  1. Thank you! On another note, do people have a recommended source for the fine mesh seen in the photos?
  2. This is such a cool build! Where did you source the decals?
  3. The Sikorsky archive document states "The interiors were specially designed to include bunks, a washroom, cooking stove and utensils, and food staples." This lead me to reach out to the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari museum to see if they had any photos on hand of how the interiors were configured. The provided the following four, very helpful images: The museum received these photos from the Sikorsky company archives (now Lockheed Martin). According to the museum, these photos are of the plane immediately before it left the factory as it was specially built. A few things of note, images 2282 and 2285 clearly show that the chairs fold and are able to convert into a bed. There is also a large storage rack near the aft end that I haven't seen in other interior images. Huge shoutout to the museum for providing these photos! Especially so quickly. There website deserves a visit if only for the cool photos of the Safaris
  4. Well perhaps I need to work on my googling skills! More practice as always
  5. Thank you @Moa! Your research skills are on par with your modeling skills!
  6. Incredible work! The photography skills are top notch as well
  7. Made some progress this weekend on cleaning up some of the parts in preparation for assembling the interior of the plane. It occurred to me that I haven't seen any documentation of how the interior of this S-38 was configured on its African Safari. Does anyone have a resource to point to on how it was configured?
  8. Thank you! The folks at SBS models really deserve the credit for the fine kit. The design is super cool though!
  9. Made a little progress today on rigging the plane - both on the wings and the rudder.
  10. Thank you! The resin kits are actually a lot of fun and not that hard. My first resin kit was the Brengun Chester Jeep racing plane and it was great.
  11. Finished off the Loire today! I'll try and post a ready for inspection thread later
  12. I am always impressed at your skills in making some of these spindly planes square and true! I lost count of the number of attempts I made at installing the upper wing of the biplane I am working on...
  13. Made some progress today mounting the upper wing, touching up the paint, and applying the decals. The decals were extremely fragile and broke a couple times. A light coat of clear should help as well!
  14. Made some progress this afternoon finishing up the painting and placing the decals! Next up will be the rigging
  15. So I mixed up some paint and airbrushed the Loire last night. I think the color actually looks pretty good! What are peoples thoughts?
  16. This kit is very nicely put together! It includes a ton of very detailed resin parts and two fuselages for two difference model types. It also includes some nice vacuum formed windows for both styles. The single piece upper wing molding is huge as well! I am quite impressed it doesn't have any warping. I am really looking forward to this build! Note shown here but I have gotten bunch of assorted brass rod that I will use to replace most of the struts to add strength (per the instructions).
  17. The kit contains vacuum formed, photo-etched, and white metal parts that look super nice! The plastic is also very crisp. The photo etched wheel parts with individual spokes look super cool! The kit mentions that struts are not included so I have procured some brass rod that should get the job done This kit is REALLY going to stretch my skills
  18. So I know I mentioned that the upper wing would be next but given the confined nature I thought I would install the gun before the wing. The gun is actually quite nicely molded and went together fairly quick!
  19. Made a little progress tonight - masking the main cowling and airbrushing the prop. Trying to make slow but study progress Hoping to make some progress airbrushing the fuselage later this week. The paint scheme calls for a grayish blue so it may take some experimenting with mixing the right color.
  20. Thank you! I'll likely be leaning on the tremendous expertise on this forum when I inevitably run into a road block....
