  1. Chinook flying west about 2pm, then back about 4:30pm. I bet it was attending the scene of this Chinook incident: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-18913394 Chris
  2. Apache AH.1 flying north-west low and loud, rare sight on a Sunday but worthwhile. Military choppers are on the increase around South Wales, wonder why?
  3. Amazing, well done. The humbrol tin really puts it in perspective
  4. Looks like pointless vandalism to me, have you clicked on the link posted above? The photograph dated May 3rd 2012 shows the instrument panel mostly intact, the photograph dated June 15th 2012 shows the panel with mostly smashed instruments. So in the month between photographs some scrote(s) has been having a go at that panel.............
  5. I see some tosser(s) have smashed the instrument glass, tut tut
  6. Two hawks heading towards St. Athan or Cardiff Airport; possibly came from Valley to collect the aircrew from a 4 FTS Hawk that landed at Cardiff around 3:45pm following a birdstrike.
  7. If I was fortunate enough to be able to emigrate to Australia or Canada I would definitely go and leave this crap climate behind, but even so I would miss the UK.
  8. Apache AH.1 flying southeast below the weather, right over the house
  9. That's effing mental, they must be paid well for that risky job
  10. Cool, are you living close to one of the ranges down west? Chris
  11. Evening all, finally started my build and started with adding the Flightpath brass and some 0.5mm lead brake wires to the undercarriage. I'll go back over them with an airbrush and handbrush later to finish them off I'm at this stage with the airframe, I haven't shown in detail how I sorted out the intakes, etc. as it's been covered already. But the method I used was superglue and talcum powder to blend in the seams, along with Squadron green putty. I've scribed all the panel lines by placing a steel rule directly alongside the raised panel lines and scribing away, then sanding off the raised lines leaving the recessed panel lines behind. I think they came out well. I've yet to cut away the 301 jetpipes and fit the resin 201 pipes supplied with the Flightpath set. The cockpit is flat black the cabin windows have been drilled out, these will be filled with Micro Kristal Klear to form the windows. Top of fuselage showing scribed panel lines (filled with sanding dust) Below is a scribed underwing with landing lamp recess drilled out; this will be filled flush with PVA glue so that it dries clear Next up is fitting the 201 jetpipes, cleaning the airframe of dust, sorting out any minor niggles with seams, and priming. regards Chris
  12. It was a bit poor weren't it, expected a lot more. Was that the planned flypast or were there other aircraft supposed to be joining in?
  13. A vintage WW1 biplane flying low in circles and dipping his wings, fantastic sight
  14. Fantastic. Really have to start mine one of these days......
  15. Welcome to the group build Icarus, does that boxing include the Blue Steel missile? regards Chris
  16. Sounds about right, cheers for that. Might buy one now regards Chris
  17. Hi there, just looking up the 1/72 TSR.2 dimensions and Airfix's website (and others) say that the 1/72 Stratos TSR.2 is 137mm long and 157mm wide? This is obviously/surely not correct because that would make it tiny. What are the correct dimensions? regards Chris
  18. Hi Mike, I will be portraying her as a display aircraft. I may build her as she is today with the new aerials and the patchy paintwork or as she was back in the 90's before she was hangared. We shall see regards Chris
  19. I think I'll join this one as I've been a member since July '08 and haven't posted any of my builds yet, so I'll be building the Airfix B.2 as XH558 with a few extras: Flightpath B.2 brass detail set Rescribe all panel lines Scratch populate wheel wells with Evergreen styrene and Plusmodel lead wire Reference material: WarbirdTech Avro Vulcan by Kev Darling regards Chris
  20. Lovely! However I'm scratching the wheel wells and making my own canopy masks for mine.
  21. More great news for St. Athan following the arrival of the Hunters: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-17906058
