  1. currently in French newsagents or available from the Aviation Bookshop or the publisher direct Finnish Eagles vs. Red Star by Kari Stenman . 114 page A-4 softback, 225 photos profile artwork .. a bargain at 12 euros ! page views here http://www.avions-bateaux.com/en/catalogue...logue_1412.html
  2. ..no idea what a Leopold is but the PremiAir G35 does a pretty good impression of the CR at around £35 for anyone just wanting to put a toe in the water..haven't picked up my Badgers since I got it. I like to think I could upgrade to the CR but I can't for the life of me see any difference between the two brushes...I guess its all in the 'feel' and the 'action' ..any experts care to comment ?
  3. ..cheers JB .. thanks for the reply ..looking forward to it !
  4. OK I'll bite ..looks great ..got rid of my on-call and preparing to travel up from the south coast. How much to get in ? ....parking, ease of access OK ?
  5. ...fabulous Luftwaffe stuff! ..I can see how you might have been derailed by personal probs, after all I guess we all tend to model when our heads are in a good place. I must admit I like to finish a build, clear the bench, dispose of the rubbish and the empty box, file any part-used decal sheets away, assign any spares to their correct tins...and start all over again!
  6. ..bit of an eye-opener... don't think I've seen so many unfinished builds. Hartmann's 109 looks excellent !
  7. .. very nice neat tidy build and finish ...
  8. ..interesting looking kit...
  9. ..if you like Fw 190s absolutely. 444 A-4 pages, 800+ photos, handbook drawings, profiles. German text & poorish quality matte paper though...
  10. Jagdflugzeug 190 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JAGDFLUGZEUG-FOCKE-W...=item45f2b363f0
  11. ..indeed ...I'd be pleased with that - I'd have built one by now but I haven't seen it anywhere since it came out..
  12. ..super build & finish.. you might be interested in this pic of Krause that shows more clearly the white outline to the Adlerflügel
  13. ..I agree .. looks very convincing all round - I don't see the point of building this kit with everything closed up..figures look the part too why not use a wood planking effect for your base ..lolly sticks with a bit of a burnt umber wash ...
  14. ..looks very nice indeed ! built this one a few times recently. You might want to consider doing something with the gear - if you just plug it into the locating holes it will sit perpendicular to the wings and look too squat.. http://falkeeinsmodel.blogspot.com/2009/12/blog-post.html
  15. ..I really didn't think I needed to say how instructive Jonners build/thread was.. that was self-evident. Just more the exception than the rule..even on this forum. ..or text, photos, or, heaven forbid, accurate artwork. Quite why any editor could imagine that he could usefully contribute anything of interest on the 'operational' history of the D-9 (the stated aim of the piece) in only three pages is beyond me, but when combined with Peter Scott's error-strewn 'artwork' then impressions are rather less than positive! (PS ..a taster for you Matt on my blog..)
  16. I'm sure we had this debate six months ago. I might have shared your opinion back then, but I guess I've grown to appreciate the sheer 'enthusiasm' for actually building models displayed in the new SAM (Spence's title conveys a fair bit of this too). Plus I've grown tired of what passes for 'reference' in some of the other mags - like the pitiful Fw 190 Dora article and profiles in the latest MAM ! well I guess the printed media is still a far superior medium although somewhat on the defensive, what with all the 'news and views' appearing instantaneously on the web - the point being that most forum 'rivet-counters' never ever seem to post pics of a finished model or come up with 'fixes' and 'corrections' in a timely enough manner to really be of value to anyone - it's usually just (unsubstantiated) 'words in the wind'...
  17. ..libraries are great for modelling reference...you can order most titles for a small fee - and even if the book is not in the county, the library will go and buy it for you
  18. she must know my wife ..I get that exact same sentence ! ..called her bluff though ..I did cut the grass this weekend..that showed her !
  19. ditto .. could have a been a little heavier even.. ..a nice selection of Wick images here http://falkeeins.blogspot.com/2009/12/helm...9-wnr-5344.html
  20. always get this - Premi-Air Liquid Reamer Airbush Cleaner (150ml-Aerosol) - from this ebay trader.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Premi-Air-Liquid-Rea...=item45f21f9775
  21. me too ..goes without saying. Superb finish.... I'd have perhaps put the foot-step down though (there are openings for it apparently) and added the 'gear down' indicators on the wings....
  22. no need to be - plenty of good sources of info out there nice looking models !
