  1. I see what you mean. A commentary would have been useful. Paint all the back of the headlights. This recreates the effect of the glass in front of the reflectors at the back of the light unit. For the rear lights I still suggest painting the outside with translucent paints. If in doubt, have a look at a real Mini. If the colour looks to be on the surface, paint the outside. If the colour looks to be "deep" inside the lights, paint the interiors.
  2. I would suggest that you paint the back of the headlights with silver enamel or, better still, use a liquid chrome Molotow pen. For the tail lights, try painting the outsides with translucent acrylic orange/red, as appropriate. Attach the lights with Kristal Klear, and then seal them in place with gloss acrylic varnish. Looking forward to seeing the results. Trevor
  3. Nicely done! Always did have a soft spot for the Fw190, and this one is quite superb. Trevor
  4. Very nice pair of Avro classics. I'm familiar with both the real machines. East Kirkby is just a few miles up the road from home, and I worked at Coventry airport for several years.
  5. The Sylmasta video is very clear. Their resin casting kit is also very good, and I've used it to make castings from a white metal master. A word of warning, though. Don't be in too much of a rush to get the castings from the mould. Although the resin may appear to have cured, it can still be soft and pliable, so handle with care.
  6. Oh, very nice! A lovely model of a fabulous car. Keep them coming! Trevor
  7. Opacity pretty good in my experience.
  8. Those decals from Patto's Place are well worth investigating. I have used several of his decal sheets in 1/43 scale.
  9. You shouldn't really be surprised by the flat floor of the car. Underbody aerodynamics, indeed aero of any sort, was barely understood in 1970. The 1969 version of the 917 had a reputation for being extremely wayward at high speeds. So much so that the factory drivers usually preferred the less powerful 908 as their weapon of choice. It was only in late '69, during a test session at Zeltweg in Austria, that the significance of downforce was recognised, and led, ultimately, to the shape of the 917 that you are working on, and turned it into such a formidable racing car. For more info regarding the JW Porsches, and the aero test at Zeltweg, may I recommend "Racing in the rain" by the late John Horsman. A thoroughly informative, and thoroughly entertaining read which covers not just his time with the 917, but all of his fascinating career.
  10. The F-4J(UK) was procured post Falklands conflict to bolster UK air defence when 23 Sqn was deployed to Stanley after the fighting was over. They would not have been on UK books until well after the Ark Royal was (sadly) decommissioned.
  11. I came across these from a very old copy of Scale Models magazine. The close ups show a camera installation in the bomb bay and the wing tip. Hope they are of use. Trevor Trevor
  12. Exquisite workmanship and attention to detail. I am in awe of your skills.
  13. I would suggest something like a dark brownish grey for the draught excluder. There were no shiny chrome parts. It was a U channel that was a snug fit around the leading edge of the rear (inner) door window. Like this;
  14. Welcome! Love the models, especially the Mini - very tidy. I have a few real Minis. Trevor
  15. Hard pushed to distinguish it from a real machine. Nice work.
  16. To be strictly accurate, it is now called AR (Air Refuelling)
