  1. Thanks Mike, I am always amazed of the depth of response this forum always provides! Anyway, great info and now on to the modelling! Cheers from the Philippines, Christophe
  2. Thanks Mike, the aircraft chosen is actually AN-V a MK.Vb, as per second picture. The first picture was there for information purpose only. Christophe
  3. Well, thank you all, lots of food for thought though! I think that I will be going for underside color (Azur Blue) for the wells and the legs as shown on AN-T... Even if AN-T is a Vc and AN-V a Vb, it is feasible to believe that they were operating at the same time and would have had similar colors. Then again, as mentioned by Tony, variations seem to be the order of the day, and having no pictures of AN-V on his legs... Christophe
  4. Yep, I will be doing AN-V, I was just curious about the wheel wells color in particular. Christophe
  5. Thank you Tim, that's what i thought too but the below picture kind of confused me as the landing gear legs are the same colore as the underside: Thx, Christophe
  6. Hi, I am currently building Tamiya's Spitfire MK.Vb Trop and being quite a novice for this airplane, could anyone enlighten me on the colour of the landing gear as well as wheel wells? Thank you in advance for your usual cooperation, Christophe
  7. Thanks Mike, very much appreciated. Christophe
  8. Good evening all, It is a long time since I have posted but I am still building, albeit slowly, and of course I do follow the forum on a daily basis! Anyway, under the influence of my 12 years old son, I have started building Tamiya Gloster Meteor F1, and I would really be grateful if someone could confirm the colors for the cockpit, wheels wells, etc... To motivate you, this is what I am trying to finish (british of course!)...: Good night from the sunny and hot Philippines, Christophe
  9. Thank you all as usual for your infos, I am going ahead and using the scheme suggested by Xtradecals, as there is no real solid info or picture that show enough to be conclusive. Christophe
  10. Good evening all, A little question, or a big one maybe, but I am building Eduard BF-109 E3 in the color of Joseph "Pips" Priller, using a decal sheet from XTRADECAL... Now, the issue is, Eduard and XTRADECAL, have 2 very different camoulage schemes for the same machine at the same time: anybody with a little enlightment would be very welcomed! Eduard: XTRADECAL: Thank you, Christophe
  11. Hi Erwin, The Hasegawa Tallboy and Tirpitz raid is available from Lucky Models. Chris
  12. Hi wingman, Do you have any pictures that shows the white bands on the propeller blades? It is one of my projects to make the same plane (number 18?) from the mexican air force, and I do not have any refs about those bands. Thanks in advance, Chris
  13. Shaun, Same as mikeew, use Klear, it's perfect for that! Chris
  14. Pascal, You should be pleased with the result as it looks really good. Chris
  15. Almost fell from my chair, when I saw the pictures... Simply stunning, from such a difficult base to work on, congrats! Chris
  16. Thanks Deon, I did try numerous "new" techniques for me... The prop was painted aluminium, yellow tips added and then black was applied, when dry, it was then carefully sanded with micromesh, varnished and Tamiya pigments applied. The light grey wash was applied over a coat of Klir. The national markings were slightly sanded with Micromesh too (wash for them was glossy sea blue). Just for info, the model was painted using Tamiya and Vallejo acrilycs and automotive paint in cans (bombs)... I am stil waiting for my airbrush!!! Chris
  17. Dave, I have a clear picture (on page 53 of the Bunrin-do) that shows the gap, so you are right and can go ahead with the build as it is. Chris
  18. Don't think that you want to buy a lottery ticket after that... Probably used up all his luck!!!
  19. Thank you for your encouragement, next on the line is a F4U-1D Corsair and hopefully, I would have learnt from my previous mistakes!!! True, a little bit of a US Navy, WWII, Pacific Theater theme going on here... But then again, I am there so it seems like the right thing to do. Chris
  20. Good morning/afternoon/evening/night (use the one that refers to you) all, My first build-up model after a hiatus of 20 years. It definitly is far from some of the standards that I have seen (and been inspired by) here, but it was very enjoyable for the most parts. Built OOB, with the only addition of PE seat belts (Eduard), resin wheels (Contact-Resine), home-made ignition wires (too thin sadly, and almost invisible!) and the base is also home-made but not finished yet (I was too excited to post pictures. Aircraft is fairly weathered as it was for a few months on Falalop island (coral runways) and then on to Tacloban (rainy season, muddy and very hard on the planes in general) for a month A little history to start: This particular Hellcat belonged to the VMF(N) 541 night-fighter squadron or " The Bateye Squadron" and is based at the time represented in Tacloban airfield from December 3rd 1944 to January 6th 1945 on the personal request of General Mc Arthur. This Squadron main task wll be to protect the PT boats operating at night in the Surigao Straights and Samar Straights. In the course of this operation, the Hellcat of VMF(N) 541 will shoot down 22 japanese planes, receiving numerous commendations. As I live in Tacloban, it was my aim to reproduce that aircraft as accuratly as I could with my modest talents!!! A couple of mistakes from Trumpeter, this airplane was equipped with 6x'50 calibers machine guns (not 2x20mm canons and 4x'50 calibers), was not equipped to carry rockets (so, no little stubs under the wings), was carrying bomb's attachment points and finally a mistake I could not correct, it still had the 2 sides windows (I got the info too late to correct that point sadly!)... I did not modify the shape of the aft fuselage (it is not quiet correct) as in the end, it does look like a "Cat from Hell"... That's all folks and once again, thanks to everyone on the forum for providing me with the inspiration to achieve this project with your builds. Now to finish a F4U-1D Corsair, TBM 3 Avenger, SBD 3-4 Dauntless and F4F-4 Wildcat... Don't you just love it! PS: glazing for the landing lights and arresting hook not attached yet at the time of pictures (once again too excited) Christophe

  22. Well, I want to join the growing community of britmodellers to thank Blimp for his kindness with helping this GB. I received today 2 JU 87 A (Special Hobby and Hi-Tech) and a Heinkel 112 B from RS Model, all great kits. Come anytime in my part of the world, we'll take good care of you. Chris PS: great Britmodeller spirit!
  23. UK, I wouldn't know from the top of my head, but it is available direct from Eduard... Which version of the Harvard are you making? I believe that there were 2 different canopies (Harvard 1 and 2 had the same and the Harvard 4 (similar to the T-6G Texan) had a different one IIRC...)... Hope this will help a little. Chris
