I understand about the reboxes - I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that Smer reboxed Eduard sprues.   I bought it in 2021, when it was hard to find an Eduard Weekend Edition 1/72 Dr.1, because the last release of that version was in  2016.   Given the small number of subjects/kits impacted, I doubt anyone will really care….

On reflection you're right, it would just be plain daft to exclude Eduard sprues reboxed by others - I'm sure there can't be that many about... can there?

I am a little bit put off  by the “any aftermarket must be Eduard”- Is that going too far? You are banning aftermarket decals?    Parts from the scrap box?  Rigging products?   Crew figures?

I think you're right, I'm probably being a bit too stringent with that. Just trying to come up with a scenario that doesn't invite the endless ah-but-whataboutery that seems to happen whenever someone floats a GB idea. So yes, let's keep it simple: the box has to say "Eduard" on it, that's it. Any and all aftermarket or additions, refinements, improvements permissible. I imagine most aftermarket products used on Eduard kits bear their name, it's made to fit after all.

Given the bang-up job you’re doing with the Sea Dogs GB,  I’d probably join in an “empty sprues GB” if you were running it….!

Why, thank you! (Do you think I could get 50 sign-ups...?)

It was Master to the rescue when I built my two SH Seafire 15, though I don't recall if there was an issue at the wings.

I believe it’s a different mould for the XV wing - the blisters are moulded as part of the wing rather than separate panels to glue in, plus theres what I assume is a fold line.

What about kits that are reboxed Eduard sprues?

Um. This muddies the waters very slightly, I wasn't actually aware other companies had reboxed Eduard sprues.

To me Eduard's strength is the package. So for the sake of simplicity I'm going to make the condition of eligibility that if it says Eduard on the box, whether or not it's their plastic, it's in; if not, it's not eligible, even if it was originally Eduard sprues. Might seem a bit odd I realise but keeps it simple. Furthermore any aftermarket used should be Eduard.

You'd think I was on the payroll... 🤣

I hate the arrogant and greedy company

What makes you say that? I think their stuff is pretty well priced for what you get.

Oh. PS: I have NO Eduard Spitfires in the stash

    But they're so nice...

Thanks to everyone who has raised a hand so far!

  5. Day 13 update...

As I'm taking my son and heir to Manchester Airport in the wee small hours of tomorrow morning, I'll get a quick update in early.

Two additions to the gallery today, both excellent their very different ways: @stevej60 hot on the heels of his son and heir with a sleek Airfix Banshee, and GB first-timer Jon @Faraway with a beautiful build of HMAS Castlemaine, which I didn't realise until today is still with us, moored in Melbourne and spending a happy retirement as a museum ship.

And a couple of additions to the Build List: Lord High Master of the Group Builds @Enzo the Magnificent with a maritime classic, the Cutty Sark, and (belatedly, with apologies) @PhantomBigStu's Mossie XVIII.

    The scores on the doors...

    132 builds

    92 underway

    5 finished

    All for now!

    Cheers

IN MY DEFENSE it was a snow say at school so I may or may not have modelled on-and-off that day for about 6 hours...:giggle:

I did genuinely start it on the 17th though.

It wouldn’t really be right to allow it, I’m afraid. The point of the GBs is the pleasure of seeing every else’s builds come together, and this one is nearly done. Fair play for your work rate though, of course you’d be more than welcome aboard with another build 🙂

may I include my Sea Harrier FRS1? I started it on the 17th

Sure! Unless you’re an absolute modelling machine I’m guessing it won’t be more than 25% done!

    Apologies - missed it!

  8. Day 12 roundup...

Evening shipmates, today we have four new builds to add the mighty list: couple of Westland helicopters, namely @heloman1's Whirlwind (to add to his Sea King) and @airfixpeter's Lynx, plus @PeterB's second build, a Vought Cutlass. And in the floaty section, @Rod The Fixer joins us with his 1/350 Admiral Kuznetsov carrier, which by my calculations will be a modest 87cm long when built!

No additions to the gallery today, although @Faraway's mightily impressive HMAS Castlemaine looks like it will be steaming into harbour sometime soon!

    As at today we have

    130 builds

    92 underway

    3 finished

    Cheers all

    Tony
