  1. Well spotted! Mask I confess, but some hand airbrush touching up, esp around the tail where the PE mask would not fit.
  2. Hi all, second attempt to upload photos of second lock down build. Cockpit opened with razor saw, seat belts Tamiya tape and offcut PE, which while rough close up are better than the Tamiya decals, I think. Working on Arma Hobby Hurricane which completes my 172 BoB set and have a stash of 1/48 Eduard late model spit, Revell Hunter 1/72 to be built as FR10 and a Phoenix 1/72 T38 grasshopper (ancient Vacform and definitely one for later....). How is it stash grows faster than kits. anyway here it is and criticism welcomed.
  3. Not sure what happened to the images. Copied link from one dive as before and all was good on my screen when I posted.
  4. Hi All, second completion since rejoining during lock down. Now working on Arma Hobby 172 Hurricane Mk1 and that will complete my BoB set. Some decal and paint finish issues, but learning all the time, Seat belts Tamiya tape and off cut PE, rough but better than decal, canopy opened with Razor saw. Stash now includes 1/72 Hunter F6 to be built as FR10, Vacform T38 grasshopper (waiting a while on that one!) and an Eduard 1/48 late model spit. Also have a hankering for a F104......
  5. Yes but where to keep them๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜„
  6. Thanks all. I'm guessing that it's about being realistic. Invest in seatbelts which can be seen and concentrate on top of sidewalls, seat etc and not die in a ditch chipping PE rudder pedals.... So I'm trying the Eduard spit cause my 109 was Tamiya so variety... Liking the westland whirlwind as left field. Was it the TSR2 of its generation or has it been mythologized? New topic!!!
  7. Hi all, having completed a 1/72 spit and a 109, now starting on an Arma hobby hurricane with lots of PE I am loving building detailed cockpits but then disappointed when the canopy hides it all. I have a razor saw and have opened the canopies but even so... I am looking to move to 1/48 for my next project. So my question is what's a good european theatre single seat fighter for visible cockpit detail. Maybe a car door typhoon? Supplementary which kit has good detail or do I get aftermarket.
  8. Inspired to read the book by will pattison on you tube, who build a 262 based on the book. That is well worth a look. This is also a fantastic build and the damage/underlying structure exposed all very good modelling. For those of us whose military modelling is a physical expression of a more general interest in the history of the use of these aircraft and the men who flew them it is a fitting tribute.
  9. All my engines look like this, i just leave the covers on! Seriously, a fitting tribute and a work of art.
  10. Very nice, tells it's own story. Diorama can overwhelm the aircraft and produce the model railway look. (Which is fine for railways !!!), but here it enhances the build. Really nice build, really nice overall effect.
  11. On the positive, fantastic build, fantastic photography, great history, great build series. I am in awe. On the negative, each time i think i view the summit and make a plan to get there, I find it is just a foothill and i see the true peaks of modelling excellence rising in the mist.. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Similar story here and having build a modern airfix spit and working on a Tamiya 109 I have bought a slingsby T38 vacuform kit. Still working on my skills before I attempt it!! Then maybe a chipmunk
  13. Airfix spit to Vacuform and a potential 25 kit stash in lockdown. A cautionary tale. So having returned via a replica of my car in 1/24 I have got the bug and done a 172 Airfix Spit. Now on a Tamiya 109 and waiting in the stash is an Arma hobby hurricane expert. So maybe I will develop Western europe single seats, Fw190, later spit either 9 or clipped wing, then Tempest, 262 and P51. BEWARE it gets away from you. I now have a Revell Hunter mk 9, fathers day gift, waiting for FR10 conversion as my dad flew them. So cold war and training jets he flew gives me a wish list. Piston provost (matchbox old kit required) Meteor, vampire, sabre, vampire t11, T33 (attached to PAF), sea vampire, hunter, jet provost, hawk (These are actual postings, in a nato role was hands on f4, f104 etc....) could throw in East german mig21 who would 'formate' and watch parallel border flights ! BUT WORSE I have just bought a 1969 Phoenix, vacuform Slingsby T38 grasshopper.. so my own air cadet hands on would give me, Grasshopper, chipmunk, whirlwind, JP, Hawk, Cessna 150. So now I need to learn, vacuform, dope finish, scratchbuild and rigging just for the T38 and then loads more for the rest.. So 25 and counting and the potential stash is growing faster than the building. Let's not get started on money. The kits are cheap compared to paints tools airbrush compressor booth oils varnishes ............. But hey I'm happy, having fun and NOT going to hang them from the ceiling.
  14. Just noticed the radio hatch decal over the panel line, argghh. Thought I had finished!
