  1. This is my recently completed 1/72 Hasegawa Spitfire Mk VIII. I added a Eduard Zoom set in the cockpit little of which you can see. Exhaust are from Quickboost. Markings are from DK decals and depict a aircraft from 452 Sqn RAAF, Morotai 1944. The model was painted with MRP paints.
  2. I have always liked the Defiant and had started this Airfix 1/72 Defiant Mk I and then put it back in the box. Well, now its finished! I added Eduard Zoom to the interior, Quickboost gun barrels, exhaust and pitot/antenna masts. Aires resin for ventral ID light. Clear sprue for wingtip lights and last but not least the excellent Barracuda wheelset. Antenna was rigged with Uschi Superfine thread and model was painted with MRP paints. Weathering was kept to a bare minimum as these were not in the fight for long and my photos suggested little weathering. Markings are from Extradecal and depict a aircraft from 264 Squadron. Great kit with excellent fit!
  3. 1/72 Tamiya Spitfire Vb Trop. I was going through my stash and found this kit partially built with the cockpit mostly painted. I guess you can say it came from the shelf of doom. I realized I did not have a American Spitfire in my collection so now I do. The model depicts the aircraft flown by Captain Frank Hill of the 309th FS when he was CO at La Senia, Algeria in 1943. The only things added were the internal rear view mirror and some Eduard "Superfabric" seatbelts. Painted with MRP paints and weathered with pastels and silver pencil. Squadron/aircraft codes and personal markings are from Kagero and the roundels were sourced from a Aero Master sheet.
  4. Just finished this one today. The markings represent Neil Armstrongs F9F-2. He was shot down in this aircraft on Sept 3, 1951. While on a armed reconnaissance mission south of Wonsan, he was hit by ground fire while making a bombing run at about 350mph. While trying to regain control he subsequently collided with a telegraph pole at a altitude of about 20ft which sliced off about 3ft of his starboard wing. Armstrong then flew the stricken aircraft back over friendly territory and ejected. He planned to eject over water and await rescue by Navy Helicopters, but wind blew him over land and he was rescued by a roomate from flight school driving a jeep. Neil was in my Fraternity (Phi Delta Theta) Purdue '55. I also volunteer aboard the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space museum which was the ship that recovered him after his Apollo 11 Mission to the moon so there are quite a few connections with this build. The kit is the 1/72 Hobbyboss F9F-2. I added a Eduard Zoom set. Quickboost nose and guns, resin nav lights from Aires and Aires wheels as well. Paint is MRP. Markings are from Starfighter Decals.
  5. My 1/72 Sword Spitfire Mk Vc Trop is completed. Markings are for MA292 flown by F/O Lawrence Weggery RNZAF of 615 Squadron RAF at Dohazari, India, Jan 1944. The markings are from the kit. I added IFF "cheese cutter" antennas from Uschi Superfine Thread. Prop and spinner are Quickboost. Also added some Eduard seatbelts and a resin dorsal ID light. Paints are from MRP and weathered with pastels and silver artists pencil.
  6. Just finished this one today painted with AK Extreme Metal and MRP paints. I built it OOB. First time building in this scale for me.
  7. Since it was the CAG's aircraft it was kept fairly clean.
  8. Yes, Giorgio, the kit is designed for simpler assembly but there are still areas that will take some work to get right . It is a nice kit with excellent surface detail and full intake trunking.
  9. This is my recently completed 1/72 Academy F/A-18E. The kit was completed OOB using kit decals. Painted using MRP Paints with Gunze Mr. Color for the tail. Weathering was done with oils.
  10. Just finished this 1/72 Airfix Skyhawk. It is painted with Gunze Mr Color lacquer. I added Quickboost gun barrels and ejection seat and used most of an Eduard Zoom set mostly in the cockpit. Markings are from a Xtradecal sheet. Only my third jet model in the past 17 years.
  11. I am calling this one done. Monogram 1/48 Hawker Typhoon Mk IB. The molds for this oldie were dated 1967 or 68 I cant remember now. I remember building it with my dad over 40 years ago. The model is painted with Tamiya acrylics and I added KMC resin Tempest tailplanes, a Eduard seat belt and whip antennas from Nitanol wire. Markings were from a eagle strike sheet. A fun build from beginning to end. Geoff
  12. Eduard F6F-5 in 1/72 VF-87 on USS Ticonderoga. Used the prop from a Tamiya Corsair, Added a seat harness bracket made from fine wire, Eduard PE in cockpit, Gun sight glass replaced with clear plastic sheet, Quckboost guns and drop tank, Barracuda Studios resin wheels, wing tip nav lights added with clear sprue, fuselage recognition lights added with MV lenses. Antenna rigged with Uchi super fine rigging thread and whip antennas added with .009" Nitanol wire. Decals were from Illiad and painted with Gunze Mr Color paint. Exhaust staining was done with Tamiya acrylics.
  13. I used Gunze Mr Color 308 which is what Hasegawa recommended. There should be one flying into Moffett Field the middle of march, so I hope to see how close they were to the real thing! This kit was built on a commission for the Moffett Field Museum in Mountain View, CA where they will put it on display. The P-3 Orion used to be based there. http://moffettfieldmuseum.org/
  14. Unfortunately Ryan, no Missles were included with the kit
  15. This is the Hasegawa 1/200 P-8A Poseidon. The model is OOB and was painted with Mr Color and Alclad paints. Nice fitting kit but it does have a lot of very small parts and quite a few decals to apply.
