1/43 Chaparral 2E, Can-Am 1966

The Denizen figures are really good. Beautifully cast, excellent proportions, unlike some others. More 1/43 models in due course! -
1/43 Chaparral 2E, Can-Am 1966

Thanks very much. Can-Am cars, in general, and Chaparrals, in particular, are definitely my favourites. -
Another 1/43 Can-Am car. This is the Marsh Models Chaparral 2E as it appeared, driven by Jim Hall, at the Laguna Seca round of the 1966 Can-Am series. Built pretty much straight out of the box, as Marsh kits often are. I added a fire extinguisher in the cockpit but that was about it for extras. The figure of Jim Hall is a metal casting by Denizen, painted with enamels, shaded with various oil paints to create the skin tones and shadows, with the sponsor logos from a Patto's Place decal sheet. This was one of my first 1/43 builds, but there are plenty more Chaparrals to post in future. Trevor

Nice work. I bet that applying the white circle decals was an interesting job!

Light Aircraft Grey is good for both the landing gear and the wheel well interiors. Can't remember the Humbrol code, though.

Campbell-Railton Blue Bird 1933
klubman01 replied to Bengalensis's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
Great work so far. A long time ago, one of the breakfast cereals (Kellogg's Corn Flakes IIRC) gave away a series of really small models of all the different Bluebirds. They were in blue plastic and consisted of about five or six parts. Kit building - gotta start somewhere. -
Rover SD1 (3500), Heller, 1/43
klubman01 replied to cmatthewbacon's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
Many moons ago I owned an SD1 2600S. It was like driving a boat! The power steering was too powerful, with little feedback to the driver. Build quality was dubious at best, but a great looking car. The touring car V8's were fantastic. Great model, well done. -
Lovely work. I'm sure it will be a great tribute to Sir Stirling.

Excellent model, well put together.

That looks very good, Chris. Nice to see 1/43 getting some more exposure. Where does the Mike Hawthorn figure come from? Is it Denizen? BTW, love the bow-tie.

Great model of a great aircraft.

That was 1980. I was at RAF Finningley on the Air Engineer training course at the time. My family came over from Ireland especially to see the show and all they saw was the Nimrod searchlight! The day before (the Friday), was great weather for the arriving aircraft, and on the Sunday, when the station personnel were doing the "FOD Plod", it was gloriously warm with clear skies. I didn't serve on Nimrods, but many of my friends and colleagues did. Great model.

Thanks Rishi. I'll post some more over the next few weeks. Trevor -
I and my partner visited Sicily three years ago, staying in Palermo. In the small piazza near the hotel was this statue. Is the gentleman, Ignazio Florio, linked in any way to that classic event?
-
I'm impressed that a) it still exists and b) the undercarriage is still attached. Give a gentle clean, and put it away for future reference/memories.

Great model. Saw this Moke at a local Mini show a few years ago

Seventy Second Scale Modeller magazine??

Thanks very much. -
I use postimage. It's the only I have used so can't comment on others, but I know from other forums that Photo Bucket is problematic. Once you have uploaded photos it's quite easy to post them here. Top Tip; there is a drop down menu labelled "Codes for all images". Use the option "Direct link". Copy and paste into the forum, and, bingo, an image appears. Hope that is of use to you.

1/8 Monogram Jaguar E Type 'Goodwood' Coupe

Wow! -
A friend of mine lived in Bury St Edmunds until recently. On a visit, I drove past Honington and saw the S2 on the gate. When I was stationed there, it was an ex-Navy S1 on the gate. We used to rob it for spares if stores didn't have what was needed, and replace the robbed item with the unserviceable part.

That would be great! Once the great plague is over, and you've found the relevant article, let me know. Thanks very much. Trevor
