This is where i would normally invoke a .gif of Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa saying, "Ooooh, It's Bingo!!" I was one of those that bought the kit back in about 2014-2015 when a handful managed to trickle into shops on the west coast. Molded in the blue-grey "Soapy" plastic, mine had unsightly ejector pin knockout marks that looked like they punched all the way through the fuselage skin. I've been waiting to get my hands on one in the 'New" plastic. It's a plane i wanna build, solely for the shape of the wing planform. Looking forward to more. -d-

And then just like that..... i had another Corsair Grande, ready for primer. The silver on the wing roots is Mr Color C-8 Silver, with a coat of Mr Super Clear GX-112 UVCut applied on top. I'm gonna re attempt depicting the exposed metal beneath the yellow zinc chromate primer and the semigloss sea blue, but much more restrained and discreet, focused more towards the leading edges of the wings... Once the model gets the cockpit area masked off, i'll shoot it with some primer, whereupon i will probably find more areas that i missed, LOL... We will keep you abreast of the latest developments, as events unfold....

I felt the Buccaneer was missing something, with the weapons bay open, but nothing in it. Oh yeah... Bombs. These are just the Airfix kit bombs, which are anchored in place with segments of Evergreen rod between holes drilled in the centroid of the wedged-shapes slot for the bomb shackle point, and the middle of the vaguely-concave narrow slots in the weapons bay roof. Hopefully this will mitigate the somewhat "Starved Horse", look of the model when viewed in profile. I'll get round to re photographing it once i finish painting up a new canopy.

Per my recent conversation with them they say the kit will be out in the Summer. -d-

Very cool. A couple of questions: 1) i know you're building an earlier version, but have you included Antii K in the loop? He may have some references/ Info pertaining to your earlier questions about photos of the wings. 2) Is it possible to get copper BBs in Australia to use for nose weight, or are those generally unavailable as a result of the comprehensive weapons ban? 3) How well does the 3D printed resin sand out, in order to eliminate the inevitable "layer lines" associated with printing? 4) Were the vortex generators just a test fit? How do you plan to anchor them in place? Me thinks it would be best to hold off on installation as long as possible. Forgive my curiosity..... -d-

Spencer Pollard has been doing some videos on You Tube addressing the fit challenges with the Monogram kit. He actually got it to the painting stage in what i'd consider record time.

I haven't built a Thunderbolt in ages, Patrick but i LOVE it. Definitely NOT a cliche paint scheme!! -d-

Troy i will try this formula out on the Corsair Wheel Wells. FYI: Just like with XF-17, Tamiya seems to have tweaked the colours when you compare large bottle sizes to small. Large bottle X-3 Royal Blue not the same as small bottle Royal Blue. Same colour (X-3), but different part numbers. -d-

I love it. I consider the Mk. 18 sort of "The Forgotten Spitfire". There's something about the broader-chord rudder that improves the looks of the plane.

Yeah, i heard some selecting hole chopping is called for on the fuselage wing saddle to get the wing centre section to play nice with the fuselage.

I love the model, love the paint scheme, and i was fondling my Airfix F.2A on Sunday.

These things happen at model contests and it was heart wrenching for sure, but how the IPMS chapter responded to it is what made me so angry. The trophy and the model are in different rooms of the house.

It's being rebuilt. The biggest headache is building up a new canopy. Easily the toughest parts of the whole build. Could you use a word other than "Smashing"?

she's slowly being rebuilt. Working on a new nose gear strut right now.
