  1. I'll be following this one with interest! I'm building a Rotol-propped 71 Squadron IIa from around the same time (alongside a Special Hobby Seafire, just for laffs), likewise there are question marks over the TLS/DFS transition but I've decided to go with DFS. Enjoy the build.
  2. Saturday evening roundup... Slightly livelier day today, with four new projects added to the Build List: a brace of submarines from @bianfuxia and @RC Boater Bill, a Beaufighter from @MattG, and @ArnoldAmbrose casually throws a scratch built - scratch built! - 1/600 Flower class corvette into the ring. As you do. Our total number of WIPs now stands at... 119! It being the weekend I suppose, there has been a notable surge in builds getting underway, with 80 builds now up and running, an increase of eight from yesterday. A special warm welcome to @Wedge from sunny Perth, Australia, who joins us not only as a GB first timer but as a complete Britmodeller newcomer, and will be joining the fray with another Flower class corvette, Revell's HMCS Snowberry in 1/144 scale. Good to have you on board Steve! Enjoy your modelling, I'm looking forward to maybe seeing some more completed builds joining @Luke1199's Bearcat in the gallery in the next few days! Thanks as ever to co-hosts @Col. and @Bertie McBoatface for their continued support. Cheers Tony
  3. I shall shortly be joining you with something Scottish.
  4. This (and the Spiteful) is one of those kits that seems to attract strident opprobrium, but it looks like a Seafang to me and quite shapely at that.
  5. Replacement decals have arrived from Poland more quickly than expected, so Zumbach’s Vb is back on!
  6. And there's another one ticked off my wish list. You are an obliging lot! Looking forward to this one.
  7. @Wedge Mind if I ask how you chanced upon our GB?
  8. Fantastic. Look forward to seeing how you get along.
  9. Hi Steve - I note that this is your first post not only on the GB but on the whole forum! Welcome to the Salty Sea Dog Tavern, it's not a bit place to kick off with Britmodeller! What do you have in mind to build? Cheers Tony (GB host)
  10. Might be a little while this one, got three other examples of Reg's finest that I'd like to try to get out of the way!
  11. That very night I was touring the nightclubs of Bradford in an elephant costume. I like a bash at a guitar too, never any chance of making a living out of it though, though people might pay me to stop. This is me butchering "Don't Look Back In Anger" at our school summer party.
  12. You have a point! Should it be in the ship bit of the Build List? The vehicles bit? Tell you what @Ray S, when I see that the wheels have been put on in your WIP I'll shift it over.
  13. Where productivity is concerned it's the siren call of the SSDGB that's the problem, @Bertie McBoatface!
  14. One of the cats was on manoeuvres so I got up early and have been doing a bit of tinkering. I've stepped away from the 'pit for a while and started doing the wings (this scattershot approach of mine doesn't make for a high quality WIP, I realise, as no one part of of the kit is ready much before the whole thing is assembled!) The wheel wells are a combination of styrene walls and a pair of very thin circular resin "ceilings". These proved surprisingly difficult to position as they can't just be popped into the well with the two wing halves held together as the wheel well narrows on the outside. I marked up the positions with a thin Sharpie then worked fast to get them just so as I was using CA glue to stick them on. I think I got it. The various bits are ready to priming, I like to paint/weather the wheel well parts individually then assemble the wings, masking the wells with wet kitchen roll for the main underside paint application.
  15. I was interested to see that the kit first appeared from "Merit" in the fifties, then found its way into a Heller boxing in the sixties. They called it the BP Lavera. Revell didn't get hold of the mould until 1977, the year the British Sovereign was scrapped. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/heller-l605-bp-lavera--786870
  16. That's wonderful stuff. Loving the narrator's accent. Westlife aren't aging well though.
  17. There's always the kit prop. I'm sure it is not entirely offensive to mine eyes.
