  1. Wow that is one outstanding Wessex, hats off to you
  2. XM569 looks in great condition now. I was looking at Google Earth and scrolled back to 2005; the cockpit used to be stored next to a builders yard just north of the threshold of runway 09, along with two Meteor's and a Buccaneer in Desert Pink. Strangely enough a workfriend of mine was a Flight Mechanic with 50 Squadron at Waddington in the 80's and he showed me a photograph of him and the flight mechanics posing on XM569, he's the one sitting down 3rd from the left, Paul Johnson (PJ). This photograph is also on the Vulcans In Camera website: cheers Chris
  3. Are you sure this is the Cardiff Valiant? My information tells me the Cardiff Valiant was XD826; the nose in the album you've linked is XD875 Chris
  4. I've had a scan about and my memory was correct, there was a Valiant nose at the museum afterall, Valiant B Mk.1 XD826: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/35mm-colour-slid...e-/200636031408 I knew my memory wasn't lying to me! Chris
  5. I remember visiting the museum a few times as a kid back in the 80's, and my father would always drive past slowly if we was down that way. I remember there being a cafe in the Cambrian Airways Viscount, which had a beige/taupe interior, with the cockpit door wide open so you could see all the instruments, etc. I also remember there being a small white hovercraft on show, any clues? I vaguely remember sitting in a Gnat cockpit aswell, but I could be wrong it may have been another cockpit. I also remember the Vulcan B1 nose, but I always thought it was a Valiant nose??? I seem to recall the conduit from the refuelling probe?? However the following link clears up my memories, please check it out: http://ciapoldiescorner.blogspot.com/2009/...aft-museum.html Chris
  6. Quite a rare site around here and one which made my day; a Tornado GR.4 low, loud and with wings swept forward, heading south. From the South Wales Aviation Group site: Inbound at 14:54 for an approach is "Tirpitz 2" Tornado GR.4 ..go-round 15:02 and departed at low level to the Southwest
  7. I was surprised by the size of the Lancaster to; the photo below shows it off a bit better. It was a shame not to see the Hurricane, it was on the schedule to be participating in the flypast and it did display at Biggin Hill over the weekend, so......????
  8. Morning folks, went down to Cardiff/Rhoose airport yesterday to see the Lancaster and Spitfire depart for the flypast over Cardiff. I had a lump in my throat on hearing those Rolls Royce Merlins, the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. Not the best of photographs but hope you like, they were taken from the Flying Club in Rhoose thanks for looking Chris
  9. If the sky is clear I see two or three C-17's a day up at about 30'000 feet or thereabouts, flying east from the States to the UK or onto Afghanistan, aswell as the usual passenger traffic (very busy corridor here over South Wales). Last Saturday a Sea King HAR.3 buzzed the village (possibly been to the aid of a girl who'd fallen from her horse at Aberavon beach). Then on Wednesday x2 RAF Merlins buzzed the village, possibly on their way to MOD St. Athan but who knows. The rarest aircraft I've seen about here recently is a Percival Provost in 1950's silver paint with yellow fuselage and wing stripes, with the RAF roundels. That made my day!
  10. I've always wondered what happened to the strop after take-off; were they retrieved or lost? I presume they were lost?
  11. Good morning, I have to give up modelling for a few years but I don't want to sell of all of my equipment, kits and consumables. Basically I want to store everything away in the loft BUT will Tamiya, Citadel, Xtracrylix, Vallejo acrylics and Alclad's store ok in the conditions, i.e. boiling hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. Will they go off, dry-up, harden? etc. The same also applies to all the other consumables I have acquired - glues, varnishes, decal setting solutions, etc. Promodeller washes will be ok I'm confident of that. thanks for your help Chris
  12. Italeri have released their 1/48 Red Arrows Hawk, retails at around £27.00 regards CJ
  13. Ok guy's that's great, thanks for your help. Italeri have made a mistake but not to worry, 4 FTS it'll have to be cheers
  14. Hi there, a question for you, do the FRADU Hawks carry any weaponry? I'm doing the Italeri 1/48 Hawk in the FRADU scheme, and as per the instructions I have fitted the gun pod, BUT looking at photos of FRADU Hawks I can't find any with the gun pod fitted. cheers Chris
  15. Hi Paul, Flightpath do them, there's probably other manufacturers but this one stands out at the moment, http://home.clara.net/djparkins/fltpath/fpmaster.htm regards Chris
  16. An absolute stunner of a Lightning, looks like the real thing. Well done, you should be proud of your modelling skills regards Chris
  17. Awesome photo, love it. I'd love to see the other photos for reference for my Vulcan build, would that be ok? cheers Chris
