  1. How could I possibly tell you off Laurie. I know a thing or two about the Hunter but by no means an expert. Thank you for the kind words though πŸ‘
  2. Hi Folks Just a bit of an update. Ive thought long and hard about a few things. I was going to do a full on detailed flaps/air-brake down job, however the AM parts although good quality the instructions are appalling, too much time I'm afraid. So I decided to do it how I remembered it. All aircraft would land with flaps/airbrake in the up position. The only time you would see them down was on pilot pre-flight checks or some of the older ones would overnight droop by an inch or so. I dont recall it been both on the flap & airbrake at the same time though. Going to try my hand at pre & post shading on this kit as Ive never done it before. Will also be a great test for my next project which Im really looking forward to Will be back soon Take care Si
  3. Thanks Alan much appreciated. As I said to Chris bit more to go, I could leave as is but just to satisfy myself really. Si
  4. Thank you Chris much appreciated. On closer inspection I'm going to have to get the sanding sticks out again, but hopefully not too much work🀞 Si
  5. Thanks John, will keep going to the end and hopefully 🀞will be plain sailing 😱
  6. Hi Folks Just a bit of an update. As I mentioned at the start of this I have picked this build up from where I left off in 2000. Cockpit was almost completed. So up until now its been just the bigger parts Reason for saying this, good news, I can now confirm that my fit problems have been 21 years in the loft. I hadn't looked at the sprue's because I was doing the bigger bits but when I did they are really bowed. So hopefully you folks wont experience these problems with yours, just my bad storage. OK wont bore you with the rest of the filling/sanding stuff Hope this helps. Long way to go yet but enjoying it. Take care & safe Si
  7. Thanks Chris I'm hoping in a funny way that its mine being in the loft for 20 years that's the problem. I've just glued the rear end of the intakes, wait for it to dry and move forward a bit. Will let you know how it goes 😱πŸ₯΄ Si
  8. Must admit Laurie when I came across this honestly the first thing I thought was it surely cant be as bad as some of the things you have had to contend with. Time will tell and I will keep you posted Thanks for the kind words Laurie much appreciated Si
  9. Hi Folks Just a bit of an update I fear Im going to hit a few problems soon so thought I would do this now before I go any further. Just a bit of background, I bought this kit some time in 1999, the kit was released in 1998 so far the moulds are great, very little flash or any sort of major clean up required and fit of parts is very good. As you can see by the pictures though there maybe a bit of a problem (not insurmountable). I have no idea if this is a kit problem or the fact that mine has been languishing in my loft for the last 20 or so years, I would like to think its the latter. I will let you know how the next stage goes So far So potential problem And lastly the left hand pic shows the forward (nose) fuselage section, the right the rear fuselage section. All quite flexible so shouldn't be too much of a problem. Like I say this could be because its been in my loft for so long WHARPS If my rubbish explanation is not clear then please let me know and I will try again Either way I hope this is of use. Take care & safe Si
  10. Looking good Laurie just a shame about the windscreen. I'm sure though you have encountered worse things on some of your other kits. I just admire your determination "for certain it will be finished". I'm sure it will look an absolute cracker. Really looking forward to seeing it the Jersey apron Si
  11. Very nice Laurie. Pauline has made a superb job, very colourful, and to attract our little feathered friends is great (well apart from disease ridden pigeons that is).
  12. Hi John I dont mind at all, thank you for pointing it out. Will rectify before its too late. Take care & safe Si
  13. Thanks SallysDad When you say Future is that whats currently known as Pledge which I use before I apply decals, think it was once called Klear? Excuse my ignorance Thanks again Si
  14. Thanks Laurie much appreciated. Will get the big camera out and give it a go. As with a lot of things nowadays using the phone camera is convenient and quick but not always the best. Going to be doing another post shortly so will give it a try. Thanks again Si
  15. I agree. Im going to use the rest of the set as I want the flaps & air brake slightly lowered. Will see what happens The worst though is the instructions, they are awful
  16. Thanks Matt Ive been back into the hobby now for 18 months plus. It was just after my last build I was a bit undecided what to do. I narrowed it down to three kits and asked friends and family to choose for me, the Hunter came out on top, so I resumed that. My first kit I did when I started back was an Airfix 1/24 Hurricane. Not sure if Ive posted it on here as Ive not been a member for that long. Thanks again Si Thanks Chris
  17. Hi Folks Cockpit tub and seat complete. The control panel & throttle are from Flightpath, nice quality but the instructions are a lot to be desired. I dry fitted the tub to the front fuselage halves before fitting the control panel and it was spot on. However, after fitting the control panel I have quite large gaps, though it doesn't look like its that thats causing the problem. Will cross that bridge when I come to it and let you know Never been a great fan of this type of picture, taken on a smart phone, as you have very little control. I feel it looks a lot better in the flesh so to speak Will have to get by big camera out and start doing it that way I think. Hope you like so far Take care Si
  18. Nice work indeed Laurie Always been a bit afraid, if that's the right word about filling and re-scribing. But looking at these and previous pics you have posted makes me much more confident, especially when you see the end result. Lovely touch with Boris and Gertrude. I wonder how difficult it would be for Boris to be be giving Gertrude a bunch of flowers in 1/72. Just a thought but if anyone an do it, I know a man who can. Superb work Laurie and I look forward to the next installment πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘Œ Si
  19. Thanks sanfrandragon I do like to do something different. However my current project is hardly different, Hawker Hunter. Now I normally get this sort of thing wrong, but would I be right in saying that sanfrandragon has something to do with Wales? Thanks again Si
  20. You are very welcome Chris. Do you have the whole Flightpath set, gun pack, access ladder & towbar? Si
  21. You certainly may Chris and if I should come across any difficulties I will let you know. The kit itself though looks really really nice, even without any updates Thanks Si
