  1. I work at bentwaters. Well I did until March since when my daily lunchtime stroll takes me round the garden from the home office rather than past the a10 and other goodies outside the museum! To my shame I’ve never been there at a weekend to actually go inside the wire and have a proper look round. theres a possibility I’ll be back in soon so shout if you need any pictures of her. Although I suspect you will have finished before I get there and it’ll from the wrong side of the wire.
  2. Following my first build of the MkIX Spitfire the other week I'm now onto my second model in my re-started modelling hobby. I've decided to build a FW 190 for no other reason than I like the aircraft and I thought I'd learn some new skills along the way. Sorry some of the pics are a bit out of focus, I'm only using a phone to take them. I've never done anything with photo-etch before so I'm finding that a bit fiddly Here's the base of the cockpit I'm putting the aircraft in flight so I have invested in this handsome chap to occupy the cockpit (well two come in the packet so I'll have a spare). And the whole ensemble with Major Walter Dahl comfortably seated (it might not be his aircraft I finish with but it's the current plan)
  3. Thank you for all your kind comments. the next one is a fw190. I never did Luftwaffe as a kid. I’ve bought it but I’m not rushing into starting it yet
  4. Hi all, this is my first post here and my first model aircraft since I was a teenager about 25 years ago! I'm sure there's lots of versions of this particular aircraft but I had a special reason for starting with this one as I was lucky enough to have a special birthday present last year and a flight in this very aircraft. I've built it as it would have been on D-Day, going two seater was too complicated for me at the moment. I might do it one day. It's the Eduard MkIXc Late Weekend edition. It's possible I should have used a MkIXe kit but I'm not going to worry too much about that at this stage. I'm quite pleased with it as a first build, there's some things I would try to do differently and I've got a lot to learn to get to some of the standards I'm seeing on this site but I'm happy with what I have achieved which is fine with me. I used Humbrol paints brushed on and tried some chipping using a stipple brush which I found in hobbycraft before it closed. I also had a go at weathering using a pencil - I can't rush out and buy oil paints at the moment. It's a bit heavier than I would have liked, especially on the stripes as they were supposed to be newly painted on!
