  1. Thanks, its still not perfect, and im not happy with it but sometimes you just do what you can
  2. Yes, it is the latest release. Not sure why that has happened, but it is an easy fix
  3. I used Humbrol maskol to go over the white of the decal, (and silver paint) and i didn't notice it until too late. I have somewhat fixed it with paint, i shall share pictures asap... I think when i have done this one, i will get another Heron and do it in Jersey airlines once again (try and find a some sort of aftermarket set of decals with a different reg/serial no.) for the future. I really like the scheme, shame i made a bit of a mess of it.
  4. Thanks guys! I've painted the nose midnight blue, and well its got worse😂😂, i gave the decals a few gloss coats, and well i dont think i gave ut long enough to cure. I used maskol to mask of the nose, and when removing it some of the decal ripped off, so im in a bit of a pickle.
  5. My mojo for the heron is back, so i have started decalling it. Last post i said i would post a picture of what it looked like, and well i didn't so here is what it looked like when my mojo went: Its not my proudest of work, i will admit, lots of filler/sanding marks can be seen through the sliver paint, the white paint is a very thick layer, and its all a bit messy frankly. I hoped that when I decalled it, they would draw your (well mine) eyes away from the messiness. I think that has worked slightly. The decals are nice, some difficult to put on (the nose ones) but are typical modern Airfix standard, fairly thin, Hard wearing. One of the nose ones did split in multiple areas (My heavy handiness), making application that much harder, but i got there in the end. I have left some decals off for the time being, I will be using the nose decals as a guide to the midnight blue nose. The nose decal and pin stripe decals haven't lined up perfectly, but nothing a bit of paint can't fix.
  6. Update on the tomcat, Its fully painted, with some issues along the way of course. The 3 shades of grey are not has prominent as i originally thought, but can be seen in the right angles and lighting. Now it is me being an idiot, i painted the places that would be hidden from the swing black, I then sprayed hairspray on the area to create a scraped look (i later learned that this wasn't seen on the real aircraft) and for some reason, my brain thought not to gloss the area before hand to protect the paint, and I'm not sure why this happened, but i wiped the wing with my finger by accident and the paint went back to the plastic. but that is in the past and it has been resolved. I did mix up some grey (isn't the exact same) so i decided to go over some panels to create worn/replaced panels. It will be hard to pick the change up in the picture, but the new grey is only slightly noticeable in real life. It is now all glossed ready for decals.
  7. Oh, never heard of it being called Hels before, i did suspect that you were talking about Leo. I did try sign up to start up an apprenticeship there this year but they never got back to me, I decided to go to Yeo College as a backup and do an engineering course there. Hopefully i might be able to get in there next year, it worth another try. An update on the F 14, been given its underside and side colours, just the top to do.
  8. Thanks mate, and no I don't, I'm not even sure what Hels is 😂 I am 16, just finished school😂
  9. To fill in some time for when the heron is put to the side (although it will be coming back shortly), I decided to start a kit that I had heard good about, and that is the Revell 1/144 F14 D 'Super Tomcat' Im not the biggest fan of fast jets, but i decided to give this a go. I had always thought that the F14 was a little over rated, but now i know why, it is an absolutely gorgeous aircraft. Despite the small scale of this kit, the engineering of this is fantastic, no fitting issues, no filler (apart from filling in some heavy handedness from my blade) and not hardly any join seams. Now being a small kit, its been quite a quick build, i started the kit on Monday afternoon, and now it is all pre-shaded ready for paint. Cockpit The only issue i have with the kit at the moment, is that the side instrument panels are ever-so-slightly over scale and it has good amount of detail. The build Like i mentioned earlier, absolutely no problem with this one, it went together like brickwork. I have decided to make this one in flight, so i drilled a little hole in the nottom of the plane to place a piece of sprue to act like a stand. Here yo can see the starts of a stand... it is mostly built by now. And, with another stand, I'm probably gonna change it to something better, but for now it is fine.
  10. Thanks mate, Sometimes i think it better to brush paint white over spraying white.
  11. I have quite the backlog of posts to do, i have two projects at the go now (You will find out what/why later...) So after the Anson, I thought that having a crack at the Airfix Heron would be a good idea, both used as a airliner of some sort, the Anson it its latter variants. The interior is basically non existent, and finding enough space to put enough weight in the nose was fairly hard... its still a tail sitter. (Im gonna use the stairs as a support) The fit, well it wasn't perfect but it was Ok. The engines were a problem to fit. No matter how much i sanded down it down, there would be a horrible gap. (The pictures are a few days old (you maybe able to see the engine gap) I have since lost my 'mojo' for this, i have painted it silver/aluminium and added the white top. The white was being a pain in the backside and i have lost alot of interest with this, in a few days i will try again. For the mean time i am working on a 1/144 Tomcat D. I will post more up-to-date pictures later.
  12. Thanks mate. Yea it isn't the greatest of kits, but i would say it wouldnt do too badly on the modern market, maybe a bit of a spruce up on the interior. The retractable landing gear has to be some of the best that Airfix did, it works so cleanly for me.
  13. For this one, i decided to take my own route. At the start of the project, i fell in love with the idea of Anson testbeds, so i decided to add aerials made from stretched sprue. I also didnt want the hassle of masking the turret, and i preferred turretless Ansons anyway so i filled in that hole with milliput. I also painted on my own custom Coastal command Scheme, that went very well. I dont really have alot to say about this project, i just went with what i wanted. So, here it is:
  14. The finished kit Its been just about a week since a finished the Anson, i have a pair of kittens that are running Havoc around house which has caused me less time to post. Anywhoo, like i mentioned the Anson is finished, i used spare decals for the main part, The decal on the v.stabilizer is from the kit. When un-masking the transparencies, i encountered some fogging due to wild use of tamyia Extra thin trying to make the windows stay in place. But here i present to you, a custom 1/72 Avro Anson:
  15. Yes, i was thinking about trying to fix that issue but it would have caused too much hassle for me
  16. This is the Airfix 1/72 anson...I should have put that in the title really
  17. Thanks!!! The Mk.XIX is a lovely varient, and we'll possibly if I get my hands on another kit, i would do a conversion, but that's a bit too advanced for me (at the moment) Thanks
  18. The Anson as changed quite a bit, all painted up with a custom coastal command scheme, and aerials on the nose to represent a radar test bed. This Anson will be fictional (but based on real Ansons) I have removed the turret hole as well. The aerials were made from using stretched sprue and parts from past projects The quick conversion. The hole was filled with milliput, a smoothed down with water to best fit the area, after it has dried i used a nail file block just to finish off the shape. I did add a bulge just under the nose using the wasted miliput, but i did remove it because it just took away that Anson look. Painting For the scheme i instantly fell in love with the coastal command shemes. I did want to spice it up a bit, so i did that. I really do like the look of this bird so far, i will be using normal RAF Markings rather than CC markings, mainly because i don't have any and it will add my own personal touch. Im going to have tis one with gear up , on its stand.
  19. Thanks Kenny and Lewis, this morning I was look at pictures of Anson 1s and decided to go for a custom scheme, a turretless Costal command one, the decals are probabaly gonna be taken from a spitfire or whatever I have spare. I also forgot to mention, i got this in a charity shop along with various other models (6 alltogether) for 4 quid...they were sold as spares (about to go in the bin of the shop) the only thing missing was a canopy of a Match box Gladiator and a canopy of a very old Airfix Bucc
  20. Thanks...I was having a hard time masking the turret so i might leave that blank...or maybe I do one without a turret...🤔🤔
  21. I'm not doing anything fancy to this one, a nice somewhat simple kit. I started this about a week ago and well, i'm already at the painting stage (almost) so a bit of a catch up is needed. Cockpit Its fairly empty in here but i couldn't be bothered to do anything. I used Milliput to block up the holes in the side for the wing fitting. I used interior green mixed with a little bit of RAF dark green to darken it up a little bit, i also used a sponge and silver to imitate chipping. As i didn't have any blue, i had to use green (can't remember what type) for the crews uniform, along with various other colours. i painted the instrument panel and radio black with white dots to show dials. The build First of all, i adore the retractable gear system on this, it has this feature while retaining a fairly accurate look. The whole thing needed sanding an filling on practically all the seams. The cowling had a nasty ridge going all around it, but was an easy fix. The masking on the canopy is pretty bad, there was no framing. Not much to say about this to be honest.
