  1. I agree about the engine cover,it doesn’t look right, but personally I think that this car and the 126C3 are both ungainly looking F1 cars! By the way I’m still jealous,it looks a beautiful kit, very well put together and painted and photographed! Chris.
  2. Whereabouts is this? Obviously it’s in east Kent! I’ve not heard of their annual showcase, you’ve got my interest now! Chris.
  3. Yes,looking through my box files library I have more pictures from the Japan GP. I didn’t post those as they’re a bit smaller but there is one picture with Jacky Ickx and I swear that the car is black. Chris.
  4. That’s very smart! It’s a bit more interesting than the normal Rothmans scheme and the headlights are a massive improvement. Chris.
  5. Hi,I couldn’t add any text once I’d uploaded this picture! I was going to say that this car was the same colour as Penske blue cars but now I’m not so sure! Just a nice photo I thought of this car,all the other pictures do show a darker blue I agree. Chris.
  6. I like this and what you’re doing,I’m a big fan of 1/24 F1 cars. I did have this kit but sold it a few months ago due to downsize moving. Now I’m following this with interest! Chris.
  7. I’m sure Shunko decals make these, they might not be from the same rally though. I got some Le Mans decals recently for D Type Jaguars and had to buy duplicates as they are so thin the white roundels needed doubling up! Not so bad as they are not expensive decals luckily. Chris.
  8. I think it’s turned out rather nice! You’ve made more progress than me,I have about 6 Revell 1/24 F1 kits and haven’t even started one! That’s a very nice result,I love the colours, what blue did you use? Chris.
  9. I didn’t know they did this! As already said in car unfriendly London. Quite a nice cross section of cars,I do remember the Ian Allan shop too! Chris.
  10. I would love the Formula 2 orange McLaren ,it looks beautiful and I would love to drive one too! Not race it though mind. I agree about the ISO Grifo,it completely bloody awful! Chris.
  11. I see what you mean about the weathering, nice paintwork underneath too! Chris.
  12. Beautiful model of a beautiful car,as others have said there’s a lot going on under the bonnet. Who doesn’t like a JPS Lotus? This is the Grand Prix winning car of 1982 Elio de Angelis. I think! Chris
  13. A great choice of model, the Ken Miles car that is,makes a nice change from the boring black one. Years ago I made the resin Gulf 1/24 kit by Le Mans Miniatures for someone, it has the full engine and everything else under the rear end but there was no way I could get the rear deck on,it just would not fit. Luckily the person I made it for wanted it that way! Chris.
  14. I’ve just watched the start of this race so far,and looking forward to the rest of it! I also managed to watch the two Asian Le Mans series races, one in Dubai and the second one in Abu Dhabi. I actually got to go to the Yas Marina circuit on Saturday ,a week late but still nice to see. I watched these 2 races on You Tube, best place now to watch sportscar racing. Chris.
  15. I got this small box the other day,it’s a 1/43 resin kit of the GP Vanwall of 1955. It’s made by a man who calls himself Princess Of Tumult! Very very detailed kit,see the pictures for some idea. 14 pages of instructions, 4 different noses for this car and more. It’s complicated! Anyway ,here you go - Chris.
  16. Yes,the nice little Daimler 2 seater 250SP or Daimler Dart,do you have a picture? I’ve used Motobitz 3d wire wheels on a 1/24 Lotus 11, very pleased with them, except that I had to saw them in half as the Lotus wheels were so skinny, and there was very little room under the body for the wheels! Chris.
  17. Yes,the Daimler had a 2.5 litre V8 engine, nearly all were automatic. I previously owned 2 Jag MK1’s, 2 Mk2’s, a 340,which was the last 3.4 MK 2 with slim bumpers. Oh, and a 420G too. This was a long time ago,I got the first one when I was just 19. They were mostly costing about £100 then! Chris.
  18. At my local MOT garage today. I wouldn’t say YUK to that car myself….Chris.
  19. K and R replicas make that one,Le Mans and Carrera Panamerica 1954. I just looked at their list and they make the Jaguar mk2,I thought SMTS made that but I was mistaken.Chris.
  20. I made one of those! + Back to 1/24 now,I made a Jaguar SS100 1/24 metal kit by I think Wills Finecast? A good kit but fairly awckward as there are no real attachment areas for the front wings which are fairly heavy. Looked in my stash and found a 1/24 Tameo Ferrari 2000 F1 kit, this is a heavy metal kit! I was told by Colin Fraser (of F1 and Marsh Models) who made quite a few of these, that you can’t even put the model down without having a block under the body, the metal suspension just won’t take it. Agree about the resin F1 kits, nothing wrong with them and p/e suspension, a good combination. The K and R D types are very nice but the body is in a lot of pieces and quite fiddly to deal with. Anyway that’s enough rambling from me! Chris.
  21. SMTS are still the biggest white metal kit manufacturer since about 1985 or thereabouts. They do have a factory(small scale!) in Hastings , though they don’t make many 1/24 kits, they do make aircraft, a whole raft of 1/43 kits and they do still make the motorbikes. I would say that these are high quality kits that go together properly too. Chris.
  22. K and R replicas are still alive and kicking, they still make a metal Jaguar D Type,MK2 and others in 1/24. If you want any MG ,Austin Healey etc and a lot of other British cars in 1/43, they make quite a few! Not so many 1/24 though. Chris.
  23. That’s fabulous,it’s great to see one of these built. It’s a metal kit? It’s a shame this car never led anywhere though. Chris.
