  3. .. they were/are all legends in that late 70s Kent team...
  4. .. why did they even bother? Surely all the important bits (engines etc) had to come from abroad...

    Easter

great, thanks. First day of the cricket season yesterday. And still in March - Kent playing Loughborough Uni, DBD and Denley both got hundreds..and there was some sunshine, although the floodlights were on for the first part of the day. Live streaming on youtube..
  9. meant to say, thanks for heads-up on Rubicon, a new one on me. Looks like decent value-for-money too
  10. in the turret...yes. To maximise available light and to help when cleaning up the blood splatter....(yes, that what's a vet told me..) Obviously not the same requirements in the engine bay
  11. the now defunct "Aces" magazine published two volumes on the Corsair with Part II covering the post-war period F2G to F4U-7. Via the Heimdal web site, French text. Doesn't look like they are still available, but the sort of thing you could probably pick up easily from The Aviation Bookshop in Tunbridge Wells. https://editions-heimdal.fr/en/aces/1065-aces-special-issue-n2.html
  12. @Pete in Lincs... a recommendation for you. Currently reading Geert Mak's "In Europe - travels through the 20th Century". Each of the book's 66 chapters (800 page paperback) deals with a city or town in Europe, mostly covering wartime, eg Stalingrad, Vichy, London, Dunkirk, Prague, Budapest, Oosterbeek etc at a particular period. Brilliant & fascinating read..
  13. .. indeed, you can't rely on the checker decals to work around those tight curves on the nose, tried and ended up painting them...
  14. Airfix 48th ICM 48th 303 Sqd Mustang with Freightdog resin, Airfix 72nd
  15. Very nice! You didn't happen to locate a rigging diagram by any chance when doing your research?
  16. Like RS Models, not so keen on Luft 46, but could be tempted here. Any clues as to whether this would be a tail-sitter or not? If so where would you put the weight. Presumably behind the 'deflector plate' ?
  17. ..superb! goes to show you can learn an awful lot just by staring hard at the photos for a long time!
  18. ....how the modelling coming along? You must have a finished a few by now. I recently spent a week hanging out with a friend from HOU...but hey-ho, you've gotta come from somewhere!
  19. ... great stuff! So much time effort and skill painting the lower wings. Can't even see what a tremendous job you've done there until you turn the thing over! Welcome to the club!
  20. ... don't let yourself get sucked in by the (Airfix box top) promise of a gleaming glossy elegant looking model - it won't happen. Someone's already used the word 'nightmare'...
  21. nice work! and the same machine on the cover of the June 1957 issue of Jägerblatt
