1/72 scratch built microlight?
VulcanXH558 replied to wellsprop's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Very cool, I don't think I've seen a microlight being modelled/scratchbuilt before, so kudos. As above I'd also like to know what the donor kits are- 18 replies

Tucano just went over flying towards Swansea, looked like the RAF 2013 display aircraft. Probably on it's way to Swansea for the airshow this weekend Edit: confirmed as Tucano ZF239 http://cardiffstathan.blogspot.co.uk/ He must have been checking out Swansea Bay before landing back at Cardiff

When the jar fills up pour the contents into a bigger container and store that in a cool place out of the sun until it's full, then take it to your local recycling centre.

WOW! BoBMF Dakota ZA947. Quite low flying north. Lovely engine note that I've not heard before. That has made my day.

Great to see old photos like this. Was XH479 a B1 Vulcan?

RIAT 2013 Super Early Bird Offer: Are they having a laugh?
VulcanXH558 replied to JeffreyK's topic in Real Aviation
I'll be going regardless of the line-up because my brother gets free RIAT tickets every year (BAE Systems engineer) -
Outstanding diorama. It reminded of when I was a kid and was poking around the local scrapyard, which has long gone. I remember there being a wooden crate with the nose of this type of Wessex inside it, with the probe attached. It was in the same dark blue colour as "Humphrey", the Wessex HAS.3 used in the Falklands. There was also other aircraft parts which I think were from Gnats or could have been Hawks, not entirely sure as it was back in the late 80's early 90's.

Alaska Airliner B737-200
VulcanXH558 replied to brad shinn's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Superb, that looks real! Would love to get my hands on this kit if I had the disposable cash. I'd love to have one in the old 80's Britannia Airways, British Airtours or BA livery -
I watched that, they were carrying out the expedition aboard one of Microsoft's founders vessels, The Octopus. They tried to remove the bell but it fell deeper into the wreck as you say. They were on about the magazine exploding. What is the famous WW2 footage of a battleship rolling over and exploding? It wasn't the Hood was it?

Thanks for the advice Dave, appreciated. I contacted Airfix and they've sent me a replacement decal sheet which is much better than the one I had, the decals are much thinner. Excellent service from Airfix. cheers Chris

Good morning all, happy new year to you all. I am in the finishing stages of modelling Vulcan XH558 from the Airfix kit but the kit decals are incredibly thick and I fear that they will not bed down with MicroSet and MicroSol. I do not want to ruin all the work that's gone into the model so are there any aftermarket decals available for XH558 as a display aircraft? I can't find any. If not (as I doubt) is there a tried and tested method of applying thick decals? kind regards Chris

A masterpiece

Wow, that's mad. Why do so many cars in Russia have on-board cameras? Is it for insurance purposes if they have an accident?

Beautiful, well done. Chris

Here's a photograph of an RAF Puma in the back of a C-17, with the rotors removed for transportation: I've come across one or two other photographs of RAF Puma's in storage and being unloaded from ships with the rotors removed aswell: Chris

Hi Selwyn, although this is not an RAF machine the rotors are folded on this French Puma: Chris

Shame that the flypast didn't include Saints; seeing as the type was serviced and overhauled there for nearly 20 years and wouldn't be in the air without the work that Saints did

A Chinook flew that way around 2pm this afternoon, then back about 4:30pm. Probably attended the scene
