  1. I agree 100 % beefy66. PE folding tools are very usefull, however you can still live without it 😉 If you don't want or can't buy dedicated tool just use long flat tong like this (smooth surfaces inside claws are very important!) or just good steel or aluminium ruler and " technical razor blade". Regards, Michal.
  2. Great result, especially considering scale and scratchbuilding. Congratulations! Best regards, Michal
  3. While I'm waiting for some last parts for Jed, I begun new maritime adventure... Tell me please, will it be interesting for you? *** I found very interesting movie. I saw many pictures taken during this siuation, but I didn't know such film exists. I'm sure some of you know it, but maybe not all. I know, its not 1 HMS Jed's Escort Group but the most famous 2nd, I know there aren't Rivere frigattes but something else, but I wanted share my doscovery with you. I love all these ship's details, weathering (no, it is THE WEATHERING!!!), neglected dwarf and all the atosphere. The movie is from Youtube: PS. One of these beauties will be one of my next models. Regards, Michal
  4. Woow! Great job, i will return here many times to admire, study and inspire myself! Thank you for presentation. What extra parts did you use? Regards, Michal
  5. Here we have a topic: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235120656-no-news-about-trumpeterhobby-boss-program-for-202324/page/3/ and... So let's hope these beauty ships finally arrive! Otherwise - don't worry, I think most of us have plenty of models in our sheds, waiting for building... Regards, Michał.
  6. Rob, I love all intensive weathering in this ship: rustry streaks, chipping and salt stains, it is as always absolute masterclass! I'm kidding of course. I like a new approach to base - concept: minimalistic and glossy. Windows are very nice too. Are they painted with airbrush and then masked? Which paint? One thing I dislike, if I may: 3 D layering residues on ship's sides. However maybe it is visibly only on photos. Anyway, another tiny gem plenty of interesting details to see. Michal
  7. ... however I would say these stories should be concentrate on particular buils - ships, like here on our Forum. So we are two waiting in the queue! 🍻 😉
  8. I love Canadairs and admire their brave pilot very much! Your model is really very good. I like very much water and that how you deal with this old model. Tell us, please, how you made a water and what about parts fitting? Did you need much sanding and putty? Regards, Michal
  9. Great work, great plane, great model and great photos! Real pleasure to admire your Swordfish, thank you! Regards, Michal
  10. Today is the sad first anniversary of russian aggresion on Ukraine. That's why I wanted remind my little Mig. Regards, Michal.
  11. Dear Fraser, I must admit, I am a little bit surprised. That's what I had in my PE set: "25 - Funnel cap grill". Regards, Michal PS. Just for my interesting, if I may, @robgizlu have you a Castle in your plans?
  12. Thank you. It was copper wire, joined with CA glue. No soldering at all 😉
  13. I think there is "the grill" on PE sheet. I had it in my model at least: That's what i did during HMS Jed build: Regards, Michal
  14. Thanks 😉 This device was called "hammer" and it's purpose was detonating acoustic mines after settling in water. M.
  15. Hi Rob, KA makes some interesting stuff, Royal Navy doors sets and other Navies too. I found especially interesting radars sets which are difficult to make 3D-printing technology (KAMS35034 ). Black Cat Flowers - I would love late-war Increased Endurance Flowers . And these weird Mediterrenean corvettes with short foredeck, high superstructure and many guns, like HMS Primula. Quite weird ship... 😉 Yes, I have three Mirage kits in my stash and they are still waiting for motivation and courage for start ;-). And I think first I'll do Hibiscus from Black Cat. Regards, Michal
  16. Hi Friends, I made some details for my ship. 1. Black Cat's storage 2. Potato/ vegetable locker from scratch 3. Another locker mixing Black Cat and PE net 4. Attempts and final result of work - supports for kite otters (5, Black Cat) 6,7 anoter details from 🐈‍⬛ I also worked with boat davits. I noticed most Canadian rivers had gravity type davits while british had another one. Unfortunately, orginal kit's davits were... uninspirational to say at least (1). In my shed I found beautiful set of Royal Navy davits made by Korean KA-models (2). However.... they are flat, like all photo--etched parts. I decided to make my own davits using PE blocks and copper wire. (3) How to do such small rings (4)? I have 0,19 mm tin wire. I like tin very much because it is soft and easy to form. I pressed round wire with scalpel's blade to form a thin flat tape. Such tape is very universal form, you can use it for many purposes. Then rounded it around hard wire and cut along wire. I had many C-shape pieces which I delicately bent for O-rings. Voila! And final result - Jed with fixed railings, Oerlikons, lockers and davits: I added scrathed asdic-dome too and painted scumline (?) with oils and watercolour crayon. Now I wait for some last parts for minesweeping, will add a few figures and ensign and - FINISH! PS. That is Valentain's Day gift for me from my beloved Wife. What to say??? .... 😉 Regards, Michal
  17. Hi Richard, According to Peter Elliot's Allied Escort Ships of World War II the most successfull River is Canadian Swansea: U-845 10.03.44, U-448 14.04.44 U-247 1.09.44 Many photos you will find here: http://www.forposterityssake.ca/Navy/HMCS_SWANSEA_K328_306.htm Story: https://uboat.net/allies/warships/ship/160.html As we can see, She had "English" style of armament (2 single 102 guns), 4 single Oerlikons, no sweeping gear. About British ships (by Peter Elliot's data once again) : HMS Spey U 136 (11.07.42,) U 406 (18.02.44), U 386 (19.04.44) HMS Lagan two U-boots HMS Jed two U-boots HMS Swale two U-boots Stories: https://uboat.net/allies/warships/class.html?ID=5 One remark: Peter Elliot's book was published 1977 so it is possible some credits were changed according to new reaserches. you will find many interesting informations and colour profiles here: http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=7797&start=80 You can look to my tread about building HMS Jed, maybe you will find something interesting there: Regards, Michal
  18. Aft platform - double Oerlikons. Unfortunantely - real HMS Hurst Castle had round pipe vents, while I think model has only rectangles. You can ignore it of course, otherwise maybe you can use on of these vents: https://blackcatmodels.eu/en/deck-accessories/262-deck-accessory-set-n6-large-cowl-vents.html Of course, you will find there much more fine acccesories excellent for your model. Regards, Michal
  19. Rob, I remember you painted a few times railings two colours: one colour vertical bars and anotheer colour - horizontal wires. Like hire: Here we have one colour scheme railings. Could you explain me when choose these two options and why? PS. I hope some day I will buy a book. Usually I prefer spend my money for historical books, about real ships than books for modellers and about models, but This book will have a title: "Rob Matthew's Royal Navy ships in miniature". It would be great idea have your stories combined one place and in old-fashioned, gentleman's form - normal book (or even e-book, at least) . Please, consider this! 😉 PS. Very nice PE davits makes a KA models, however they are flat, of course. It is possible to pimp these part with copper wire: 1. Davits straight form the box (Starling Models, River class frigatte) 2. KA Models 3. My davits made by copper wire, blocks from KA models and tin wires (4). Black Cat makes a 3D printined davits too, however I don't know if they are OK type. Best regards, Michal Great progress, wait for final!
  20. This box- art is just stunning! Beautiful plane, great weathering and faboulouse Alps. I would hang it on the wall. Do you know Airfix sell box-arts as posters, like f.e Arma Hobby or Eduard does?
  21. Sometimes I think life is too short for some models... Michal.
  22. Hi David, 🤣🤣🤣 I know it, I know it... This kit requires much attention and effort but after then it can be true modeller's "diamond in the crown". It is "brigt side" of this model. Good luck! Michal
  23. Very good, clean model, Jon - gratulations! I like very much base too - simply and elegant. How did you do wooden deck? I like it too. Michal
  24. Another fantastic Otter! So you use just spare part of round shaped clear box for windshield, am I write? Very ingenious idea, thank you for tip! I use it for my model(s) of Otter. Michal
  25. Hope this project will be continued... I wish see this incredible model finished! Regards, Michal
