  1. couldn't agree more. That being said, every modeller should have several 3D printers in the workspace and to heck with the fumes!
  2. Tony, I'll put that book on the list! ABE comes in pretty useful at times!
  3. I like the way that as I'm reading the various notifications re this thread, they are immediately followed by eBay alerts of resin printers.
  4. I just showed my wife the video of the Lada. I then told her about the context of this thread. Her response was ; "Ah a steam powered aircraft". Mind you, she is Russian and found the original comments humourous. ;)
  5. I'll add my best wishes to all too. Let's stay safe and well in the coming year(s) and let's not forget to be constructive in the passionate hobby sense.
  6. same thing when I was doing similar training with the Army.;)
  7. yes, that's usually the way, pronunciation is a challenge at the best of times no matter where we are.
  8. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Ben-my-Chree hope this helps (from another antipodean)
  9. I don't know, there's got to be something strange going on. Here I am quietly lurking on this thread, making the odd comment and I see references to whisky, not only here but on another site devoted to wargames! Yes and before I get pummelled I do realise that there is a difference between whisky, whiskey and.... bourbon.
  10. Tony, sorry if this has been raised before; with all of the work that has been, is being done, will the undercart need strengthening in any way? The resin prints should hold the overall new weight of the model? Or is the weight difference not a factor? Michael
  11. you're suggesting to make a squadron...or two? One carrier based, the other land based?????
  12. hopefully! But I am concerned for those of us who are vertically challenged.;)
  13. I agree, but my only question is, where the heck is he going to get the pilot?!?
  14. it could be argued that being remembered as a musician was a greater contribution to mental health.
  15. you don't want to know approaches made to have people join the big 3 as they saw themselves (freud, adler and jung). Then mid century they became fragmented and neo was the term - still they had interesting suicide stats for a while there. We shan't go into the behaviourists territory either, they were too far out.
  16. reminds me of the cartoon; The new Airfix Spitfire 1A - three or four guys opening the box of the 1:1 scale 'model'. Then there was James May's 'small' effort.
  17. that's what I've been doing on and off during the day. The Anycubic Photon S looks like a possible as I prefer working with Resin. I must head over to the other 3D threads and see what is happening there. Tony has a lot to answer for (especially to our wives!)
  18. Tony, the art of craftmanship is still amongst us. It's a pity that more people cannot appreciate what has been going on here. Thanks!
  19. Jamie, I couldn't agree more! It is a fallacy that many fall into, thinking that technology makes things easier, like any tool, the talent , the willingness to learn how to use it and the creativity all have to be present.
  20. got to agree! I'm currently looking at the Artillery Sidewinder, but that would be for another thread I think. What is the old saying, that we stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before as they show us what is possible?
  21. Tony, please remind me, what scale is this going to be built in???
