Ooh, bad luck! That must be so frustrating at this stage of the build. Trevor -
That's a really nice "restoration" job! Seriously, a nicely finished model. Beautiful Mk1! Trevor

Looking good. Always nice to see some more 1/43 on this site. Trevor

Lovely photos of some fabulous cars, Steve! On the M11 today I saw the fugly RR "SUV thing" again. Still horrible! However, a short while later I saw a much more graceful RR powered machine - a Spitfire joining the circuit at Duxford. Then, down near Stansted, a VW beetle in a turquoise colour with a full length canvas sun roof. On a K suffix plate (1972?) and it looked really tidy. Trevor

Great progress now that colour is being applied. I think that you have captured the tone of the upholstery perfectly. Trevor

What a great project. A personal connection always adds something, I think. I have an Aztec airbrush (and a Humbrol-Exacto dual action before that) and maybe the following will help. I use enamels exclusively and have found that thinning them to the consistency of semi-skimmed milk usually does the trick. Use good quality enamel thinners (I use Revell) and keep the brush moving all the time to avoid build-up and runs. Several light coats work better than one heavy coat. Trevor

These are coming together nicely. They look so much better now the primer has been applied. Here's hoping you get suitable weather for the top coats. Trevor -
MG Metros came in both normally aspirated and turbocharged versions. Both can be fitted into classic mini but it's a right old palaver to fit the turbo engine 'cos there's not much room under the bonnet. I fitted a non turbo in mine. Healthy 76 horsepower and shed loads of torque. A vast improvement over the original 998 unit. Trevor
-
The best thing to come out of the MG Metro was the engine. Many Classic Mini owners (including me) have replaced the 998cc engine with an MG unit. Great engine, with the "hottest" production camshaft ever fitted to an A Series engine. Trevor

Well done to the people from Beaulieu for being so helpful. Your resultant "X-man" looks very good indeed. Well done also with the chain drive. That would have tested my patience to the limit. Trevor

Yesterday (early) afternoon, I spotted a red GT40 heading towards Sleaford on the A153. Had an M suffix reg plate, so perhaps it was a replica. Sounded nice, though! Trevor

That is a very large amount of car! (No idea what it is, though) Trevor

The new wheels are a big improvement. The resulting stance looks just right. Trevor

I saw one of them on the A14 on Friday afternoon. Fugly as sin! Trevor
