  1. Thanks very much Pete - just what I was looking for. Regards, Paul
  2. With the offset ejection seats of the Buccaneer (+/- 2 inches left/ right), does anyone know if the canopy MDC was aligned with the individual seats (i.e. also offset) or were they aligned to the aircraft center-line? I'm finishing my 1/7 scale turbine RC Buccaneer, and the offset of the seats is noticeable, and I want to correctly reflect the MDC pattern on the canopy. Thanks Paul
  3. Leading edge paint question - does anyone have a recommendation for painting the bare metal leading edges of the inlets/ wing/ tailplane? Second paint question - the wings have a narrow strip of primer just ahead of the flaperons, but I can't find a colour reference for the primer - any suggestions? Many thanks, Paul
  4. I think I found it - Phantom Stencil. Or at least it's close enough. https://www.fontsupply.com/fonts/P/Phantom Stencil.html Thanks for all the inputs. Paul
  5. Antti, Thanks. Looking at some additional close-up photos, they now appear to be a true stencil type font. http://www.grubbyfingersshop.com/walkaround_galleries/Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S2B Walkaround XV361 RAF UAS 2017/content/Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S2B XV361 RAF UAS 2017 094 GraemeMolineux_large.html http://www.grubbyfingersshop.com/walkaround_galleries/Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S2B Walkaround XV361 RAF UAS 2017/content/Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S2B XV361 RAF UAS 2017 097 GraemeMolineux_large.html http://www.grubbyfingersshop.com/walkaround_galleries/Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S2B Walkaround XV361 RAF UAS 2017/content/Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S2B XV361 RAF UAS 2017 165 GraemeMolineux_large.html Still looking for a good approximation for this font. Paul
  6. Can anyone identify the font used for the external markings (detail panel markings, not the large serial numbers) on RAF aircraft of the 1970's/ 1980's, particularly for the Buccaneer with the wrap-around grey/ green scheme? Here's an example of what I'm trying to re-create. https://cdnw.nickpic.host/r7oWUm.jpg Many thanks Paul
  7. Thanks all. I recently found TheBaron's Sea Vixen thread. Extremely useful and a masterclass in research and CAD. I've got to page 14 right now. I use Rhino for my CAD work and am self-taught just like TheBaron. My plan is to also create a Sea Vixen CAD model, but with the intent to make an 1/8th scale turbine powered RC flying model. Just doing the basic research right now as I work to complete my 1/7 scale Buccaneer. For anyone that is interested, here's a link to my Buccaneer build thread on another forum. https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-jets-120/11655446-1-7-scale-blackburn-buccaneer-all-composite-scratch-build.html Paul
  8. Does anyone have any knowledge or references that define what the airfoil section(s) used on the Sea Vixen were? Thanks Paul
  9. That is all great info. Many thanks to all. Paul
  10. It does look like a dent, but it is visible on all the various a/c that I can find photos of. Paul
  11. No, this one. https://www.dropbox.com/s/upgpcqqjjnz3olh/InkedTailplane Tip_LI.jpg?dl=0 Sorry, I don't have a web-host for images, so resorting to a Dropbox link. Linked images don't work with Dropbox........ Thanks Paul
  12. Julien, Thanks, and as I look at those photos, I am convinced it is an inverted flat bottom airfoil, with the flat side on the top. Now, if only there was a great detail photo of that weird flattened section on the tailplane tip fairing. Paul
  13. I'm building a large (1/7 scale) all composite RC Buccaneer from scratch and I'm looking for information on the tailplane airfoil section. A photo of current build progress below. Usually, a symmetric airfoil would be expected, but photographs I have seem to imply that the upper surface may be almost flat. With the tailplane flaps that deflect trailing edge up when the wing flaps deploy, I'm wondering if the tailplane is more of an inverted 'flat-top/ curved bottom' section rather than symmetrical. The graphic in the AP seems to imply both a flat upper and flat lower surface, with just a rounded leading edge, but I'm not sure if the graphic of the tailplane internal structure can be relied on to that accuracy. Any info gratefully received. Thanks Paul
  14. Troy, Thanks - very interesting. I came to the same conclusion you did with the codes being grey. They do look noticeably different than the sky band. Agree that the weathering on that build is a bit on the heavy side. Paul
  15. Follow-on question. The posted pictures of the Eduard 1/48 kit of MH712, example below, seem to show that the squadron codes are in either an off-white or light grey colour, not the expected sky colour for that era. They appear different than the invasion stripe white (note the D shows up over the white). TE184 has the expected sky coloured codes. Can anyone confirm if the Eduard colours are correct for that particular aircraft in mid-1944, and what colour are they? Thanks Paul
