Great photo, anyone watch Steve McQueen - the man and Le Mans film on BBC4?
Yes, it was quite amazing. Such a lot a disagreements that it's a wonder the film got made at all.

Blimey, that's a blast from the past!
Looking good so far. Keep up the good work.

Looks like the basis for a decent model.
In addition to the comments already made, may I add the following observations?
The Firestone tyre markings should be have white lettering with the gold ring (not white)
A small aerofoil section (no endplates) needs to be added to the engine cover
The spoilers need to be re-rigged so that they are almost flush with the engine cover
The race number identification lights should be round, not rectangular (visible on the door)
Good luck with the project. I look forward to seeing the end result.

In the absence of any other information, I purchased the Falcon set. The Buccaneer canopy does have the correct shape, has clearly defined edges, etc. and comes with the bonus of the Navigator's blast shield.

When I was part of the UK E-3 AWACS fleet, we regularly deployed to Aviano to monitor the former Yugoslavia in the early/mid nineties. To get to one of our orbits over Lake Balaton in Hungary, we flew via Graz, Austria. As I recall, we didn't need any special permission other than the filed flight plan.
Not, perhaps, the time frame you mentioned, but maybe of use to you.

Dunno tbh, never had grooved discs on any of my real rally cars, and I think I followed Tamiya's instructions properly so never thought to check, but I could well have mucked them up - wouldn't be the first time!
Thanks for your comment!
Keith
I think bmwh548 might be correct.
This is the grooved (and dimpled) disc on front right corner of my car.

Looking really good.
BTW, what paint did you use for the tyres? They look so realistic.

Top job on an iconic aircraft. First axial flow turbojet, swept wings, all the stuff that that allies wanted.

Despite your problems, that came out good. Nicely done!

Wow, that looks good.
Am I right in thinking that you added the fuselage extension between the Revell fuselage and the resin nose? I have the PJ T7 parts to use with a Revell F6, hence the enquiry.

Very good. I particularly like the Me262.

I found this on Grand Prix Models website;
About CMR. "Well proportioned and finished diecast models at extremely competitive prices. Some of the detailing such as windscreens can be a little heavy, but other areas such as wire wheels where applicable are very fine. Made in China for Germany."
Hope that helps.
And, yes, some diecast fanatics are really sniffy. I mostly build 1/43 resin kits. A lot of diecast fans view me as "beyond the pale".

Great work so far. Really looking forward to seeing the finished model. The Eagle is just such a bone-achingly beautiful car.

IIRC, Modeldecal did a 1/72 scale decal sheet which included Humphrey in Falklands finish.
I appreciate that you are working in 1/48, but Dick Ward's notes on the instruction sheet were renowned for their accuracy. I don't remember which set it was, but I imagine someone on BM would have that information.

That is nice!
The A-4 is one of my favourite aircraft and you have done this one beautifully. The weathering, and the accentuation of the panel lines is just right - not too much, not too little. Well done!

Thanks, I appreciate the difference between RN and RAF.
Maybe I didn't phrase my question correctly. Does the Falcon canopy address the shortcomings of the Airfix canopy?
-
Does anyone have any knowledge/experience of the Buccaneer canopy that is included in the Falcon 1/72 Set No.19 - Fleet Air Arm? I know it's for the early Airfix S2B kit, but that's about it.

Those wheels look fabulous!

The leather on the seat is absolutely outstanding.
And your paint job Too... Congrats!

Absolutely agree. The leather looks suitably used.
I'm really enjoying seeing this one go together.

Hi All,
I'm starting the Italeri HAS.3 built as Humphrey on the morning of the SAS rescue from South Georgia. Italeri's decals are crap / inaccurate - is there a third party sheet, or at least an Antrim crest on a sheet somewhere?
Knowing the square root of nothing about guns, what, exactly, is a GPMG that was fitted in the starboard window? Is there a 1/48 product available?
Many thanks,
Gareth
The GPMG is the General Purpose Machine Gun. It was pretty much standard defensive armament for rotary machines, light mobility ground forces, etc.
Not sure where you'd get one (or the decals) in 1/48 scale.
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

That is very nicely done, sir.
