That's a stunner!
-
I've seen this book mentioned a lot and it seems like a mine of information, but every time I've looked for a copy they've been quite expensive!
-
Bet it was a sod to land on a carrier though...
-
Got a couple of them in the stash actually. Bigger, bulkier, more engines.
-
The registration gets it extra cool points. Looks fantastic in those colours. Really nice.

If you find a stockist that has some in let me know, I'll buy in bulk. Build looks stunning.
-
That is interesting. If it's no hassle for you I wouldn't mind exploring that.
-
Thanks Dennis, I'll see how I get along with my current build and if there is a month of space the other side I'll probably have a crack. (I'm that slow!)

Ooops my mistake!

@John Masters' build sets the bar pretty high!

Hasegawa 1/72 Grumman Avenger II

Oooh right up my street! Cracking job. -
Thanks @Wez for all that background! I was eyeing up the upcoming classic GB... there is a very cheap Smer Corsair kit that I believe is ex-Heller that might allow me to put a toe in the water and stay within my FAA obsession. I did a Corsair recently (Airfix) but it was a bit of a mutt and I'm sure I could do one better...

And all that in 1/72!

Looks great. FAA planes always looked proper classy in that colour scheme. -
That looks fantastic. I'd never hear of Arma before yesterday. I'm tempted by this one.
-
Makes sense. Thank you.

Just been having a read through this build as I have the same kit in my stash and I'm planning to make it my next attempt, albeit in the blue/white "admiral's barge" scheme (your end result looks stunning). I have very little experience with these short run kits, so I expect it to be "challenging". I hope you don't mind me referring to your experience for tips. All that palaver with the wings looks a bit scary...

Airfix 1/48 Sea Fury Fb.11 Export
TonyOD replied to LFXmodeller's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Looks awesome! I did the 1/72 Airfix Sea Fury years ago and would like to revisit the type to see if I can do a better job of it now. I have the PM models trainer version in the stash, I think it's a variation on the old Airfix kit, it's pretty crude but there are some aftermarket bits I could use to tart it up a bit. -
Wessex HC2 Crab Cabs Pt II (Fly Wessex - why on earth did I?)
TonyOD replied to hendie's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Sadly I can't make time for the full 75 pages of epicness that was this build, but I have had a dip in and what an adventure, what a result! The line that caught my eye was this: "I have doubts it will even make the display cabinet." If I used your quality standards, none of my builds would make it in the house, let alone the display cabinet! -
Cool, look forward to it.

Good to know you. I'm from Yorkshire, but they're holding me hostage in the East Midlands. Send help.

Nice to know you Dan. Are you going to show us your Sea Fury? One of my favourite planes.

That's a beast! -
Classy looking plane the Hunter. My next build is going to be a t.7. Will follow your progress with interest. That seatbelt is quite a contraption!

...forgive my ignorance, but if a GB is a Group Build, what's an STGB? Thanks
