  1. That's a remarkable looking machine, and coming along very briskly!
  2. Day 16 update... Another two beauties to add to the Build List today... @DaveJL's F-14A is now joined by his F-14D, and @Torbjorn comes aboard with a lovely looking Hanse-Brandenburg W.29. The two types couldn't be more different, really, but I know exactly the same amount about both: absolutely nothing. Part of the fun of GBs is learning though, innit? No new finishers today, but plenty quality modelling going on, it's a pleasure to be part of this. Tonight's numbers: 140 builds 101 underway 7 finished Cheers Tony
  3. That's a great new addition to the Build List. Look forward to seeing how you get along with it.
  4. I'm the GB host and I ask myself the same question when I look in each evening. the answer is always: yes, lots.
  5. Further wing tinkerage: I’m happy with the clipped tips now (but still need to polish the lights up). The port aileron is glued in but the inboard edge of the starboard one is showing a gap of about 1mm that I’ll need to sort out.
  6. Oh wow. What a sight that is. Got to say there's something very pleasing about a lot of the same plane, same scale in various guises all together.
  7. Sorry, I've only just seen this! I think I understand what you mean, and it sounds like a very interesting project! I'd love to see it in the GB. Some great stuff going on there already, but this would add something very different. Cheers Tony
  8. Day 15 update... Quietish day today, with just one new WIP up and running, @bianfuxia's M-28V Bryza (I'd never heard of it either - obscure Polish sub hunter) being added to his three ships. And one more over the line and turning blue, @Andwil's Mitsubishi A5M, and very fine it looks too. Tonight's numbers: 138 builds 100 underway 7 finished Night all! Tony
  9. That's interesting. Wonder how many kits have been knocked out of this mould over the last 62(!) years? Can we call this one started yet?
  10. More tinkering with the wings... I've glued on the cannon blanks and they're horrible misshapen things that I should be able to sort out with a needle file and a bit of patience. As for the cannon, the kit provides both moulded and (better) resin versions, the latter being notably longer than the former. I checked against drawings and it's the resin ones that are too long. I had thought to drill and pin them but the extra length means I should be able to just cut off the stubs, drill holes in the leading edges and put the cannon in the holes. (This may or may not be intentional on SH's part!) Elsewhere I've got the blister panels more or less flush. I have no idea what those little resin bulges are that I was required to CA onto the upper wings, never seen them before (they will end up covered by roundel decal). They were an absolute sod to cut and sand to the required flatness on the back and on the port wing I managed to damage it slightly. The cropped wing tips are transparent so as to be able to do transparent navigation lights, I've painted the back of the front corners (if that makes sense) red/green, but after sanding the wingtip join flush I'll need to polish them up before masking. Thanks for looking in! Tony
  11. Day 14 update... Happy weekend shipmates. Do we really have just two weeks behind us? Hard to believe with so much going on. Quick update as I am determined to get an hour with my Seafire tonight: some more new builds joining the list today, and as interesting and varied as ever. @John Laidlaw has parked his Seafire 47 in the hangar for a bit and is sounding the depths to find his mojo with an Airfix Bristol Beaufort with a detty gret torpedo on the bottom of it. @Faraway is straight into another build following the completion of HMAS Castlemaine (I'm sorry Jon, it always makes me think of a lager brand, popular in the eighties, that nobody gave a Castlemaine XXXX about ) with a second build, a KFK Kriegsfischkutter by ICM. And we are joined by @Louise with a brace of KP Supermarine Seafire Mk Ib's - I've said it before and I'll say it again, you can never have too many Seafires! - and also @Colin W with a lovely vintage Airfix HMS Victorious. Thanks all, the list just gets bigger and bigger! Quite a bit of activity in the GB today with a number of WIPs turning green. Just one finisher, @flashlight's superb F-8E Crusader in commemorative French Navy livery. I'll turn it blue now and link it to your pics once they're in gallery if that's OK Nick. The scores on the doors... 137 builds 99 underway 6 finished Have a great weekend all. Cheers Tony
  12. Thanks @Col.If this is to be true side-by-side build of two examples of the same type in the same scale I'm happy enough to have them sit in one thread, they will go on the Build list as a double build, same as @Davek72's Zeros. Cheers Tony
  13. That's a very striking scheme for sure Steve.
  14. As I've done my nightly trawl through the not-yet-green WIPs to see if anything has happened, I've found myself mildly disappointed not to see this started yet. Great to see it up and running.
  15. Good man. I wasn't going to mark it sunk just yet!
  16. On reflection you're right, it would just be plain daft to exclude Eduard sprues reboxed by others - I'm sure there can't be that many about... can there?
  17. I think you're right, I'm probably being a bit too stringent with that. Just trying to come up with a scenario that doesn't invite the endless ah-but-whataboutery that seems to happen whenever someone floats a GB idea. So yes, let's keep it simple: the box has to say "Eduard" on it, that's it. Any and all aftermarket or additions, refinements, improvements permissible. I imagine most aftermarket products used on Eduard kits bear their name, it's made to fit after all. Why, thank you! (Do you think I could get 50 sign-ups...?)
