You need to think of the Intruder as a dump truck. All types of bombs, and tank combinations were carried depending on what the mission was. I would suggest looking for aftermarket tanks like the one you have. Normal tanking mission would be four tanks on the wing pylons and the back up refueling pod on the center line pylon. Some KA-6Ds were a bit more colorful than line birds so it might be worth reconsidering. Norm

I think you are over thinking this. Consider the F-35 as an airplane with a bunch of weapons racks attached. There is a list of what it can carry on those racks. So it can and will carry all of those weapons as required for the mission or task at hand at any time. Due to the stealth configuration, external pylon use probably is not going to be the first choice unless the target is in a safe area. So you probably can hang whatever seems appropriate.
