  1. Sublime work - fantastic. I am sad to hear the Quickwheel mask wasn't successful. You've obviously been able to do a great job in a traditional way, but I kind of relied on the mask for my Jagdpanzer IV that I am struggling through just now and found it to be excellent. So much so it's the only part of the model I haven't stripped the paint off. I did notice that a test fit of the mask did see the mask leave a little something on the tyre, but it didn't manifest itself once I had finished the batch. Maybe having had it lying around for over a year, the adhesive had lost some tack. Anyway, keep up the brilliant work. This sort makes you happy to be a modeller.
  2. British Army Green please. Don't see too many of those around. That's a good idea to take the tabs off the turret as well thanks.
  3. Great start to this project and some quick work too. Especially on the dining table! I agree that Challenger 2 is a fantastic looking machine. On RFM kits. I have been working on the re-released and upgraded Tiger 1 early. This was one of their first kits and is generally fine. I haven't noticed the ejector towers at all on this one, but the fit of the turret pieces and the upper hull to the lower hull was quite poor and needed a lot of sanding and persuasion. I am a new modeller so maybe just my inexperience though. Looking forward to seeing progress on this one. What colour scheme are you going to go with?
  4. Thanks both. You may be waiting some time for pictures of work posted. Slow is an understatement! Maybe I will start a thread about how to find time to do any modelling while working from home and looking after 2 young kids. One of whom is intent on sneaking in to the model making room and touching things... Steve - I feel the enjoyment is mixed with a fair bit of frustration. I didn't expect to be the best modeller in the world but when simple things like getting airbrush to actually spray paint or to get the grey primer to stick to the model (come on, scientists have made this stuff to do just that, why isn't it working?!) it certainly can tinge a modelling session with ominous forboding. Anyway, onwards and upwards, baby steps and all that. See you soon guys
  5. Hello there everyone. I haven't made a plastic model since my early teenage years, when Tamiya WW2 vehicles were the order of the day. I moved on to (poorly) painting Warhammer miniatures in my mid teens before dropping modelling completely. In the interim, the most I have done is architectural models, both commercially and for my own work as an architect. A very different type of modelling for sure. I am now back at it this time with Gunpla to start with. Just before the lockdown started I wandered in to a shop here in Glasgow and bought a small kit. I was blown away with the snap-fit aspect and the ability to pose and re-pose the models. I quickly discounted rattle cans and brushes and invested in a starter airbrush and have so far had mixed results. Hasn't stopped me buying more kits though.... I have come to britmodeller as a lurker several times on the back of searches on how to thin paint, how to use the airbrush, why is the airbrush not working, why am I so bad at the airbrush why does the airbrush hate me etc. And the place has always had a decent answer without me needing to make an account. I now have a little bit of info to share that might help someone else in my position out and I thought I would jump in and make an account. Hello!
