  1. Thanks Fubar... i found that picture, and another of the aircraft crashlanded, with same codes but maybe different aircraft. It almost looked like it had large blisters but i could not tell for sure. I still am not clear on what the difference looks like on the elevator? Can someone tell me what eduard kit parts are the large horn elevator? Are horns the balance weights or actustion horn on elevator? Thanks
  2. MH883 is the number on this spitfire, but I cant tell from photos which type of gun blister it has... Can anyone tell from this number?
  3. Ok, thanks very much guys... i was not aware of any b suffix. Probably that photo caption was just used by the aftermarket decal company. I will check the serial and see if its similar to any of the eduard kit schemes and build it similar... Thanks!
  4. I do have a HB Ta152c in the stash and agree it would be great if they did an H. I bet they are nice and buildable, just frustrated at the accuracy issues... I loaded up with all the resin fix parts for the HB ta152c. Overall it will cost more than a Zoukei Mura Ta152h kit!
  5. Hi guys... i neen help from a spitfire expert. I am getting ready to start a build of an Eduard 'Early' Mk.IX spitfire kit in 1/48. I was interested in a different scheme from the ones in the kit. I liked the Air Aces TV show on George Beurling. I am probably spelling his name wrong. He was a maverik and loner, and I loved hearing about his life in the war. Anyway, I just found a decal sheet for a Mk9 he flew in early 1944 at Biggen Hill. The sheet calls this aircraft out as a Mk F IXb. So i dont know spits like i know Wurgers. What is the 'F' in the designation and can I build this scheme from the Eduard kit? Is there a 'b' wing? Thanks for any help you can give me!
  6. Fortunately this does not have the gun hatch issue!
  7. I really liked the HB 190D kit and was hoping for resin fixes like have been done for the HB Ta152C. I just cant get past the terrible shape of the gun hatch. It is flattened on top and does not have the charateristic sculpted humps. Looks wrong from the side view. Very hard to add material and sculpt material and get both adjacent humps to look identical. Better off buying up all the 1/48 Fw190A8 kits that have separate hatches and try to find one that fits up. I tried it and gave up because the ones i tried didnt fit. I was scared of the eduard complexity and reviews of it, but in the end, built the eduard kit and it was far easier than i was imagining. The current eduard Dora kit is based off the difficult to build early fw180A tooling. Eduard has completely retooled this fw190A, and hopefully will do the same with the D in the future.
  8. The HB 190D gun hatch is not accurately shaped. Too bad as it is a nice kit
  9. There are lots of accuracy issues with this tamiya kit. The landing gear bother me the most. Too small and it doesnt sit properly like a Dora did. The landing gear bays are another issue. The kit builds nice and would be easier than eduard. I built the eduard. Its a tough build but be patient, and you will be rewarded as it looks great. I left my tamiya on the pile of doom.... not to be built, or give to a kid. But even still, a nice build can happen, it comes down to how fussy you are about accuracy.
  10. Wow... thats great advice, i may just build one and have fun and it can be on display until a better kit from someone comes along. As I get more skill, i can eventually do a kitbash or just wait until better kit ever gets done.
  11. I have several eduard mk8 kits. Really great kit. Hopefully they do griffon versions. I see now the shorter nose of the mk12... I eat too much, so maybe a fat spitfire would fit me better! I love 5 blade props!

  13. Hey guys, i changed title to ask a question... i am not a SPITFIRE guy (yet) so dont laugh at me! But can one use the griffon fuselage in the airfix 1/48 mk12 kit with props and bits in the mk14 recce to get a mk14? I bet there is something obvious that i am not aware that also needs to change. I would not be adverse to bashing 3 kits to get the mk14 I want!!! I saw that the mk12 kit has a griffon, but is an earlier fuselage. What more needs to change?
  14. Ok... i checked my stash... i have the newer airfix photo recon mk14 kit, that is a bubbletop. I thought this was a later mark! So how long until airfix makes a proper mk14 spit 14 with a high top standard fuselage? Is that in their plan or any announcements? I am not good enough modeller to cut apart fuselages and cobble a turtleback on this kit.
  15. Thanks for that suggestion. I did not know airfix made a new tool mk14. I have a photo recon low back late mark kit, bit its not a 14. I am not familliar with all the airfix kits, and sometimes run across old tooling in the new red boxes. Can someone post the kit number of the new airfix 1/48 mk14 kit? I did not follow their newer 1/48 kits as I was a '1/72 only' guy up until my eyes and age forced me up to 1/48 about a year ago... Thanks guys!
  16. Hi Guys. I want to know your opinions and experiences with the Academy 1/48 Spitfire mk14... I have heard about inaccuracies. I see there is a resin upper cowl and prop and spinner for it. Does this fix the inaccuracies? This is my favorite mark and i want to build one... Thanks
  17. Hi guys... I am building a Tamiya 1/48 mosquito mkiv bomber. They have 4 nice bombs in the bomb bay. WHAT COLOR should they be? Tamiya kit calls out black green xf27. Recently I used mr color c70 dark green on my Typhoon and it looked ok. Whats the correct color? Did they have any colored striping? Thanks!
