  1. Thanks all for the feedback and appologies for the link problem. Time to ditch Village Photos for something more reliable. cheers
  2. Cheers folks, Attached are some pics of the completed Eduard Mig-21R. A great kit, my first Eduard and very impressed. Out of the box and painted with Gunze or Tamiya paints. Enjoy.
  3. The sign of a fine model is when it impresses me despite it being a subject that doesnt interest me. This is an exceptional build. Thankyou for turning me around, I have never built a helicopter but now cannot wait until I get my hands on this kit. Thanks to you HartDeco, congrats.
  4. Thanks all for the kind comments. To add further, I actually masked and painted the roundels on the upper wing but used decals for the lower wing and sides. I did not add the duck logo as I figured at some point the plane would have flown prior to its application? I was not happy with the gloss coat prior to decals so added as few as possible. I wish I had seen some of the reference photos supplied on this thread before I started the build, I didnt realise so many shots existed. My google skills need some work!!! Cheers all
  5. Greetings all, Presenting a Tamiya F4U Corsair in 1/48. A fantastic kit. Decals by Ventura and wheels by Barracuda. I am happy with the result although I realised when I was wrapping up the project that maybe RNZAF Corsairs did not have folding wings? Cheers
  6. Hi Mathy, excellent build, very impressive. I am wondering what you use to simulate paint chips? I have been using a fine brush and radomly chipping with tamiya silver but its too....silver and bright. I notice your bare metal is much duller and more realistic. cheers and thanks
  7. Very nice result, impressive. For info, I have built 5 Kitty Hawk kits and the Etendard is the best of the bunch and goes together really well. The worst......the Jaguar!!!! Its an awful kit. Again, great job, love your work.
  8. Yes, thats correct. Morgan's HUD failed so he couldnt fire at the A-4 and Sanchez had damage to his guns from ground fire so couldnt fire back.
  9. Greetings, I have completed the Hasegawa A-4P from Hasegawa in 1/48 scale. Its a difficult to find and very expensive kit and is one of the few that include the short nose of the original US Navy A-4B. It is in the markings of the aircraft flown by Hector Sanchez on June 8, 1982 when he encountered a Sea Harrier flown by David Morgan. Both aircraft escaped the encounter and the pilots lived to fight another day. In fact Sanchez and Morgan met 10 years after the war and became good friends and are to this day. There are several photos of this particular plane online however the camouflage colors vary greatly and its difficult to finalize the actual shading. I have included a photo of the Kinetic Sea Harrier flown by Morgan during the encounter. With thanks to David Morgan for his generous assistance Enjoy
  10. Just completed the Hasegawa A-4P as flown by Hector Sanchez during an encounter with the Sea Harrier sitting behind flown by David Morgan.
  11. Thanks for the nice comments and sorry if the pics are not available to some viewrers, its an ongoing issue I am trying to resolve. cheers
  12. Greetings, Finally completed the Tamiya F-4B in 1/48. A great kit, amazing parts fit with very few grumbles atll. Aftermarket decals, exhausts, weapons and sidewinder covers.
  13. Hey Jon, Congrats again, I am wrapping up my Tamiya F-4 and it will be much better as a result of seeing yours. I was wondering how you finish the metallic hydraulic extension struts on the main and nose landing gear? They look very authentic. I have been wrapping them with self adhesive foil but find they always look to much like plastic and its difficult to remove all the wrinkles. cheers for now and thanks
  14. Thanks for the reply. As a follow up, I used a plutanite polishing cloth and some tamiya fine polish and it worked a charm.
  15. Greetings all, I am building the Tamiya 1/48 F-4B and accidently left a small drop of AK Laquer on the rear canopy after mask removal. I am rather new to Laquer and have not needed to solve this problem before. The canopy has been dipped in pledge floor polish. I tried to scrape it off with a wooden toothpick but it has lightly smeared the paint into a larger but thinner area. Its not much and probably will go un noticed however I would like to try to rectify it. Any thoughts as to what fluid would remove the AK but not damage the floor polish dipped canopy? cheers all
  16. Yep, this is excellent. I am building this very kit as we speak and will be using your build for reference. The mottle/weathered grey is amazing. Very impressed.
  17. Very nice indeed. The weathering and shading are fantastic and make a rather bland paint scheme look rather interesting.
  18. Very nice work, very nice indeed. I love the exhaust cans, very neatly assembled. I am having a lot of trouble with those. And the helmets are a great touch, I will try and grab some for my build however they appear hard to get. cheers
  19. Bozo and Pajarito, Thanks for your helpful replies. Ordered.
  20. Hi all, I am 2/3 of the way through the build and thus far the kit is amazing. Fit and engineering are superb. BUT, I just started assembling the exhaust can petals, 6 per engine and I suspected it would be tricky to get each feather lined up perfectly with the next. And indeed, I am unhappy with the finished product. Its not bad but I have managed to glue each petal slightly out of line with the next and it just looks average. I have completed the fuselage build and the hot section of the engines have been installed in the fuselage and cannot be removed. I would like to go ahead and purchase an aftermarket solution that include the cans (Tamiya part F2) and the petals and will fit into the hot section at the rear of the fuselage. Any suggestions as to how best to proceed? cheers all and thanks for any input. Paul
