This GB is on my list of probable GBs. I'll likely be in with a HAF Mirage 2000-5...unless I've got a hankering for a car of some sorts by that time (got a couple Ferraris & Lambos to choose from).
Whatever you choose will be welcome (but I'd really love to see the Mirage)

Thanks for the video @Wings unlevel!
Did the RAAF never adopt the canards?
They were developed in Switzerland during the works for a midlife upgrade for our IIIS/RS.
Rumours say the Israeli „acquired“ the canard plans in order to build their Kfirs with canards.
It may well be possible that by the time we fitted canards you guys were already on a more modern jet. We tend to suck all the life out of our jets before we finally get new ones
.
Sam
The Aussies never got canards on their Mirages. A lot of their aircraft got a further lease of life in Pakistan.

Hi,
I'm thinking of an Italian F-104S for this one.
Cheers, Stefan.
Eccellente!

Some interesting stuff there for sure, welcome along.

I'm toying with a Greek spitfire so Greece is getting plenty of love from this GB.

Still not sure what I'll build yet, but I've got a few options in the stash: Airfix and Italeri AV-8S Matadors, Airfix Bristol Beaufighter with some fetching Portuguese markings, a somewhat leftfield Burago metal kit of an Alfa Romeo 156 or an Italeri Hellenic A-7 Corsair II.
At the moment I'm leaning towards the A-7H after finding this article on their retirement from the Greek air force:
I really love a grubby SLUF in that camo scheme!
The Portuguese Beaufighter would be an interesting addition to this GB as would the Matadors.
As much as I love a grubby SLUF, don't forget there's also the Last of the Gunfighters' & 'Slufs' (Crusaders & Corsair IIs) stgb should you find you don't have the time to get it into this GB but still want to make it.

Welcome in at #30 and I hope we do get in next year. Oh @Enzo the Magnificent I think we can qualify for the next bunfight ? Let me know if I’m wrong ?
This has to qualify as the quickest of qualifications for a GB slot ever!
I don't understand it, plainly the subject is hugely popular, why hasn't it qualified before?
Keep the pressure up Dennis, build a following and this has to go through 3rd time lucky!

Gidday, it's a fair way off and plans have been known to change, but if I can safely remove the molded-on bulges without the hull collapsing I'm planning to convert the Airfix Belfast kit into HMS Sheffield.
Regards, Jeff.
Jeff,
It would be great to see a Shiny Sheff in the GB. I must say, I'd lack the courage to do such work.
@Giorgio N many thanks for taking the time to answer the questions regarding the Italian Spitfires.

Does Turkey count, I have a two seater Fury that comes in Turkish markings looking for a home since he fury GB didn’t make the cut.
Turkey does not count I'm afraid, it's still considered a part of the Middle East

Hi @Wez
Seeing as Monaco and Italy are included you can add me to the list as well please as I have a fair stash of F1 and rally cars that fit the bill
Might be a nice distraction building something relatively simple in the middle of the Go large GB with a 1/12 F1 car, might turn out as a mojo boost and sanity check

Ian
Great, it would be great to see something other than aircraft in this GB, I'm really looking forward to some eclectic choices.
6 hours ago, DaveJL said:Glad this one made it through! My entry will most likely be a Spanish Eurofighter but I do have all the bits for a Hellenic F-4E in the stash. We'll see
Either would be very welcome as we don't see enough Greek or Spanish choices.
22 hours ago, RidgeRunner said:It all sounds perfectly reasonable, Wez. Unless anything changes and my fickle brain concocts something else, I will be going with a Spanish TF-104G
Talking of Spanish subjects, an excellent choice Martin!

Nocciola Chiaro Verde/Oliva Scuro, apparently!Really? A total repaint? I would have thought it was Dark Green/Dark Earth/Azure Blue. when was this aircraft in service?
Attractive subject though without a shadow of a doubt.

Right, now this GB is in the calendar, I thought I'd better define the geographical context to this GB.
This GB is open to any subject from any southern European nation that has a coastline on the Mediterranean Sea including the Adriatic and Aegean seas plus Portugal who often get missed out. For countries such as France and the former Yugoslavia, only those regions on the coast are eligible.
So your eligible subjects can come from:
Portugal
Spain
Gibraltar
France (from the following regions: Occitaine, Provence-Alpes-Côte D'Azur and of course, Corse (Corsica),
Monaco
Italy (including all of the islands)
Malta
Slovenia
Croatia
Bosnia-Herzegovina
Montenegro
Yugoslavia pre break up
Albania
Greece
Cyprus
This also includes subjects from antiquity from these countries.
This also equipment from countries outside of this area that were permanently based there (e.g. 56 Sqn RAF on Lightnings were based in Cyprus so that's acceptable, but 56 Sqn RAF with Phantoms only went there on detachment e.g. APC, so that wouldn't be acceptable). Eligible subjects also include wartime rotations such as the RAF Sqns or the RN Submarines based in Malta or any ship assigned to Force H in Gibraltar.
Cars raced in the Monaco GP would be acceptable too.
Hopefully we'll get a lot of varied and interesting subjects with this GB, I'm looking forward to it!
You've got until 10th June 2023 to decide what you're going to do!

Eh, somebody's *gotta* ask this, and it may just as well be me... Are e.g. airplanes from non-Southern European countries with a coastline that are/were on a long term based in Southern European countries with a coast line, in places like Ta Qali, Comiso, Iraklion, Foggia, Cagliari, Aviano etc eligible in this Group Build?
Already been asked, see below:

Having played a low-key campaign during the poll without any of the
arm twisting wheedling pleadingmethods that some others may have resulted to...
...we qualified for a slot in next year's GBs!
Many thanks to all that voted for us.
Just waiting for the wrangling over slots to finish now.
Now however is the time to put out a request for a Co-host or indeed Co-hosts for this GB, if you're interested please let me know.

Patrice,
Congratulations!
I'll be your co-host (or at least one of them should you be overwhelmed with other volunteers).

As I'm going to be out of the country for significant periods of time, I'd like to avoid slots that cover those dates.
For me, the 1st, 2nd and 8th slots suit me best, at a pinch I could manage the 3rd slot but would be leaning on my co-host a lot at the tail end of that slot.
At the moment I don't have a co-host but will be
applying some pressureasking for a volunteer, if not a volunteer then a pressed individual will do.23 minutes ago, TEMPESTMK5 said:Good morning Enzo
So far I don't have a co ost but I will ask if someone is interested ...
I would like to take the 2nd or the 3rd slot
Thank you for all your work
Best Regards
Patrice
Patrice,
If I read the results correctly, your qualifying GB is the Dassault/Bloch GB in which case, count me in as your co-host.
