPR technique, (no enamels washes or filters) and the last 10% with pigments/X-20A fixer and a little bit of acrylic mud. cheers, Jorge
  3. Thank you very much!. It was a very fun build 😀
  4. Thank you very much John! 😀 Thanks Andrew!. I was concern the effects were not "in scale" and that I overdo them a bit. But as I said, it is my first tank in 10 years so I'm happy Thank you Homer 👍
  5. Thank you! I really enjoyed it and I know will be the first of many 😁
  6. Hi there!, I mostly do aircraft and ships and It's been 10 years since I build a tank. Since then a lot has happened in the armour world with many new publications on weathering techniques. Probably the most difficult part is not to overdo and to get all the effects in scale, which is quite difficult in this smaller 1/48th, but been my first in such a long time I'm quite happy with the result, it is far from perfect but it is a start and the most important thing is that I had a lot of fun! cheers
  7. Thanks swralph. Glad you like it 👍 Hi Pete, thank you!. Since I built my first Ma.K a couple of weeks ago I been enjoining a lot this sort of models, so yeah I'll do more in the future beside my usual historical ones... Hi Stephen, thank you, it was fun! Thanks MickE! glad you like it. I really enjoyed the weathering and painting bit on this one! Since I discovered oil paints they have become my new favourite thing 😉 Thank you James!...to me the AT-ST is very panzer looking, add german dunkelgrau and the iron cross and you are almost done! 😀
  8. This is a “what if” I just finished with an AT-ST from Bandai in 1/48th scale. To me it’s quite clear the influences used to create the Empire aesthetic in the Star Wars universe, so instead of doing it with the usual light grey scheme as seen in the Forest Moon of Endor, I thought to be more interesting to run my imagination free and place it in the eastern front during the second world war. I used some Tamiya 1/48th German Infantry figures and I made this simple vignette with some snow melting and mud. The Bandai kit is really detailed and fit perfectly without the need of glue so I totally recommend it!. To give it a WWII look I give a cast steel texture to the armour plates and I added some big bolts. Colour use was panzer grey from Tamiya and a combination of oil paints from MIG and Abteilung 502 to create the weathering. Cheers and I hope you guys like it! Jorge “Somewhere in the Eastern Front” as usual, any comments are welcome and thanks for looking!
  9. Thank you!. I did it mostly out the box with some minor scratch elements and modifications...Thanks for the grass tip...you are right , it does need more variation 😉
  10. Thank you guys!. yeah I really enjoyed this build and I think it shows. It is not perfect by any means but been my first Ma.K. I'm very happy with the results and more importantly that has opened a new path into my modelling. 😀
  11. My first Ma.K. model. I’m not much into SciFi but as soon as I learned a bit about Maschinen Krieger I was absolutely captivated by the looks and aesthetic of the whole genre. To me is the perfect blend of SciFi and military history…a perfect “what if” sort of thing and especially the German WWII references were a total hook. The coolest thing was how smoothly everything flowed with this build. My approach was of total freedom and to use it for testing techniques I don't usually get to try while doing my aircrafts and battleships. I had the greatest time assembling it and especially during the painting and weathering process. I absolutely loved this model!…so much that I will be surely doing more armour models (and other SciFi) for now on, cause they really give you the chance to explore and try lots of weathering techniques. I know there is plenty of room for improving and polishing some of the techniques, especially the chipping that turned out to be just ok. Please any comments, criticism and tips are welcome! cheers, Jorge
  12. Thank you very much HL-10. I'm happy you like it that much! 😀
  13. Thank you very much 👍 Thank you! yeah, I think so... not sure it was worth it though...I still wish there was a better alternative to do a better job. 😉 cheers
  14. Totally Agree! Hasegawa is constantly pretty good in my opinion. In fact, when young, before I discovered Tamiya, Hasegawa was my favourite brand. Always loved their instructions! Hi Kev67, I really understand your concerns regarding backing the British industry but that is a complete different subject. Is always sad, seen industries (and jobs) get dismantled and moved to different countries just because someone is running a business and making all the money! Now, about Airfix. Mate, I don't doubt your thoughts about the Buccaneer and the Wellington been "great" kits. If you believed that is OK. Me, in the other hand, I've completely lost my faith on Airfix. I've been told many time how good is this or that kit, but really? compared to what? to the terrible old Airfix kit or to the state of the art newer kits from Eduard, Tamiya, Zoukei-Mura, Arma Hobby and many others? I'm done with Airfix for good. cheers
  15. Hi Josip. I don't think the issue has nothing to do with the fact they are made in India. It has been mentioned before there are many different countries involved in the process so if any, the fault is the bad quality control at the top. Who ever is in charged of that is doing an appalling job, wether is in China, India or the UK. I actually also think Airfix has no intention on doing a better job, they are happy in the place they are because they know their fan base will continue to purchase their kits based purely on Nostalgia. I think they have been around almost longer than any other company and they have had endless opportunities to step up and produce something worthy of the 21 century but they still produce old, outdated MEDIOCRE kits! I think is time for them to STOP making those old kits and give a chance to other more serious companies to do a better job. In other words, they are in fact doing more harm than good by still making the older kits. In all fairness maybe the exception to this are some of their 1/24 kits, like the hellcat. I have never seen one but lots of people love them. Unfortunately for me and I believed they great majority, I don't build such bigger scales. Regarding the gun barrels, you are absolutely right. They are WAY too thick. (* yet another BAD job by Airfix!!!) Unfortunately I couldn't find any aftermarket available at the time of the build cheers Jorge
  16. I see... thank you Horatio...I will see if I can fix this. 😉 cheers Jorge
  17. Thanks Horatio, I'm glad you like it 👍 About the stains...I've checked many war time photos (as I always do in any of my builds) and almost all of them show a greyish exhaust stains over the wings...😉 In some instance they even reached the horizontal stabilisers at the back. cheers jorge
  18. looks amazing. Love the finish and paint work. Beautiful 👍
  19. Thanks aerotechi. Glad you like it. To be honest I think I won't be doing any other airfix kit. I reckon I'll be able to find any subject I'm looking done by another manufacturer and chances are it will be a better option anyways 😉. And even if I can't find an alternative I rather not do it at all!. In my book Airfix is not worth the money, time or effort. I absolutely dislike the whole experience, from the box, the plastic, the terrible instruction booklet and so on. I don't have good memories of some Academy and old Monogram kits but in all my years modelling I don't remember any other brand that I dislike more than Airfix. And you know what? Their Lancaster is supposed to be one of their "good ones", they have many other much worse than this one. Never again! PS. At least the smell was coming from the box and the instruction booklet rather than the plastic itself... Thank you Mike 👍
  20. Hi Robertone139, thank you! yeah i like the weathering too, although sometimes I'm wondering if I went to patchy and I should've done an extra thin layer of paint to uniform everything ❓ The flaps came with the kit...no aftermarket 😉 Hi Kev67. Not sure what is the reason for the mediocre quality. You may be right, but aren't almost all company do the same up to an extent? Design in one place, manufacture in China etc etc etc? I don't want to keep blaming Airfix but, I won't be building any other kit from them. I rather have fun and not a bad time... cheers
  21. Hi Jan, Happy you like the model ...here is a work in progress photo of the riveting process: cheers
