  1. Thanks, @Overflow, for talking to Milan, hopefully in his native Czech, so that Sword sees others are interested in the Dominie's coming to fruition--and not just a few completely Brit-mad English-speakers like me. Milan really, really likes U.S. Navy aircraft, and would love a new 1/72 Privateer, but that seems beyond anything he'll even contemplate for now. Sword's F-84 sold well, and I think the Crud is on its way to equaling or exceeding that number, so he's past break-even on these two projects. However, Milan is very cautious right now about anything that doesn't match the classic single-seat, fast-mover category.
  2. Thanks, @Gondor44! Air Graphics is also your source if you want good quality Dominie engines and wheels. Don't purchase the Dominie nose section, though--just do your best with the kit's parts.
  3. These could be interesting projects! How accurate do you want them to appear, and what are your preferences as far as level of detail? The Jetstream will need new engines, for starters, which you can obtain after-market, as well as building up fairings around the main wheel bays (no doors over the wheels, either). The Dominie will need a 3mm nose extension, relocation of the main undercarriage and their bays forward by 4mm, removal of the pointy fuselage tail stinger, and drilling two additional windows on the fuselage right side. You'll also want to add a doppler antenna to the underside of the ventral equipment fairing.
  4. Folks: I am mightily disappointed, but Sword is putting this project on ice at an advanced stage (resin prototype) given what it describes as market uncertainties and the need to count every penny. I spoke with Milan at Moson, and he was emphatic of the need to retrench given high variable costs in Central Europe, e.g. electricity. He has six other projects in various stages he thinks will outsell the Dominie, whose market, he believes, is almost 100 percent limited to the UK. I expressed understanding and empathy for his choice, and made a direct suggestion that he pursue the C-140/Lockheed Jetstar for its Goldfinger, USAF flight inspection/VVIP, and President Lyndon Johnson appeal, to name just four. Milan believed this subject was more in A-Model's ballpark, but could not confirm that A-Model actually has a project in the works due to A-Model's opacity. Wish I had better news.
  5. Also, there is no escape hatch in the cockpit, and I'm unsure if the Basler conversion fairs this over or preserves it. This is an easy fix with a scriber, if the modeler deems it necessary to add.
  6. Agree on all points covered above. By the way, I purchased my Basler several days ago and can attest that it's a nice kit. There's a little flash around the cockpit where the windshield is inserted, but not much, so it's perfectly manageable. Cockpit area dispenses with the compartmentation of the original aircraft for a more "open" flight deck design. The clear parts will need some polishing, unfortunately, as they are not up to Airfix standard, and I would recommend replacing the windscreen pieces with clear styrene. Aside from these, there are two potential squawks, one for parts fit, the other for accuracy. Parts fit: the power packages need to fit over the upper wing nacelle fairing. I recommend carefully dry-fitting these to ensure deconfliction. If necessary, you may need to flatten the top of the fairing. Accuracy: as on the Airfix kit, there is a large oil tank located in the gear bay roof that also anchors the retraction jack. I don't know whether the oil tank is present on the PT6-powered airframes, but this seems a minor concern.
  7. Sorry, Vladimir. U.S. modelers: please be advised that there are ongoing OFAC import and transaction restrictions affecting Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine in accordance with applicable Executive Orders. Please see here for more information: https://ofac.treasury.gov/sanctions-programs-and-country-information/ukraine-Russia-related-sanctions
  8. Most promising, and an excellent way to exceed expectations! I'm looking forward to seeing it, hopefully soon.
  9. Wow, Mr. T! This, atop a Neptune MR.1--it seems you like your punishment in multiples! I have this kit, am looking forward to how you get along with it, and trust all will be well.
  10. Beautifully rendered! All she needs now is Douglas Sentinal tug, a tow bar, and some air crew!
  11. Folks, latest word on this is mid-May at earliest. Please remain in your seats with your belts securely fastened. No smoking, please...!
  12. Beautifully done and most inspirational. I'm especially impressed that you were able to fill the nose with enough weight to keep it on the nose-gear, and not collapse the mains or nosewheel!
  13. Excellent story, @Kincora, and reminds us of how people are affected by these real, working aircraft! How does the nose shape of the kit look to you? I can already see I'll need to rotate the props 90 degrees to depict the engines stopped.
  14. Wow! That is crazy nice! It must've been a tough kit, so...well done.
  15. I'll throw in my idea here: happy to enter with a new Special Hobby Mirage IIICJ in Yugoslav Air Force colors-- "J" for Jugoslavja! It was a real possibility, but derailed by Tito's love (+guns +money) for the Algerian independence cause.
  16. Oh, yay! 50 more years of production ahead, according to Basler Aircraft, so never-ending demand for this kit. From the parts, it shows a possible mixed parentage. It draws heavily from Airfix, and that's not a bad thing at all.
  17. That's most fetching, @JWM! It looks like it was a big aircraft, and a pretty one, too!
  18. Don't forget Kaman and Piasecki! There's a reason why Boeing had a "Vertol" aircraft division, though Piasecki's name suggests he was ethnically Polish. Sikorski was especially talented, and a theologian, too!
  19. Where's the "head" located on this machine? A former member of BM would like to know; and will you be modeling it?
  20. I used Xtra Colours Southwest Canyon Blue as my starting point and toned it down slightly with white to create a kind of periwinkle. The effects are good in 1/72; not sure how they would do in 1/144.
  21. Wow! What great decals. I may have a request before too long on my own. I'll PM you.
  22. I must have this! I'm so glad it's become reality.
