  1. I've got a few Russian tanks to build with winter camouflage options. They paint schemes seem to be all over white or white and blue. What I want to know is, am I right in thinking these would only temporary and painted over the top of a green base...including the white and blue variant?
  2. Does anyone know exactly how the track guards should fit on the Mirage Vickers Light Tank/T-26? Like the real tank they have a "common" chassis hence the solution applies to both. Those familiar with the kits will know that the track guards run down the full length of the tank. The instructions state to remove any rivet detail that gets in the way. Where I have a problem with these models is that if the side frames are perfectly flat, when you fit them to the front end of the frames you end up with a 1/2mm step. I'm sure the inside edges should actually be flush which would mean that you would need to cut a step down a good length of the track guard where it meats the main tank body, that way a flush fit at the front is possible.
  3. I had a look at the plans albeit I couldn't find them. The IWM tip was good - never thought of that and you can download a low res version which is perfect. I'm guessing the size of the Bridge spars on the S and S models is correct so I can use them as template for an open frame version. What was good with the IWM pictures is they were taken at the "proving ground" so you get to see it partially deployed. Certain details I suppose would be a compromise at 1/72.
  4. Thanks for the replies folks, its a good starting point
  5. Hello there folks, Does anyone have pictures or plans for the Scissor Bridge that was used on smaller British AFV's like the Valentine etc. S and S Models do a conversion kit but I suspect like the Churchill ARVE Bridge Layer conversion, the main bridge pieces will be solid with recessed areas representing the frame. I plan on using the white metal hull parts to do the conversion but would then scratchbuild my own bridge frames...but I need a proper plans or some descent pictures if I use the resin pieces as a starting point, Regards Steve C
  6. This Airfix model turned out better than I thought. Though it was tiny and will probably end up the smallest physically in my collection it was quite nice to do albeit in some areas the instructions were little bit vague.
  7. I went for "Panzer Grey" on mine lol! Ignore the milliput gun mount, as I replaced the original machine gun with a Tamiya one and fibre optic
  8. As my second "proper" model I tackled the Airfix Churchill Bridgelayer. I modded it slightly so you can elevate the arm to vertical as it has to be mounted in a fixed position. Can't help feeling that there were some glaring errors in what is essentially an Airfix "conversion". The rear cylinder leans downwards meaning the piston would slide clear out of the channel, The front arms, that mount the pivot unit also seemed too long so I chopped them back. The upshot of this is when the pivot arm goes vertical the angled frames butt against the front of the tank at the right angle... Two Airfix Churchills down, one to go!
  9. Well after a long time I decided to do some small scale WW2 AFVs....Seems I forgot what a %^&&%&& the Airfix Churchill is but I think I did a reasonable job in the end! Then I bought the Airfix Bridgelayer and Crocodile as I'm a real sadist!!!!
  10. Hi there, folks, Thought I'd better introduce myself. I used to build lots of models,,,about 20 years ago but recently returned to small scale 1/72, 1/72 AFV's. I got some 1/16 scale RC monsters and quite frankly you can't have too many of them as they eat space at an alarmingly rate and trap dust at an even bigger rate. I also do 3D rendering and have my own superhero series called Atlantica2200 at www.atlantica2200.co.uk Both hobbies work together as whilst the laptop is crunching numbers its out of commission and so I can build!
