  1. Thank you! I divide the model into separate "models" (cockpit, engine, landing gear, frame, etc) and each module gets my 100% undivided attention and good research. This way the final model should be 100% quality of its own (I have very high standards). Thanks! 😉 Many thanks! Good to know that I'm not the only one who is trying to represent the aircraft in decent condition. Pretty much 90% of models [I see] have a heavy weathering of one kind or another.
  2. I like clean builds. Looks stunning to me! Perfect paint job! 👍🏻
  3. It has been some time since my last post. Well, life tends to get in the way of fun, you know? Anyway, I was working on these landing gears (x2) since sometime in October (taking my time for research and proper prep). After many weeks of working on numerous parts (~22 for each side) the result is right in front of you. Being honest with you, I quite like it. No crazy weathering/wear of any kind involved. Just typical dirt/dust where the maintenance crew won't bother to clean. Cheers!
  4. Thank you! This is the kindest compliment I'd ever received! I'm so glad to know that you find some value in it.
  5. 😲 that is more than some hobby shops have in stock! Wow!
  6. Looks stunning and unusual.😯 This is the first time I see zero model in such color combo. Beautiful finish and masterfully assembled. 👌🏻
  7. Thank you! I only wish it could have been a bit faster. Feel like a snail.
  8. Made some important corrections here: antennae and raised rivets. Some quite omissions on behalf of Tamiya. Both were time-consuming to fix. The rivets are Archer decals made of resin. The antennae is PE with my fix - thinly cut Tamiya tape (less than 1mm) to represent fabric and applied by hand. Everything was sprayed with "cowling black" by Mr Color.
  9. Looks great! You nailed it very well! Can you tell exactly what was hard/required modification? I have this model in my stash and want to be prepared for unknown 🤔
  10. This is an amazing work! I would like to know what is it you don't like here. Fit and finish 100% (at least from pics). 👏🏻
  11. Very nice result of a complicated camo! However, there should not be any camo on yellow lines, if I stand corrected. 🙄
  12. Hello guys! 👋🏻 The front end is officially complete. I'm quite happy with the result. The prop decals are HGW wet transfers which were applied without gloss coat, straight on alclad finish w/o varnishing over it as well. Keep it "metallicy" real! 💪🏻 Finally, it starts to look like a zero we all know about! P.S. If you interested in how I painted the prop, please check my post #2.
  13. Nice model but very poor background choice. Strained my eyes and gave red cast on the silver paint of the model.
  14. I can relate 100% with both of your statements. 😄 Plus I prefer everything in my life to look "like new". 🙄
  15. Beautiful work, Dennis! Clean look. So rare to see Japanese aircraft in normal condition. What a pleasure to look at! 👏🏻 Congratulations!
  16. This cowling was painted according to the scheme of Zero model 21: blue-black outer shell (for anti-reflective purposes) and aotake green for internals (as far as sources told me). I didn't varnish outside yet. No outside weathering has been performed because this is a quite new aircraft and very well maintained. Inside weathering includes oil streaks on the bottom cowling (gravity and blowing wind) and general engine grime/dust.
  17. Very nice job! Tidy and accurate. I simply love Japanese minimalist aircraft painting 👏🏻
  18. Very nice paint work! Great job! 👍🏻 However, in case of old decals, I would use paint and making tape in order to get these red and white lines which are quite easy to make because these are just straight lines. Just my opinion. 😉
  19. Yeah, thank you so much! 😀 I was listening to it on Audible while modeling.😌 Kept my imagination going and entertained 😆
  20. I think this is a stunning work. I love the color, shades, dark tones and your weathering is on point. Masterfully made and the figure gives a sense of scale. Brilliant! I'm sorry for being "off topic", but since we are talking about Marseile here, I would like to recommend to read/listen the book "The German Aces Speak" (2 volumes). This amazing book is based on real war stories (from interviews) from German aces, and they have a good lengthy story about life/lifestyle and professional life of Marseile. That lad fascinated me, he had the balls to do mind blowing stuff! 😅 I highly recommend to give this book a try. 👍🏻
  21. Thank you, Paul! 😉 The prop had tested my patience every time I sat to work (and rework, and rework, and rework, and....) on it. I really hope that the rest of the model will be easy on me. 😅 Thank you, Roberto! 🙂
  22. Hello Jorge, Thank you for kind words! 😊 I looked up your Bismarck and was blown away how detailed it is! This is incredibly stunning and fascinating to see it that full of "going on" on a deck. Your time was well invested! 👏🏻 I can totally agree with you about loosing interest on a long project, it happens to me from time to time (I guess our human nature of "want it now") but then I manage to go through these phases and with a fresh set of strength I continue on the project and just move on. "It seemed to never finished with all those tiny little details and day after day it was like there was no progress" - I can relate 200% and this is how I feel daily pretty much 😅 Yes, painting and weathering are the most artistic part of the whole thing and this is the face of the model we are going to look at for years (hopefully). I think I have this little struggle right now due to no experience. Hopefully by the end of the Zero I will gain more airbrushing, weathering confidence. 🙏🏻 I'm pleased to know that you like my pics. 😉 I use Canon EOS R with 24-70mm lens along with 35mm macro lens for some shots. The key here is light. I use 2 lights (Nanlite Forza 60 LED Monolight) for desired coverage. But your Bismark has great pictures too. I think you nailed pictures 100%. Definitely shot on a real camera. 👍🏻
