A.W. Whitley GR Mk.VII 1/72 Fly
Redboost replied to Redboost's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thanks chaps! Both turrets and the glazing above the front turret I molded new, the rest is from the kit. Btw the Falcon canopies do not fit being too large, not speaking about their inaccuracy at least as the front turret is concerned. -
A.W. Whitley GR Mk.VII 1/72 Fly

Happy to see so much kind comments, thanks to everyone! Tony O: not sure about particular details of that system (e.g. if similar to CC Liberators) , but period pictures shows the black leading edges on some machines (incl. Z6968). Garry: no clue about the due date, it may take couple of months XF442: the fit is not perfect, but I think that can be expected with this size of short-run tooling kit. Cheers Libor -
Hello, the Fly kit, not an easy one, but finally I'm there... To be featured in a future edition of MAI: Cheers Libor

Very convincing looking finish, congrats! Cheers Libor

Gentleman, do you like this one? If you do then look for marabu Design etched set for Airfix Swordfish, it is included there (and mybe it will be released separately too). Cheers Libor

I think its pretty good kit too, despite it was released about 10+ years ago or so and therefore can't be comparable with recent MPM standard. The torpedo or other armament is missing, but can be sourced from letfovers. Anyway, the torpedo rack and the opening in the bottom fuselage is non existent, so it has to be scratchbuild (I made my own etched for this). Cute looking plane btw and as one FAA pilot said: it was an excellent dive bomber, it dived whenever I throttled back". Cheers Libor

Many thanks for very kind words gents, much appreciated! Cheers Libor

Hello all, this is the Airfix kit with Marabu etched parts, AML resin parts and home made canopy. All paints are Gunze H except the Azure Blue that was mixed from Mr.Color shades. J.Bartle machine of 112.squadron, Sidi Hanneish, November 1941. P/O Bartle scored 4 kills and 1 probable, however, this Tomahawk was written off after battle with Bf 109 some days before he claimed his first kill. This build should be featured in a future edition of Model Airplane Int. Cheers Libor

Recently I use Canon IS30 in manual mode and the kit is placed in a home made box covered from sides with white photo screen and outside are placed two 150W reflectors (cheap stuff from a do it yourself shop). The pictures are adjusted in Adobe photoshop - cut outs, sharpening the image and balancing the brightness and colors.
-
Thanks chaps! Anyway, I could not join that GB since the airframe was almost completed (for years) - it awaited only the finish.

This is 1980's issue of the Revell kit (ex-Esci) built in Czechoslovak Airlines marking as flown in 1950's. The kit required some modifications to windows and antennae system configuration and the engines were replaced by Quickboost items. The decal come from BOA Agency sheet and the NMF is painted with Alclad II colors. Cheers Libor

My personal madness can start, I will be building all three at the same time:

Name of that company is Rob Taurus: Click

That's pretty obvious, but the point is something else, I think John knows what I meant:-) The doors are flat.
-
Hi John, I'm curoius whether you are not mistaken, this is not a VVS plane? (just kidding). I would leave the shape issues to more educated, but based on the master patterns I believe this is going to be the best Mark nine in 1/72. Cheers

First test shots just fell out of the molding machines and they are on its way to Telford - you may see them there
-
A-Model kit is an ugly "something" what is based on old Heller kit, completely out of scale and out of shape - not worth mentioning either!
-
KP actuallly did an Il-2 kit in late 90's, it was a polybag repack of a kit of horrible quality of an uknown ex-SSSR producer with post war Czechoslovak marking, issued in limited numbers (apparently) for domestic market. While the plastic is uselless, the decals printed by Propagteam were very good and justified the purchase just for them.
-
I apologize for using word 'clone' as I did not realize it may be a bit misleading. Actually, the Fly kit is not a clone of the Frog kit, just the main parts were used as a base for the master patterns, then adequately reshaped, rescribed amd modified. Unfortunately, there are some certain shape mistakes around the cowling anyway, at least as the too straight lines, inlet faces of the radiator opening, radiator itself and the missing 'bulge' are concerned.
-
Personally I think the "issue" is a bit exaggerated and judgind the kit on one comment translated by an online translator is not fair. The problem seems to be the shape of engine cowling that repeat the Frog ones, because the kit is its clone. The fuselage lenght is shorter by 0.5cm for Mk.V, what should be OK for the early versions plus some other omissions usual with any kit. Anyway, for me this is good enough the spent the money - I can't imagine building the Frog one instead.
-
I don't agree, it could always be a part of airfield equipment and not necessarily only part of an aircraft diorama. In case your imagination is somehow limited and you need photograpfic evidence, then here is pretty nice example: Cheers Libor

Thanks Ed, Iľl try there. Pundit Lights were located off the airfield and flashed a two-coded ID leters for night flyers to readily identify the airfield they were flying over, they were used mainly during WW2 and shortly post war.
