  1. Replacement cowling perhaps? Nice build, I have a couple of 190 projects to do on my return to modelling. Pesky kids why do they need a bedroom
  2. That cockpit is great, a wash would really set it off. Keep it up.
  3. Thanks Tony great links, I still need a good acrylic colour match though, I cant find it referenced anywhere.
  4. Simple questions really. Any 1/48 AM Decals out there for these whirlybirds? What is a good colour match?
  5. Snap, they were originally for the old CRT TV sets.
  6. Dont post often but the outer ring on the fuse roundell does not look yellow in the original pic, seems red to me.
  7. This is fantastic! Should there not be a locking nut on the helmet for the visor?
  8. I recycle my sprue by creating my own filler, liquid poly in a jar with cut up bits of sprue added. You can make it thick or thin and it works really well.
  9. Hi all, this is my first post of my work here although I have been lurking for a while. It is also my 1st ever armour build as I usually do wingy things. I have been back at the hobby for about a year but modeling time is almost zero at the moment as the spare room is currently a nursery and used to be my den. A new house with Garage is much needed! Anyway here is my Russian Sherman, built completely OOB and painted with Tamiya acrylics, Vallejo model Air and good old Halfords primer. Any comments/suggestions welcome although be gentle I am no rivet counter and tend to go along the lines of if it looks right it is right. Cheers.
  10. I shall also be watching this with interest, but I think you will find that to be Richard Hammond in Voodoo and not Mr Cruise, he clearly has brown hair!
  11. Or use a stencil and spray them on, this is how you do the stars and bars, spray the white and apply the printed decal over the white.
  12. Ahh the dentist, I have spent a few houyrs at one of those over the last couple of years for some implants, believe me, you think you know pain! Good luck with that and the shopping trip, try not leave with too many new kits as well!
  13. Hello, my first post so be gentle. I will offer advice as best I can. 1. Yes you can buy blank decal paper for you inkjet printer, I have bought it in the past from Squadron. 2. For the pinstripe I would paint the gold on first, a few thin coats with the AB. Then mask the stripe and paint my white then blue sections, again carefully masking them. Tamiya masking tape is a must have here. 3. Use CA on the etch but a medium viscosity along with an accelerator this will allow you to move the part around a little before the glue sets then hit it with the accelerator and the glue will set instantly. Just remember the fumes will hang around on the part so wait a while before sticking any more PE in that area as it will set on you straight away. I use a pair of good quality cuticle shears from boots to cut the PE from the fret, then sand the gate remnant away with flat nosed pliers and a sanding stick. It is a good idea to anneal the parts before painting, this involves heating with a ligher then cleaning up once cool. Always prime the PE parts once fitted at the same time as the styrene parts to get a consistant colour. 4. A razor saw is the best option to cut the canopy, put masking tape on first to avoid the canopy splintering, I always fill the part with plastacene as well to stop it distorting. 5. Your idea for the arrestor hook seems spot on to me. Good luck and I hope I have offered good advice.
