  1. Halfords clear gloss varnish. Used it on many a truck. Live to Win, Born to Lose!
  2. Thats a great build. I remember those.
  3. Very nice indeed. I'm on with one of these as we speak. How did you get such clean lines on the wheels and tyres, masking? Also were there any clock and Ariel logo decals with yours?
  4. They already have them. I built them for Trevor!
  5. Thats a great build. My first truck was a DAF 3300 back in the 1980s.
  6. OK so as sometimes happens something takes my eye and I think "I'll have a go at that". In this case it was Meng's Smerch rocket launcher. Not a cheap kit, but I can definitely say that its by a long way the most detailed kit I have ever built. It did however give rise to discussion with my local model group, theres no doubt that I found myself thinking at times, "Really, was that necessary?" Especially as quite a lot of said detail is hidden on the finished model. There were sub assemblies of sub assemblies, Certainly some parts were too small for their own good and I broke quite a few over the entire build. Two full etch frets and how the hell am I supposed to bend a part that is only 2mm long anyway? Fit was superb! So superb in fact that a couple of layers of paint (primer and top coat) ruined the fit. I ran into this more than once. On the flip side, its taken me around 5 months to build to the detriment of a couple of magazine articles and a commission build. In conclusion from someone thats slated Chinese engineering for years this was no doubt a superb kit (still NEVER buy anything that has Made in China on it!) (Except a Meng kit). Took up my workbench for a long time and gave me many hours of modelling. Nice to have issues due to detail and fit for once that are positive haha. I'd build another Meng kit. TV remote for scale. This thing is BIG!
  7. So I managed to lay paws on one of the old Airfix BSA C15 kits. For those that don't know it dates from the 1970s. I've been after one for ages cos I have the real thing in my shed! Man, how did we ever become decent modellers starting with these! Ill fitting parts, huge sprues, odd shaped parts etc etc. Anyway with a bit of scratchbuilding and a few cables added I reckon it looks OK.
  8. Superb! Our mam is from Brum and is 87 in a few days time. I'm going to show her this next weekend. I'll report back lol
