  1. @RC Boater Bill That makes yer modern pale grey warplanes look even duller than usual!
  2. Another fab addition Jon. As I type I’m sitting on a ski lift in Austria, will update the list when I’m home.
  3. Afternoon all. I'm going away for a week tomorrow, so no modelling for me, and as I'll be in landlocked Austria I certainly won't be able to able to smell the sea air. I'll have my laptop with me so will do my best to look in from time to time, and will give the Build List an update on my return. I believe @Col. is on the bridge! Have a great weekend! Tony
  4. Both of those and they're lovely, especially the Mallard which is very special, but I found myself getting most worked up at the sight of a Class 31 diesel locomotive in classic blue/yellow British Rail livery, probably because it resembles the one in my Hornby train set when I was a kid, and especially the Inter City 125. When I was eight (1977) my mum put me on one of these in Bradford for my Uncle Harry to meet me on the platform at King's Cross. An eight year old travelling alone! Imagine that! Different times... The "Buck Rogers" train I referred to was this pretty thing: It isn't particularly small but it's crammed with stock and was rammed with people. The owner is a great one for the upsell - I didn't buy any more kits (because that would be ridiculous), but I did buy a Humbrol workstation in an attempt to make myself a more organised builder (ain't never gonna happen), when he gave me a carrier bag for the box he said "There's room for plenty more in that, sir!" Spied me looking at his Eduard Spitfires methinks...
  5. Stunning example of an icon of naval aviation! I fell your pain with all the tiny wee stencils...
  6. Looking fantastic Jeff, and all the more remarkable because it's scratch built.
  7. Absolutely, welcome aboard. That's a subject we haven't seen yet and will be a welcome addition to the Build List.
  8. Just catching up, this is an unusual build (for me at least) and looking (not plastic) fatastic!
  9. Looks fantastic all primed up. For me one of the most satisfying parts of any build. Looking forward to some colour going on!
  10. Is "Part" the name of the company? I feel your pain! Build coming along nicely.
  11. That's a beautifully detailed cockpit. Is this quite a big model in 1/48?
  12. Funnily enough I used that expression when talking to Queen Mary about one of the locomotives at the National Railway Museum last weekend. She didn't know what I was talking about. I used to love those cliffhanger TV serials off of the olden days. Buster Crabbe, what a guy. Played Tarzan, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers, and an Olympic gold medallist to boot. That's a great lineup of models there, as you say a very unique look to them, must've looked very space-age at the time. Yer modern jet fighters are utterly boring in compaison, IMHO.
  13. That's a lot of plane for a single seater! Wonder how the pilot accessed the cockpit? Looking great, this is going to be a very striking build for sure.
  14. Strange looking little plane, over a thousand of them built though so they must have done something right. great build Pat.
  15. That's a fabulous looking paint job. Very sleek.
  16. If there was a prize for best saline/canine/maritime pun it'd be yours, sir. Your longship is looking fantastic. I'm looking forward to the dragon's head (cos I'm 12, basically...)
  17. That's very impressive, good to see this one up and running. I like the detail on the seats, especially.
  18. You certainly seem to have a lot going on what with the Israeli stuff too Luke. I've seen your completed silver Spit in various places, and it looks like this will be equally impressive!
  19. Pic two looks like it is sinking 😁 Great progress.
  20. Indeed. This is why for Spits I like Eduard Profipacks and Special Hobby over Airfix - the etch comes in the box. Tamiya stepped up a bit with their new Mk I with the inclusion of an etch sheet.
  21. Sorted out that damaged squadron code, applied a light oil wash and put a flat coat on. I’ll be having a go at a bit of additional weathering with chalks next, but I won’t be getting any bench time for 10 days or so now. Still, getting there.
  22. I won’t be seeing any bench time for 10 days or so now, but this is where I’m up to. The wings are pretty much there, I got the cannon stubs something like and fitted one of the resin cannon but infuriatingly I’ve lost the other one! (Where does this stuff go?) I’ll probably go with brass aftermarket cannon. I’ve polished up the wingtip lights and they don’t look bad. The fit of the fuselage to the wings is poor, fettling underway. And there’s some dry PPP waiting for sanding to sort out the joins. Getting there!
