  1. It's a fab kit, you'll enjoy it! It's typical Eduard, maybe a tad over-engineered but well-fitting and not difficult. Good choice to stick to your original subject! Cheers, Mark
  2. I meant to say I still look back at your YP-37 build in awe - it's my all-time favourite plane. Just wish there was a good 1/48 one available.
  3. Consider it done! Welcome aboard the Good Ship/Plane/Vehicle* Heller! Cheers, Mark *delete as appropriate
  4. Fantastic and rapid progress, Alistair, she's looking excellent! Nice work on the enginey bits, too.
  5. Exacting paintwork there, absolutely superb!
  6. Superb work, John, the cockpit looks splendid, as does Johannes. This build is setting the bar high! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the wheel bays. Cheers, Mark Its not just you!
  7. Fantastic info there - thanks @Troy Smith and also @Dave Fleming - the yellow detailing on the undercarriage is very interesting, as are the differences in application of the fuselage white. Cheers, Mark
  8. The Wildcat u/c is a cat's (!) cradle, but this is looking superb in its interior grey. Nice! Cheers, Mark
  9. Great bit of progress there, Alistair, the office is looking excellent! Have fun with the undercarriage..... Cheers, Mark
  10. Ah - I didn't know that - thanks, Graham. What was in the underwing kegs, I wonder? There's definitely a photo in Wing Leader by JEJ of a Spit in flight, captioned "our version of the brewer's dray", or words to that effect.
  11. Absolutely - shame there's no evidence of whisky kegs being slung on wing pylons like the RAF Spit IXs transporting beer to Normandy!
  12. This looks ever more interesting, Pat: good luck with this short-run (more like a trip and a stumble) kit!!! I had a Beechnut Wings Curtiss YP-37 (my absolute fave aeroplane) and that was so awful I just binned it Cheers, Mark
  13. Agreed! Great work on the cockpit, John, and Johannes is looking every inch (millimetre!) the fighter pilot! Excellent. Cheers, Mark
  14. I've got some MicroMesh cloth-backed "abrasive" which works really well on curved surfaces. Actually, I need to get some more as it's getting so worn out.....
  15. I should say - beautifully clean floor pan and that's a damn' good finish - what paint are you using? Interesting! I should think a polish with ultra fine MicroMesh would work well after the final matt clear coat.
  16. Some great progress here - this is going to look fantastic! Cheers, Mark
  17. I've added a link in the heading post to the Lancashire Aircraft Investigation Team's history of "Spare Parts" - apparently she consisted of parts from five different Mustangs! Cheers, Mark
  18. I think it was to do with the airframe being rebuilt with parts scavenged from others, but I'll have to see if I can find the "info" that makes me think that! Cheers, Mark
  19. Absolutely! Always for the greater good!
  20. Great work, Alistair, the little Chippie looks fantastic! I think I might need one of these..... Cheers, Mark
  21. Hi All, welcome to my second build in this STGB. This will be P-51B-5-NA 43-6643 "Spare Parts" of the 310th Ferry Squadron, 27th Air Transport Group. The kit will be ICM's 1/48 P-51B Tamiya clone with added Aires cockpit and wheel well sets, finished with KitsWorld's decal set. Here's the real thing, courtesy of the American Air Museum in Britain: "Spare Parts" 43-6623 Note that they caption it as a P-51B-15-NA, whereas Joe Baugher's USAF Fighters states it's a P-51B-5-NA, which is what I'm going with! And here is the story behind "Spare Parts". Incidentally, RAF Speke is now Liverpool John Lennon Airport. More when the kit and bits arrive! Thanks for looking in, Mark
